Good
Our verdict on Metaplex
7.3/10Metaplex suits Solana issuers who want token, NFT or RWA creation and a launch route in one place, and traders who want early access to new token sales. Its main strength is its long history and deep integration with the Solana ecosystem, including Raydium liquidity. The main caveat is that fees and audit details are not published in the material reviewed, and token sales carry high risk. Read the docs and each sale's terms before committing funds.

What is Metaplex?
Metaplex is a platform on Solana for creating, selling and managing digital assets. These include NFTs, fungible tokens, real-world assets, gaming assets and DePIN assets. It began as an NFT protocol and a team called Metaplex Studios was announced in 2021 to grow tools for creators launching NFT storefronts.
Today the homepage describes it as the leading tokenization platform on Solana. It pairs asset-creation protocols with a launch and trading interface. The project reports more than $14 billion in cumulative trading volume, 1 billion or more transactions powered, and nine project token sales with a combined fully diluted value above $470 million. These are the project's own figures.
The platform has a native token, MPLX. The site is operated by Metaplex Global Ltd. Details such as audits, team members and fee levels are not published in the material reviewed.
How Metaplex works
Metaplex combines two things. Underneath are open protocols on Solana that define how tokens, NFTs and other assets are created and tracked. On top is a platform where issuers run sales and traders buy and sell the resulting assets.
For an issuer, a token sale uses configurable tools meant to produce a controlled, fair launch. When the sale ends, the liquidity moves automatically into Raydium CPMM pools, a standard automated market maker pool type, so the token can trade with depth. Selected spotlight customers can use CLMM pools, which allow more concentrated liquidity strategies.
Traders use the same site to find live sales and trade assets. Settlement and provenance rely on Solana itself, which is why the project says its infrastructure is what the ecosystem already runs on.

Pros and cons
What we like
- Long history on Solana, with its protocols widely used for NFT and token creation.
- Covers issuance and trading in one place, including NFTs, tokens and RWAs.
- Token sale liquidity moves automatically into Raydium pools, which supports trading after launch.
- Developer tools and protocols are available for building directly on the stack.
- Reports very large transaction and asset-creation counts, suggesting broad adoption.
Watch out for
- No audits are listed in the aggregator data, and the project's homepage does not link to audit reports in the text available.
- Token sales carry normal launch risk: a project can list and still lose most of its value after trading starts.
- Headline figures such as volume, FDV and transactions are self-reported and not independently verified here.
- Fees for token launches, trading and asset creation are not published in the material reviewed.
- Tied to Solana, so network outages or congestion affect the whole platform.
- RWA and tokenized securities issuance can bring legal and compliance obligations that the platform does not spell out on its homepage.
Metaplex fees
Metaplex does not publish a fee schedule in the material reviewed. Costs for launching a token, creating assets and trading are not stated on the homepage.
Users would see the actual fees in the launch or trading interface and in the developer documentation before confirming a transaction. Solana network fees apply on top of any platform fee.
Is Metaplex safe?
No audits are listed in the aggregator data, and its homepage does not link to audit reports. Metaplex's protocols have seen wide use on Solana, but that is not the same as a published audit trail. Check the developer documentation for security details on the programs you use.
Users keep assets in their own Solana wallet when trading, though smart-contract risk and Solana network risk still apply. Token sales are speculative and new tokens can fall sharply. Issuing RWAs or tokenized securities may carry legal requirements that depend on your jurisdiction. The site publishes Terms of Use, a Privacy Policy and a Content Policy.
6 steps
How to get started with Metaplex
- 1
Install a Solana wallet and fund it with SOL for network fees.
- 2
Open the Metaplex site and browse the Pulse, Trending or Watchlist views to see live token sales.
- 3
Read the details of a specific sale or asset, including how liquidity will be handled, before buying.
- 4
Connect your wallet and complete a small first purchase or trade, confirming the fees shown.
- 5
If you are an issuer, choose Launch Token or Issue an RWA and review the Terms of Use and Content Policy first.
- 6

Who Metaplex is for
Metaplex fits Solana developers, creators and businesses that want to issue tokens, NFTs or RWAs, and traders who follow new token launches. It is less suited to people who want a simple, fully documented fee structure or who avoid speculative token sales.
Metaplex FAQs
What is Metaplex?
Metaplex is a tokenization platform on Solana. It provides protocols and tools to create NFTs, fungible tokens, RWAs and other digital assets, plus a place to run token sales and trade them.
Does Metaplex have a token?
Yes. The project's own materials describe it as powered by the MPLX token. The aggregator data lists MPLX as its token, but its homepage does not detail every use of it.
Which blockchain does Metaplex use?
Metaplex runs on Solana. Its token sale liquidity is described as auto-migrating to Raydium CPMM pools, so Solana wallets and Solana-based assets are what you will use.
How does Metaplex connect to Raydium?
Token sale liquidity migrates automatically from Metaplex to Raydium CPMM pools. Selected spotlight customers can use CLMM pools and set more advanced liquidity strategies.
Is Metaplex audited?
Not from the material reviewed. The aggregator lists no audits, and its homepage does not point to audit reports. Check the developer documentation and the specific program or sale you plan to use before committing funds.
Can I buy new tokens on Metaplex?
Yes. The platform includes a launch tool for token sales, and trading of the resulting assets happens on the same site. Any token sale carries a risk of loss, so treat it as high risk and never commit more than you can afford to lose.
