ActiveRoyco V1 Review 2026: Tranched Yield Markets Explained
Royco is a yield-market protocol that splits a yield source into Senior (protected) and Junior (first-loss) tranches. Its pitch is transparent, comparable markets for capital allocators, but Junior positions carry real loss risk.

Our verdict on Royco V1
6.8/10Royco suits experienced DeFi users and capital allocators who want to choose a risk level on a yield source rather than take a single blended return. Its main strength is the clear Senior and Junior structure, with rate, capacity and withdrawal terms shown upfront. The main caveat is that protection is limited: Junior depositors take losses first, Senior is only as safe as the Junior buffer and the contracts, and leverage options add risk. Fees are not published, and the audit claims should be verified directly.

What is Royco V1?
Royco V1 is a yield protocol that started as an Incentivized Action Market and now presents itself as transparent yield markets for capital allocators. Its core idea is tranching: one yield source is divided into a protected Senior slice and a first-loss Junior slice, so users can choose their risk level.
The tracked TVL is roughly $1.5M across Arbitrum, Ethereum, Sonic, Base, Plume, Berachain, Hyperliquid and Corn. The project reports $3.1B in all-time volume. It has been tracked since November 2024.
The homepage names backers including Pendle, DCF God, DCF Capital and TN Lee. It does not name team members or publish fees.
How Royco V1 works
Royco takes a single yield source and splits deposits into tranches. The Senior tranche gets base yield and is protected, while the Junior tranche sits underneath and takes losses first. In the homepage example, 76% of TVL is Senior and 24% is Junior.
Because Junior capital absorbs losses, it earns more of the yield. If the source performs, Junior gets the amplified return. If something goes wrong, Junior is hit before Senior. A third option, the Senior LP tranche, owns Senior's exit pool and earns fees plus a premium by providing liquidity for entering and leaving Senior positions.
Tranche shares can then be used elsewhere: posted as collateral to borrow, looped for leverage, or used with a term market to lock a fixed rate. The earlier Royco V1 design was an incentivized action market, where incentives were offered for onchain actions.
7 features
Key features
01
Senior and Junior tranches
Capital in a market is divided into Senior (protected) and Junior (first-loss) tranches, each with its own risk and yield profile.
02
First-loss protection
Junior depositors absorb losses before Senior depositors and earn a higher yield in return.
03
Senior LP exit pool
The Senior LP tranche owns Senior's exit pool and earns fees plus a premium. The homepage example marks it as not offered in that market.
04
Market comparison data
Markets show source APY, trailing rate, capacity, liquidity and withdrawal mechanics so allocators can compare before entering.
05
Borrow against shares
Tranche shares can be posted as collateral on lending markets for borrowing.
06
Looping and fixed rate
An integrated loop adds leverage to a position, and a term market lets users lock a fixed rate.
07
Council and monitoring controls
Critical upgrades need a 3-of-5 council approval and timelocks, and protocol activity is monitored every block.
Pros and cons
What we like
- Clear risk choice: protected Senior or higher-yield Junior in the same market.
- Markets show rate, capacity, liquidity and withdrawal terms before entry.
- Tranche shares are usable as collateral, in loops or with a fixed-rate market.
- The project cites 20 independent audits and formal verification, plus block-by-block monitoring.
- Critical upgrades require a 3-of-5 council and timelocks.
- Live on multiple chains, with an all-time volume of $3.1B reported by the project.
Watch out for
- Junior depositors take losses first, so principal can be lost if the underlying yield source fails.
- Tracked TVL is only about $1.5M, small for a protocol that reports $3.1B in all-time volume.
- No governance or utility token is listed, and no fee schedule is published on the homepage.
- Audit count and formal-verification claims come from the project itself; the reports are not detailed on the homepage.
- Eight chains means bridging, chain-specific risk and fragmented liquidity.
- Looping and borrowing against tranche shares add liquidation and leverage risk on top of the base yield.
Royco V1 fees
Royco does not publish a fee schedule on its homepage. The only fee detail is that the Senior LP tranche earns exit-pool fees plus a premium, which implies users who trade in and out through that pool pay for the liquidity.
To see what applies, check each market's page in the app, which lists rate, capacity, liquidity and withdrawal mechanics. Also account for network gas on the chain you use, and any fees charged by the underlying yield source.
Is Royco V1 safe?
The homepage lists 20 independent audits and formal verification, 24/7 monitoring by Hypernative, and a 3-of-5 council approval plus timelocks for critical upgrades. The tracked data lists no audits, so these claims are the project's own and the individual reports should be read in the security section of the app.
The main risks are smart-contract risk, the failure of the underlying yield source, and tranche structure: Junior depositors lose first and Senior protection is limited to the Junior buffer. Borrowing and looping add liquidation risk. The council and timelock mean upgrades are not fully permissionless, which is a trust assumption. Regulatory status is not stated beyond terms and legal disclaimers.
6 steps
How to get started with Royco V1
- 1
Read the documentation to understand tranches, capacity and withdrawal mechanics.
- 2
Open the app and browse markets, comparing source APY, trailing rate, capacity and lockups.
- 3
Choose a tranche: Senior for protected base yield, Junior for amplified yield with first-loss risk, or Senior LP where offered.
- 4
Connect a wallet on the chain the market uses and check the asset and room left.
- 5
Start with a small deposit and confirm you understand how and when you can withdraw.
- 6
Only after that, consider optional uses such as borrowing against shares, looping or a fixed rate, and understand the added leverage risk.
Who Royco V1 is for
Royco is for experienced DeFi users and allocators who understand tranche structures and can judge a yield source. Senior positions suit those who want base yield with some buffer, and Junior positions suit those who accept first-loss risk for higher returns. It is not suited to beginners or anyone who cannot afford to lose principal.
Royco V1 FAQs
What is Royco V1?
Royco V1 is described as the Incentivized Action Market protocol. The current Royco site presents it as transparent yield markets where deposits into a yield source are divided into tranches with different risk and return.
What is the difference between Senior and Junior tranches?
The Senior tranche earns base yield and is protected by the Junior tranche, which absorbs losses first. The Junior tranche takes that first-loss risk in exchange for amplified yield. The homepage example shows a 76% Senior and 24% Junior split of TVL.
Can I lose money on Royco?
Yes, it can. Junior depositors take the loss first, and Senior depositors are only protected up to the size of the Junior buffer. Smart-contract failure, a yield-source failure or a bad liquidation can still cause losses.
Does Royco have a token?
No token is listed for Royco V1 in the tracked data, and the homepage does not mention one. Be cautious of anyone selling a Royco token.
Which chains does Royco support?
The tracked data lists Arbitrum, Ethereum, Sonic, Base, Plume, Berachain, Hyperliquid and Corn. Which markets are live on each chain is shown in the app.
Is Royco audited?
The homepage cites 20 independent audits and formal verification, 24/7 block-by-block monitoring by Hypernative, and a 3-of-5 council with timelocks for critical upgrades. The tracked data lists no audits, so check the audit reports in the security section before depositing.
