Alephium is a layer 1 blockchain that secures itself with proof of work and splits its workload across shards to raise capacity. It uses a stateful UTXO model rather than Ethereum's account model, and it runs its own virtual machine with a contract language called Ralph. It is not EVM compatible, so apps are built natively for the chain instead of being copied over from Ethereum.

The native token is ALPH. It pays network fees and serves as the main collateral and trading asset across Alephium apps. Fees on the network are generally modest, though they are paid in ALPH, so you need a small balance of it to use any app.

The on-chain ecosystem is small and focused on core DeFi. At the time of writing, DeFi TVL was about $414,889. Linx App covers stablecoin earning, borrowing and swaps, AlphBanX lets users mint the ABD stablecoin against ALPH, and Nightshade Finance and Elexium offer trading through an order book and a vote-escrow DEX. Bitget and Gate also appear on this page as centralized exchanges, which work differently from these on-chain apps.

Frequently asked questions

What is Alephium?

Alephium is a proof-of-work blockchain that uses sharding and a UTXO-style model with its own smart contract setup. It is aimed at running DeFi apps with lower fees and better throughput than a single-chain design. Its native token is ALPH.

Is Alephium EVM compatible?

No. Alephium has its own virtual machine and a contract language called Ralph, so Solidity contracts and Ethereum tools do not work as they are. Apps have to be built specifically for Alephium, which is one reason the ecosystem is small.

What is the ALPH token used for?

ALPH is used to pay transaction fees and is also the collateral asset in some apps. On this page, AlphBanX uses ALPH as collateral for borrowing the ABD stablecoin, and Linx App lets users borrow against ALPH or WBTC.

Which dApps are available on Alephium?

The Alephium-only apps listed here are Linx App (lending), Nightshade Finance (order book DEX), AlphBanX (CDP stablecoin borrowing) and Elexium (vote-escrow DEX). Bitget and Gate also appear on the page, but they are centralized exchanges rather than on-chain Alephium apps.

How big is the Alephium DeFi ecosystem?

It is small. DeFi TVL on Alephium was about $414,889 at the time of writing, spread across a handful of protocols. Liquidity can be thin, so larger trades may move prices more than they would on bigger chains.

Is it risky to use Alephium dApps?

Any DeFi protocol carries smart contract risk, and smaller chains with low liquidity can add price swings and fewer audits or users to rely on. Read each app's documentation, start with small amounts, and only use funds you can afford to lose. Nothing here is financial advice.

What is the largest dApp on Alephium by TVL?

Bitget is the largest dApp on Alephium by total value locked, with $5.93B across all the chains it supports. It is followed by Gate ($5.91B) and Linx App ($115K). TVL figures come from DefiLlama and change daily.

Which dApp on Alephium has the highest DappsAtlas score?

Gate has the highest score at 7.7/10, ahead of Bitget (7.6) and Auras Wallet (6.5). Scores weigh security, ease of use, fees and features, and are based only on facts we could verify.

How many dApps are on Alephium?

DappsAtlas tracks 8 dApps on Alephium. Of these, 8 have a full review and 7 report value locked, $11.8B in total, counting value on every chain they support.

What are the most common types of dApps on Alephium?

DEXes (3), Centralized Exchanges (2) and Crypto Gambling (1) are the largest categories on Alephium, by number of projects.

Which dApps on Alephium grew the most this week?

Among dApps with at least $1M locked, Bitget had the biggest 7-day TVL gain (+1.6%) and Gate the biggest drop (−2.6%). Combined TVL moved −0.5% over the same seven days.

What is the average score for dApps on Alephium?

The 8 rated dApps on Alephium average 5.9 out of 10. Of these, 0 score 8 or higher and 3 score below 5.
