CrossCurve Review 2026: Cross-Chain Swaps and a Recent Exploit

CrossCurve, formerly EYWA, is a cross-chain swap and bridge protocol that combines Curve-style pools with a multi-messenger design. It suffered a bridge exploit in early 2026, and its TVL is now very small, so caution is warranted.

Our verdict on CrossCurve

4.5/10

CrossCurve offers a broad cross-chain routing and bridging stack with Curve-based liquidity, gasless options and developer tooling, and it is aimed mainly at integrators. The main caveat is security: a bridge exploit in early 2026, with reported losses of $1.4M to $3M, combined with a very small TVL of about $35.7K. Cautious users should read the post-incident updates first and use only small amounts.

What is CrossCurve?

CrossCurve, previously branded EYWA, is a cross-chain liquidity protocol operated by EYWA Development Inc. It lets users swap and bridge tokens across chains, and offers an API, SDK and widget for developers who want to add cross-chain routing to their own apps. The homepage describes it as a DeFi MetaLayer and claims 30+ connected chains, 3000+ tokens and more than 4.6B in total swap volume.

The design combines Curve meta pools with a bridge and several messaging protocols. The project lists backers including Kenetic Capital, Fenbushi Capital, Draper Associates and individuals tied to Curve and 1inch. It has been tracked as a cross-chain bridge since September 2024 and deploys on chains such as Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Optimism, Polygon, BNB Chain, Avalanche and Sonic.

The main concern is security. In early 2026 the protocol confirmed a bridge attack involving spoofed cross-chain messages. Reported losses range from about $1.4M to roughly $3M depending on the source. Current TVL is about $35.7K, which is very small for a bridge.

How CrossCurve works

CrossCurve aims to solve liquidity fragmentation, where the same token has separate pools on many chains. It uses Curve-style meta pools together with a bridge, so a single pool design can serve transfers between chains. A user swaps into a pooled asset on one chain, a message is passed to the destination chain, and the user receives the target token there.

The message layer is the critical piece. The homepage cites the LayerZero OFT standard for token bridging, a consensus bridge that uses multiple messaging protocols, and a proof-of-authority oracle network for inter-chain data. On top of this, a routing engine selects paths across DEXs and liquidity venues, and the API lets other apps call it.

Bridges depend on the destination chain correctly verifying that a message is genuine. The early 2026 incident was reported as a failure of that kind: spoofed cross-chain messages were accepted.

7 features

Key features

01

Cross-chain swaps

Swap any supported token for another on a different chain through one route. The homepage cites more than 100 protocols and networks used for routing.

02

Curve meta pool liquidity

The protocol composes Curve meta pools with the bridge, so that one liquidity pool can serve several chains rather than fragmenting liquidity.

03

Multi-messenger bridging

Token bridging uses the LayerZero OFT standard, and a consensus bridge uses multiple messaging protocols. A PoA oracle network is also listed for inter-chain data transfer.

04

Gasless and private execution

Gasless execution via account abstraction (EIP-4337, EIP-7702, Permit2), plus private transactions for sensitive flows.

05

Zap transactions

Zap transactions are meant to bundle on-chain operations into one flow, including beyond EVM networks.

06

Integration tooling

An API, SDK and trading widget let apps and chains integrate once and reach many networks. The homepage says chain setup has no recurring fees.

07

Yield farming and veEYWA

Users can farm yield through veEYWA locking and boosts, with a DAO and tokenomics pages linked from the site.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Clear value proposition: one integration reaches many chains, with API, SDK and widget available
  • Broad chain coverage across EVM networks, with non-EVM and Bitcoin L2 support claimed
  • Uses Curve meta pool liquidity with LayerZero OFT and multiple messaging protocols
  • Gasless execution via account abstraction and optional private transactions
  • Three audits are listed, and the homepage links an audit page and whitepaper
  • Named institutional backers and public SDK repositories

Watch out for

  • A 2026 exploit of the cross-chain messaging layer drained between roughly $1.4M and $3M, depending on the report
  • TVL is only about $35.7K, far below what a bridge usually needs to offer deep liquidity
  • TVL fell 5.8% over the past seven days
  • Fees and slippage are not published on the homepage
  • Operated by a corporate entity, and the team is not named on the homepage
  • Complex design (Curve meta pools, several messaging layers, a PoA oracle network) means more places for bugs

CrossCurve fees

CrossCurve does not publish a fee schedule on its homepage. The cost of a swap or bridge depends on the route, pool slippage and gas on the chains involved, and the swap interface shows the quote before you confirm.

For chains and integrators, the homepage says setup carries no recurring fees. Any protocol-level fee split or token incentives are not detailed in its homepage, so check the docs and tokenomics pages.

Is CrossCurve safe?

CrossCurve has a confirmed security incident. Early 2026 reports describe an attack on its cross-chain messaging in which spoofed messages were accepted, with losses estimated at about $1.4M in one write-up and about $3M in news coverage. The cause was described as an implementation flaw rather than a market event.

Three audits are listed for the project, and an audits page is linked from the homepage. Audits do not rule out bugs, and the incident shows that messaging-layer risk remains. Using a bridge means trusting its contracts, its verification logic and its oracle or messenger set. TVL is now about $35.7K, so check recent post-incident updates and any remediation before using it.

6 steps

How to get started with CrossCurve

  1. 1

Read the post-incident updates and audit reports linked from the site before sending funds.

  2. 2

Install a wallet that supports the chain you are moving from, and keep some native token for gas unless you use a gasless route.

  3. 3

Open the CrossCurve app and connect your wallet.

  4. 4

Choose the source chain and token, then the destination chain and token.

  5. 5

Review the quoted output, fees and route, and start with a small test amount.

  6. 6

Approve and confirm the transaction, then track it until the tokens arrive on the destination chain.

Who CrossCurve is for

Developers and chain teams who want a single integration for cross-chain swaps will find the API and SDK relevant. Experienced DeFi users who follow EYWA and veEYWA may also be interested. Anyone who is risk-averse, or who needs to move large amounts, should weigh the recent exploit and thin liquidity first.

Yes. Reports from early 2026 describe an attack in which spoofed cross-chain messages were used against the bridge. Estimates differ: one write-up cites about $1.4M, while news coverage cites roughly $3M. The cause was described as a flaw in how cross-chain messages were handled.

What is the EYWA token?

The EYWA token is tied to the protocol. The homepage links to veEYWA, a boost calculator and a tokenomics page, and the token is listed for purchase on several centralized exchanges.

Which chains does CrossCurve support?

The homepage claims 30+ connected chains and 3000+ tokens. The listed deployments include Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, Optimism, Polygon, BNB Chain, Avalanche, Sonic, Linea, Blast, Mantle and others. It also mentions non-EVM and Bitcoin L2 support.

How much does CrossCurve cost?

Fees are not published on the homepage. Users would see the quoted cost and expected output in the swap interface before confirming a transaction.

Is CrossCurve safe to use?

Any bridge carries smart-contract and messaging risk, and CrossCurve has had a confirmed incident. Its TVL is also very low. Anyone considering it should check the latest post-incident updates and audit reports, and move only amounts they can afford to lose.
