What Zama and the ZAMA token are
Zama is an open source cryptography company that builds tools for Fully Homomorphic Encryption, usually shortened to FHE. FHE is a method that lets software calculate on data while it stays encrypted, so the party doing the work never sees the underlying values. Zama applies this to blockchains through what it calls the Zama Confidential Blockchain Protocol.
In practice, the protocol is meant to let smart contracts on existing networks, Ethereum first among them, work with encrypted balances, amounts and positions. Normally everything on a public chain is visible to anyone. With FHE, a token balance or a trade size can stay hidden while the contract still enforces its rules.
Our site lists the issuing project as Zama in the Privacy category, aimed at institutions, developers and privacy-minded DeFi users. ZAMA is the token attached to that protocol. It is not a standalone blockchain coin: it is issued on other networks and works as an asset inside the protocol's economy. The sections below cover what that role involves, what is known about supply, and where the risks sit.
What the token is used for
Public descriptions of the token agree on a utility role. ZAMA is described as the native token of the Zama protocol and is meant to pay for protocol operations. Those operations include encrypting data, decrypting it, and bridging encrypted data, with decryption cited most often as the example.
The token is also tied to staking. Participants who want to act as operators, or who delegate to operators, are expected to stake ZAMA. Operators are the parties that help run the network's confidential computation, so staking is the mechanism meant to align them with the protocol's health.
Some sources also mention a burn-related element in the fee design and a role in community operation, such as rewarding contributors. Details of those mechanisms can change as the protocol matures, so check the project's own documentation rather than relying on summaries.
It helps to separate two ideas: the confidential computing technology and the token. The technology can be used without holding the token in some cases, while the token is the unit for fees and staking inside the protocol. Holding ZAMA does not by itself give you any claim on company profits.
Supply and tokenomics
As of 2026-11-05, the data shows roughly 2.57 billion ZAMA in circulation and a total supply of about 11.35 billion. No maximum supply figure is listed in the data we have, so we do not state one. That gap between circulating and total supply is large: about a fifth of the total is circulating.
The gap shows up in the valuation figures. At the time of writing, the market capitalization was about $184.8 million, based on circulating supply, while the fully diluted valuation was about $816.0 million, based on total supply. The price was about $0.072, and the token ranked around 180 by market cap.
Why this matters: tokens that are not yet circulating are usually locked or scheduled for release, for example to team members, investors, a foundation or community programs. As they unlock, more supply can reach the market. We do not have a verified allocation or vesting schedule here, so we do not quote one. Anyone assessing the token should read the project's published tokenomics and vesting terms directly and compare unlock timing against their own plans.
Chains, holding and trading
The data lists ZAMA as issued on three networks: Ethereum, BNB Chain and Solana. It is not the native coin of any chain. Public sources describe the Ethereum version as an ERC-20 token, the common standard for tokens on that network.
Because the same token exists on several chains, the version you hold depends on where you acquired it and where you withdrew it. A ZAMA balance on Solana cannot be sent to an Ethereum address directly. Moving between chains requires a bridge or an exchange that supports withdrawals on the target network. Always confirm the network before you send anything, since sending to the wrong chain can mean permanent loss.
In general terms, the token is held in a self-custody wallet that supports the relevant chain, or left on an exchange that lists it. Trading volume was about $7.6 million over 24 hours as of 2026-11-05, which is modest next to the fully diluted valuation. Thinner liquidity can mean wider spreads and larger price moves on bigger orders. Check which venues and which chain versions are supported before you plan a transfer.
History and notable events
The token's launch date is not stated in the data we hold, so we avoid giving one. What the data does show is how it reached the public. It carries labels linked to a Binance Wallet IDO and a CoinList launchpad sale, which points to community distribution events rather than only private placements.
Price history is short. The recorded all-time low was about $0.0167 on 2026-02-12, and the all-time high was about $0.1074 on 2026-09-23. As of 2026-11-05 the price sat near $0.072, about a third below that high, and the 7-day change was around -4.2 percent. A one-year change is not available because the token has not existed long enough.
Those swings are normal for a newly traded token with a small circulating share. They are descriptive only and say nothing about where the price goes next.
On the technology side, public coverage in 2026 describes the protocol as the core of Zama's confidential blockchain layer, letting EVM-compatible chains process encrypted data. The company is also categorized under a Zama Gateway mainnet ecosystem label. For specifics on releases and roadmap, the project's official announcements are the reliable source.
Risks to understand
The risks fall into a few groups.
Market risk. The token is young and volatile. It has moved from a low near $0.017 to a high near $0.107 within about seven months, and liquidity is limited compared with its fully diluted value.
Supply risk. Only a fraction of total supply is circulating. Future unlocks could add selling pressure, and we have no verified schedule to cite.
Technology risk. FHE is computationally heavy and relatively new in production blockchain use. Bugs in the cryptography, in smart contracts, or in the bridging and operator systems could cause failures or loss of funds. Confidential does not mean risk-free.
Adoption risk. The token's value depends on people actually paying for encrypted operations and staking. If demand for confidential computing on public chains grows slowly, the utility case weakens.
Regulatory risk. Privacy-focused tools sometimes draw closer scrutiny from regulators and exchanges, which can affect listings and access in some countries.
Operational risk. Multi-chain issuance raises the chance of sending funds to the wrong network or interacting with fake token contracts. This page is not financial advice, and nothing here predicts a price.
How to store ZAMA safely
Start by choosing the chain you will hold ZAMA on and use a wallet that supports it. For Ethereum and BNB Chain, that means an EVM wallet. For Solana, it means a Solana wallet. A hardware wallet adds protection for larger amounts because the private keys never leave the device.
Write down your recovery phrase on paper or metal and keep it offline, away from photos, cloud notes and chat apps. Anyone with the phrase controls the funds, and no legitimate support team will ask for it.
Before buying or receiving the token, verify the contract address on the project's official channels. Fake tokens with the same name and symbol are common, especially when a token lives on several chains. Send a small test amount first when moving funds between wallets or networks.
If you stake or delegate, read the lock-up and unbonding terms first, since staked tokens may not be withdrawable right away. Be cautious with approvals: review and revoke token permissions you no longer need. Treat unsolicited airdrop links and direct messages as suspicious.
By the numbers
Zama in numbers
Zama (ZAMA) is ranked #182 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $179M and a price of $0.0694 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $788M, so roughly 23% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.
The price was up 3.5% over 7 days, down 14.6% over 30 days. It trades about 35% below its all-time high of $0.1074, set on Sep 23, 2026.
About 2.57B ZAMA are in circulation, from a total supply of 11.35B. No hard maximum supply is listed.
24-hour trading volume was about $9.07M, or 5.1% of its market cap: moderate turnover.
ZAMA has token contracts on 3 chains we track, including Ethereum, BNB Chain, Solana. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
ZAMA is linked to Zama, which we cover in our Privacy rankings. See our Zama page for how the protocol works and how we score it.
