Radix is a layer 1 blockchain designed around DeFi. It is not EVM-based. Apps are written in Scrypto, a language built for the Radix Engine, which treats tokens and NFTs as native resources instead of balances stored inside custom contract code. The network uses delegated proof of stake, and the project's stated long-term goal is a sharded consensus design that scales throughput as the network grows. Accounts are handled through the Radix Wallet, which is built to be easier to use than a typical crypto wallet.

The native token is XRD. It pays transaction fees and is staked with validators to secure the network, and it is the base asset in most Radix trading pairs and loans. Fees are paid in XRD, so you need a small balance to use any dApp on the chain.

The ecosystem is small, with DeFi TVL of about $61,000 at the time of writing. Most Radix-native activity is in DEXes such as Ociswap (with Basic and Precision concentrated-liquidity pools), DefiPlaza and the meme-themed RSwap. Weft V2 covers lending and borrowing, and Flux is a beta CDP protocol for borrowing fUSD against XRD. CaviarNine LSU Pool is being sunsetted. Multi-chain services such as Gate and Maya Protocol also appear on this page, but their activity mostly happens on other networks.

Frequently asked questions

What is Radix?

Radix is a layer 1 network built for DeFi, with its own transaction engine and a smart contract language called Scrypto. It is not an EVM chain. It uses an asset-oriented model in which tokens and NFTs are native resources that the network understands directly.

Is Radix compatible with the EVM?

No. Radix does not run Solidity contracts natively. Developers write in Scrypto, and users manage accounts through the Radix Wallet rather than a standard Ethereum-style wallet.

What is XRD used for?

XRD is the native token. It pays network fees and is staked to validators to help secure the network. It is also the main asset in Radix DEX pools and the collateral for borrowing on Flux.

Which dApps can I use on Radix?

On our list, the Radix-native options include the DEXes Ociswap, DefiPlaza and RSwap, the lending app Weft V2, and the CDP protocol Flux. CaviarNine LSU Pool is listed but is being sunsetted, so check its status before depositing anything.

How big is the Radix DeFi ecosystem?

It is small. At the time of writing, DeFi TVL on Radix is about $61,000, and most individual pools hold only a few thousand dollars or less. Thin liquidity can mean larger price impact on swaps, so smaller trades and extra caution make sense.

Why do Gate and Maya Protocol appear on a Radix page?

Gate is a centralized exchange and Maya Protocol is a cross-chain swap protocol, and both support many networks, with Radix as just one of them. They appear here because of their Radix connection, but their figures mainly reflect activity on other chains. Gate is a custodial service, which works very differently from the self-custody Radix dApps.

What is the largest dApp on Radix by TVL?

Gate is the largest dApp on Radix by total value locked, with $5.91B across all the chains it supports. It is followed by Maya Protocol ($6.09M) and CaviarNine LSU Pool ($43.1K). TVL figures come from DefiLlama and change daily.

Which dApp on Radix has the highest DappsAtlas score?

Gate has the highest score at 7.7/10, ahead of Maya Protocol (7.0) and Jewelswap (6.5). Scores weigh security, ease of use, fees and features, and are based only on facts we could verify.

How many dApps are on Radix?

DappsAtlas tracks 16 dApps on Radix. Of these, 16 have a full review and 11 report value locked, $5.92B in total, counting value on every chain they support.

What are the most common types of dApps on Radix?

DEXes (8), Centralized Exchanges (1) and Cross Chain Bridge (1) are the largest categories on Radix, by number of projects.

Which dApps on Radix grew the most this week?

Among dApps with at least $1M locked, Maya Protocol had the biggest 7-day TVL gain (+2.3%) and Gate the biggest drop (−2.6%). Combined TVL moved −2.6% over the same seven days.

What is the average score for dApps on Radix?

The 12 rated dApps on Radix average 5.5 out of 10. Of these, 0 score 8 or higher and 4 score below 5.
