Our verdict on Metropolis AMM
5.0/10Metropolis AMM is a Liquidity Book DEX for Sonic users who want precise control over liquidity ranges and are comfortable managing positions actively. Its main strength is the bin-based design, which gives fixed-price execution inside each bin. The main caveat is size: about $31,000 in TVL, no listed audits and a falling weekly figure mean thin liquidity and real smart-contract risk. Treat it as a small, experimental venue and size deposits accordingly.

What is Metropolis AMM?
Metropolis AMM is a decentralized exchange on the Sonic network that uses the Liquidity Book model, also called a DLMM. It lets users swap tokens and provide liquidity in price bins. DefiLlama lists it since December 2024.
The project's pitch is zero-slippage trades and higher real yield for liquidity providers, with fine control over where liquidity sits. A DEX aggregator listing shows 7 coins and 10 trading pairs, which points to a small market.
Total value locked is about $31,000, down 14.4% over the past week. No audits are listed. The protocol is a niche, early-stage venue rather than a deep liquidity hub. Its homepage reviewed gives little detail on fees, team or governance.
How Metropolis AMM works
A traditional AMM spreads liquidity along one curve, so each trade shifts the price slightly. Liquidity Book instead divides the price range into discrete bins. Each bin holds liquidity at a single fixed price, and a swap that fits inside the active bin executes at that price with no slippage.
When a trade is larger than the liquidity in the active bin, it uses up that bin and moves into the next one, so the average price changes. Liquidity providers choose which bins to fund. They earn trading fees only while the market price is inside the bins they funded, which rewards precise placement and active management.
Metropolis brings this model to Sonic. The project says traders get zero-slippage swaps and providers get higher real yield and more control. Those benefits depend on how much liquidity sits near the current price, which is currently small.

Key features
01
Liquidity Book design
Liquidity is placed in discrete price bins. Swaps within a bin execute at one fixed price, which is the basis for the zero-slippage claim.
02
Custom liquidity ranges
Providers choose which price bins to fund and how much to put in each. The project describes this as unlimited control over positions.
03
Fee-based LP yield
The project says LPs can earn more real yield, meaning returns from trading fees rather than only token emissions.
04
Native to Sonic
The protocol is built natively for the Sonic network, so swaps and liquidity management happen on that chain.
05
Pools and farms
The project documentation describes automated market maker pools and farms. The material reviewed gives no further detail on how farms work.
06
Small set of markets
A DEX aggregator listing shows 7 coins and 10 trading pairs available, which indicates a small market selection.
Pros and cons
What we like
- Liquidity Book design gives fixed-price execution within each bin.
- Liquidity providers can choose exactly which price ranges to fund.
- Built natively for Sonic rather than as a generic fork port across many chains.
- Focus on fee-based, real yield rather than relying only on token incentives, according to the project.
- Documentation covers pools and farms for users who want to understand the mechanics.
Watch out for
- Total value locked is only about $31,000, so liquidity is thin and larger trades are likely to move the price.
- TVL fell 14.4% over the last seven days, which suggests liquidity providers are not staying put.
- No audits are listed for the protocol, and the project does not publish audit reports in the material reviewed.
- It runs only on Sonic, so it depends on that chain's liquidity, tooling and bridge security.
- Concentrated liquidity needs active management; positions that drift out of range stop earning fees and can leave a provider holding mostly one asset.
- Fee tiers, team details and token economics are not described on its homepage reviewed.
Metropolis AMM fees
Metropolis does not publish a fee schedule in the material reviewed. Swap fees, pool fee settings and any farm rewards are shown in the app when you choose a pool or add liquidity.
Beyond protocol fees, you pay Sonic network gas for swaps and for adding or removing liquidity. Check the quoted price impact and fee before confirming, especially in pools with little liquidity.
Is Metropolis AMM safe?
No audits are listed for Metropolis AMM, and the project does not publish audit reports in the material reviewed. Like any DEX, it relies on smart contracts, so a bug could put pooled funds at risk. Liquidity providers deposit into contracts rather than a custodian. Traders keep their tokens in their own wallets until they swap.
The protocol is small, with about $31,000 in TVL, and it sits on a single chain. One third-party scam-check site rates the project's token listing poorly, but the project does not publish a licence, team or incident history in the material reviewed. Use small amounts, verify you are on the official site, and review any token approvals you grant.
6 steps
How to get started with Metropolis AMM
- 1
Set up a wallet that supports Sonic and fund it with the tokens you want to trade plus a small amount of the chain's gas token.
- 2
Open the Metropolis app from the official site and connect your wallet.
- 3
To swap, choose the pair, enter the amount, and review the quoted price, fee and price impact before approving.
- 4
To provide liquidity, pick a pool, choose the price bins you want to fund, and decide how to split your deposit across them.
- 5
Start with a small amount to see how the position behaves and what fees it earns.
- 6
Check your range regularly and withdraw or rebalance if the market price moves away from your bins.
Who Metropolis AMM is for
This DEX suits experienced DeFi users on Sonic who understand concentrated liquidity and want to choose their own price bins. It is less suitable for newcomers, for large traders who need deep liquidity, or for anyone who requires audited contracts before depositing.
Metropolis AMM FAQs
What is Metropolis AMM?
It is a decentralized exchange built on Sonic that uses a Liquidity Book design, also called a DLMM (discrete liquidity market maker). Liquidity is placed in price bins instead of along one continuous curve. The project describes it as offering zero-slippage trades and higher yields for liquidity providers.
Does Metropolis really have zero slippage?
Within a single price bin, the swap price is fixed, so there is no slippage inside that bin. A trade larger than the liquidity in the active bin has to move into the next bins and will fill at progressively different prices. With low total liquidity, that can happen on modest trades.
Which blockchain does Metropolis AMM use?
The project says it runs on Sonic. DefiLlama lists Sonic as its only chain, so it is a single-chain deployment.
What are the fees on Metropolis AMM?
The project does not publish fee tiers in the material reviewed. Swap fees and any bin or pool settings are shown inside the app when you pick a pool or add liquidity. Check them before depositing.
Has Metropolis AMM been audited?
No audits are listed for it, and the project does not publish audit details in the sources reviewed. Smart-contract risk therefore cannot be ruled out. Treat any deposit as capital you can afford to lose.
What are the risks of providing liquidity?
Liquidity Book positions only earn fees while the market price is inside the bins you funded. If the price leaves your range, fees stop and you end up holding mostly one asset. Impermanent loss, smart-contract bugs and thin liquidity are additional risks.
