Our verdict on Flap

6.5/10

Flap suits token creators and developers who want a bonding-curve launch with optional tax fees and programmable vaults on EVM chains, plus wide wallet and terminal support. Its main strength is flexible token design with open developer tooling. The main caveat is that launched tokens are speculative and unvetted, fixed tax rates cost traders, and the team and audit details are not summarized in the docs, so check them before using it.

What is Flap?

Flap is an on-chain token launch protocol for EVM networks. The documentation says it came out of an ETHGlobal hackathon win, and its aim is to give creators decentralized tools to launch tokens and design their own token standards.

It supports plain tokens and tax tokens, where creators set a trading fee of 1%, 3%, 5% or 10%. Developers can write custom vault contracts to manage that revenue and can publish vault templates through a Vault Factory. Third-party listings place Flap on BNB Chain, and a news report says it added a Permissionless Launch feature there.

Flap also has a FLAP token that trades on BNB Smart Chain according to market listings. The docs additionally mention extras such as a token locker guide, an AI oracle preview and AI agent skills.

How Flap works

A creator launches a token through a Flap contract, called the Portal, or the VaultPortal if a vault is used. The token starts on a bonding curve, a formula that sets the price from how much has been bought. Early buyers pay less, and the price rises as demand grows.

Once the token meets the migration conditions in the docs, it moves to a DEX where it trades in a normal liquidity pool. Tax tokens charge a fixed fee on trades, and a vault contract can receive and distribute that revenue, for example as dividends, burns or treasury funding.

The Permissionless Launch feature on BNB Chain, reported by a news outlet citing Flap's post on X, lets users pick custom quote tokens for pairs instead of a preset list. Programmable options such as creator wallets, revenue sharing, burns and liquidity settings can be layered on.

8 features

Key features

01

Bonding curve launches

Tokens launch on a bonding curve and later migrate to a DEX. This gives a token a price from the first trade without a manual liquidity setup.

02

Tax and non-tax tokens

Creators can launch a non-tax token or a tax token with a fixed trading fee of 1%, 3%, 5% or 10%.

03

Tax vaults

Developers can write custom smart contracts that manage tax revenue, following a published vault specification. Vaults can also be shown on the website and in supported terminals.

04

Vault Factory monetization

Developers can build their own vault templates through a Vault Factory. They can earn money when users choose those templates.

05

Permissionless Launch

A feature on BNB Chain lets users choose custom quote tokens for trading pairs, including RWA tokens, major crypto assets and meme tokens. Creator wallets, revenue sharing, burns and liquidity settings can be added.

06

Wallet and terminal support

The docs list OKX Wallet, Binance Wallet, GMGN, Debot, Ave.ai, Dragun and Axiom as supporting Flap tokens.

07

Developer documentation

The documentation covers indexing events, inspecting tokens, trading, migration and building vault UIs for wallet, terminal and bot developers.

08

Extra tooling

The docs reference a Token Locker integration guide, an AI oracle preview and Flap skills for AI agents, which extend the core launch tools.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Supports both non-tax and tax tokens, with four fixed fee rates for creators.
  • Open vault specification and Vault Factory let developers build and monetize custom revenue logic.
  • Broad wallet and terminal support, including OKX Wallet and Binance Wallet, helps discoverability.
  • Detailed developer documentation covers launching, indexing, trading and migration.
  • Docs include an Audit Reports section.

Watch out for

  • Tokens launched on bonding-curve platforms are often highly speculative, and many have thin liquidity and sharp price swings.
  • Tax tokens charge a fixed 1%, 3%, 5% or 10% fee on trades, which can discourage buyers and be misused by creators.
  • Custom vaults and quote tokens add smart-contract complexity, and each vault template carries its own risk.
  • The docs do not list team members, funding or detailed legal and regulatory status.
  • Third-party wallet and terminal support depends on those platforms, not on Flap itself.
  • Chain coverage is described inconsistently across sources, so users should confirm which network they are using.

Flap fees

Flap's own protocol fee schedule is not set out in the material reviewed. Users would see bonding-curve and migration details in the developer docs, and fee analytics for the protocol are published by third-party dashboards.

Tax tokens add a fee set by the token creator at 1%, 3%, 5% or 10% on trades. Normal network gas applies to every transaction.

Is Flap safe?

The docs include an Audit Reports section, but the findings are not summarized in the material reviewed. Flap is a smart-contract protocol, so users keep custody of their own funds, but they carry contract risk, including risk in third-party vaults.

The tokens launched on Flap are created by anyone and are not vetted by the protocol, so rug pulls, thin liquidity and heavy price swings are possible. Licensing and regulatory status are not published in the docs. Verify official contract addresses and never invest more than you can afford to lose.

6 steps

How to get started with Flap

  1. 1

Read the Basic & Mechanism and Bonding Curve sections of the documentation so you understand how pricing and migration work.

  2. 2

Choose a wallet that supports the chain you want, such as Binance Wallet or OKX Wallet, and fund it with the network's gas token.

  3. 3

Confirm the official contract addresses in the docs before approving any transaction.

  4. 4

If launching a token, decide between a non-tax and tax token, and pick a tax rate and vault if needed.

  5. 5

Launch through the Portal or VaultPortal following the token launcher guide, or trade existing tokens through a supported terminal.

  6. 6

Check a token's tax rate, creator wallet and liquidity before buying, and size positions for a possible total loss.

Who Flap is for

Flap is for token creators, community builders and developers who want to launch tokens with custom tax or revenue-sharing logic without writing a launch system from scratch. It also suits traders who already use meme-token terminals and understand bonding-curve and rug-pull risk.

Flap FAQs

What is Flap?

Flap is an on-chain token launch protocol on EVM chains. Creators launch tokens that trade on a bonding curve and can later migrate to a decentralized exchange. The docs say it came out of an ETHGlobal hackathon win.

How does a token launch on Flap work?

The documentation lists a bonding curve and a migration to a DEX, with a Portal and a VaultPortal as launch entry points. Details of the curve parameters sit in the developer docs.

What is a Flap tax token?

A tax token charges a fee on trades, which the creator sets at 1%, 3%, 5% or 10%. The proceeds can fund community incentives, marketing, treasury or charity, and a vault contract can manage them.

Which blockchains does Flap support?

Third-party sources describe Flap as running on BNB Chain, and the docs mention a Robinhood Chain integration guide. The docs describe Flap generally as EVM-based, so check the current list of deployed contract addresses before using it.

Which wallets and terminals support Flap tokens?

Flap lists support from OKX Wallet, Binance Wallet, GMGN, Debot, Ave.ai, Dragun and Axiom. This is intended to help tokens get discovered and traded quickly.

Is Flap safe?

The docs include an Audit Reports section, but public information here do not detail the findings. Audits reduce but do not remove smart-contract risk, and the tokens that creators launch are not vetted by Flap.
