What USD.AI and CHIP are
USD.AI is a DeFi protocol that aims to finance AI infrastructure. In practice, it offers loans backed by GPUs, the chips that power AI workloads, to compute operators. The money for those loans comes from onchain depositors. The protocol's main product is USDai, a yield-bearing synthetic dollar. People deposit stablecoins and receive USDai, and they can then stake it to receive a yield-bearing version called sUSDai. That yield is tied to the interest paid on the loans.
CHIP is the protocol's token. It is described as the governance and utility token of USD.AI. It is separate from USDai: USDai is meant to track the dollar, while CHIP is a freely priced token whose value moves with market demand.
On our site, USD.AI is listed as a real-world assets project built on Arbitrum. It targets three groups: AI compute operators who want financing, depositors who want yield, and institutions. At the time of writing, CHIP ranked around 302 by market capitalisation as of 2026-11-05.
What CHIP is used for
Public descriptions call CHIP a governance and utility token, so its role is to give holders a say in how the protocol is run and to support the protocol's own economics. The published tokenomics say that CHIP is reserved to bootstrap protocol liquidity. It serves two main objectives: yield origination, meaning the creation of loans and yield that backs USDai products, and capital formation, meaning attracting funds into the system.
In plain terms, CHIP appears to be a tool the protocol can use to attract liquidity and align participants as it grows. It is not a payment token, and holding it does not by itself grant a claim on loan repayments. That is the job of sUSDai.
The finer details, such as what exactly can be voted on, how voting power is counted, and whether any staking or fee-sharing exists for CHIP, are not covered in the data we have. Anyone considering CHIP should read the project's current documentation and governance pages, because token utility often changes after launch.
Supply and tokenomics
CHIP has a fixed maximum supply of 10 billion tokens, and the total supply matches that figure. About 2 billion CHIP were circulating as of 2026-11-05, or roughly one fifth of the maximum. The remaining roughly 8 billion are not yet in general circulation.
That gap matters when reading market data. At about $0.0424 per token as of 2026-11-05, the circulating market cap was around $84.8 million. The fully diluted valuation, which assumes all 10 billion tokens exist at that price, was around $423.8 million. Over time, tokens released from non-circulating supply can add selling pressure, depending on who receives them and when.
The data we have does not include a breakdown of allocations, such as team, investors, community or treasury, or a vesting schedule. The one public tokenomics statement we saw covers the purpose of the reserved CHIP, not the split. Check the official tokenomics page for allocation and unlock schedules before drawing conclusions. Trading volume was about $9.3 million over 24 hours at the time of writing.
Chains, holding and trading
CHIP is issued on four networks: Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base and Solana. It is not the native token of any blockchain, so network fees on each chain are paid in that chain's own coin, not in CHIP. The USD.AI protocol itself is centred on Arbitrum.
Having versions on several chains means you need to be careful about which one you hold. A token on Solana cannot be sent to an Ethereum address, and bridging between chains adds steps and risk. Always confirm the contract address from the project's official channels before buying or receiving CHIP, because lookalike tokens are common.
In general terms, CHIP can be bought on centralised exchanges and on decentralised exchanges on the chains above, and then withdrawn to a personal wallet. Its listing history includes Binance-related programmes, such as the Binance Alpha and HODLer airdrop categories, and a CoinList launchpad sale. Availability differs by region and platform, so check what is offered where you live and whether the platform's terms allow you to use it.
History and notable events
The data we have does not give a launch date for CHIP. What it does show is a short but volatile trading record. The all-time high was about $0.140 on 2026-04-23, and the all-time low was about $0.0216 on 2026-08-09. As of 2026-11-05 the price was about $0.0424, which is well below the high and above the low. It had fallen roughly 11.7% over the previous seven days. A one-year price change is not available, which fits a token that is under a year old.
The token is tagged with a number of project and launch labels. These include a portfolio of YZi Labs, formerly Binance Labs, Binance HODLer airdrops, Binance Alpha Spotlight and CoinList Launchpad. The project's own blog has also said that Sharon AI secured up to $500 million in financing through USD.AI. We have not verified that figure independently, so treat it as a project claim and check how much of it has actually been drawn.
Risks to understand
CHIP is a young, volatile token. It has moved between roughly $0.02 and $0.14 in under a year, and a ranking near 300 means a relatively small market. Large price swings and thinner liquidity than major assets are normal in that range.
Supply is another factor. With about 80% of the maximum supply not yet circulating, future releases could weigh on the price. The gap between the market cap and the fully diluted valuation reflects this.
The protocol also carries risks beyond the token. USD.AI lends against GPUs, physical hardware whose resale value can fall quickly as new chips arrive. Borrowers can default, and recovering collateral or enforcing real-world agreements can be hard. Concentration in a small number of large borrowers, smart contract bugs, bridge issues across chains, and the stability of USDai's dollar peg are all risks too. There are also regulatory questions around yield-bearing dollar products. This is general information, not a prediction or advice to buy or sell.
How to store CHIP safely
CHIP is a standard token on each chain it is issued on, so it can be held in any wallet that supports that network. For Ethereum, Arbitrum and Base, any Ethereum-compatible wallet works. For Solana, you need a Solana-compatible wallet. The token will not show up automatically in some wallets, and you may need to add it using the verified contract address.
For meaningful amounts, a hardware wallet keeps your private keys offline and is generally safer than leaving tokens on an exchange. Write down your recovery phrase on paper, store it somewhere private, and never type it into a website or share it with anyone. No legitimate support team will ask for it.
Before signing any transaction, check the network and the destination address. Be careful with approvals when connecting to DeFi apps, and revoke ones you no longer need. Send a small test transaction first when moving funds between chains. Fake airdrops, impersonator accounts and fake token contracts are common around newer tokens, so only use links and addresses from the project's verified channels.
By the numbers
USD.AI in numbers
USD.AI (CHIP) is ranked #330 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $73.7M and a price of $0.0368 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $368M, so roughly 20% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.
The price was down 13.0% over 7 days, down 27.4% over 30 days. It trades about 74% below its all-time high of $0.1402, set on Apr 23, 2026.
About 2B CHIP are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 10B (20% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $10.9M, or 15% of its market cap: high turnover.
CHIP has token contracts on 4 chains we track, including Arbitrum, Base, Ethereum, Solana. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
CHIP is linked to USD AI, which we cover in our Real-World Assets rankings. See our USD AI page for how the protocol works and how we score it.
