ActiveRosen Bridge Review 2026: Ergo-Centric Cross-Chain Bridge
Rosen Bridge is an open-source, Ergo-centric bridge linking Ergo with Cardano, Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB Chain and Dogecoin. Its two-layer Watcher and Guard design is documented in detail, but DefiLlama lists no audits and TVL is small.

Our verdict on Rosen Bridge
6.0/10Rosen Bridge suits Ergo users and people who want to move assets between Ergo and chains like Cardano, Bitcoin or Ethereum. Its main strength is a clearly documented Watcher and Guard model with collateral and cold storage. The main caveat is that DefiLlama lists no audits, TVL is only about 1.08 million USD, and Guards form a federated trusted set. Treat it as a niche bridge and keep transfers modest.

What is Rosen Bridge?
Rosen Bridge is an open-source protocol for moving assets between blockchains. It is built around Ergo, which serves as the hub, and DefiLlama lists connections to Cardano, Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB Chain and Dogecoin. It has been tracked on DefiLlama since June 2024.
The homepage describes a two-layer model. Watchers monitor each chain and report events, and Guards verify those reports and sign the resulting payments. The site lists the Guard Set as including Nautilus, Machina Finance, Spectrum, ErgoPad, Lilium, Minotaur, ErgoRaffle, Duckpools, Zengate, Sigmanauts and two Rosen Core entries.
TVL is roughly 1.08 million USD, down 13% over the past week, and DefiLlama lists no audits. This is a small bridge with a documented design, and the project does not establish its track record beyond that.
How Rosen Bridge works
Rosen uses Ergo as a hub. When a user sends assets on a connected chain such as Cardano or Bitcoin, Watchers dedicated to that chain observe the transfer and report it on Ergo. Each Watcher acts independently, and a final report is only created once enough distinct Watchers report the same event.
Guards then take over. Each Guard verifies the event on its own, the Guards agree on one payment transaction, and a quorum signs it with multiparty signatures. All events and payments are audited by all Guards to prevent double-payment.
Incentives rely on collateral. Watchers stake RSN and ERG, Guards lock RSN, and both can lose funds for malicious behavior. They earn bridge fees and RSN emissions for settled transfers.
8 features
Key features
01
Two-layer security
Watchers report events and Guards verify and sign them, so two separate groups must agree before funds move.
02
Ergo-centric hub design
Ergo acts as the hub, which reduces the number of smart contracts needed on bridged chains.
03
Permissionless Watchers
Anyone who stakes enough RSN and ERG can run a Watcher for a chain and earn rewards for settled transfers.
04
Federated Guard set
Guards sign through multisignature contracts and wallets. Each Guard locks collateral and loses it on malicious behavior.
05
Cold storage
Funds are held in multi-signature cold wallets, so only a fraction is at risk if there is a bug or hack.
06
Direct event verification
Verification is done off-chain directly on the origin chain, without depending on smart contracts or proofs on that chain.
07
Auditable trace on Ergo
Bridge events are tracked on the Ergo blockchain, which supports auditing of transfers.
08
Modular chain expansion
New chains are added through chain-specific modules, with a token allocation set aside for liquidity on new chains.
Pros and cons
What we like
- Open-source code that anyone can inspect.
- Layered verification: Watchers report, then Guards verify, agree and sign by quorum.
- Collateral and slashing for Watchers and Guards align incentives against fraud.
- Cold-storage multisig wallets limit how much is exposed to a single failure.
- Connects Ergo with Bitcoin, Ethereum, Cardano, BNB Chain and Dogecoin.
- Anyone can run a Watcher with enough RSN and ERG.
Watch out for
- DefiLlama lists no audits for the protocol, so no independent security review is documented publicly.
- Guards are a federated set of named entities, so the bridge relies on a trusted majority rather than purely trustless verification.
- TVL is about 1.08 million USD and fell 13% over seven days, which points to limited liquidity for larger transfers.
- Fees are not published publicly, so users cannot judge costs before bridging.
- The design is Ergo-centric, so every transfer routes through Ergo, which adds a dependency on that chain.
- The RSN token is tied to security and fee mechanics, which adds token-price and incentive risk.
Rosen Bridge fees
Specific bridge fee amounts are not published. Users would see the fee for a given transfer in the Rosen app before confirming.
The tokenomics page says Guards oversee the fee structure. On each successful transfer the fee is collected by Guards and a near-equivalent amount of RSN is emitted to the Guard Set and involved Watchers. After RSN emission ends, all bridge fees will be collected in RSN, and holding RSN will give projects fee benefits. Users should also expect network fees on the source and destination chains.
Is Rosen Bridge safe?
DefiLlama lists zero audits for Rosen Bridge. The homepage describes protections such as multi-signature cold wallets, collateral with slashing, and a quorum requirement for Guards, but these are the project's own claims and public sources include no independent review or incident history.
The Guard Set is a federated group, so users trust that a majority of Guards stay honest and operational. Bridges generally concentrate funds and are frequent hack targets, so only bridge amounts you can afford to lose and avoid leaving funds in transit longer than needed.
6 steps
How to get started with Rosen Bridge
- 1
Open the official Rosen site and use the Launch App button.
- 2
Choose the source and destination chains from those supported, such as Ergo, Cardano, Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB Chain or Dogecoin.
- 3
Connect a compatible wallet. Ergo users commonly use Ergo wallets such as Nautilus, which is listed among the Guard entities.
- 4
Check the quoted bridge fee and wait for the required confirmations on the origin chain.
- 5
Start with a small test transfer before moving larger amounts.
- 6
Optionally, read the Watcher documentation if you want to run a Watcher by staking RSN and ERG.
Who Rosen Bridge is for
Rosen Bridge is for users in the Ergo ecosystem who need to move value to or from Cardano, Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB Chain or Dogecoin, and for technically inclined holders who want to run a Watcher. It is less suited to people moving large sums or who require audited, fully trustless infrastructure.
Rosen Bridge FAQs
What is Rosen Bridge?
Rosen Bridge is an open-source protocol for cross-chain asset transfers. It uses Ergo as a hub and connects it to other blockchains through Watchers and Guards.
Which chains does Rosen Bridge support?
DefiLlama lists Ergo, Cardano, Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB Chain and Dogecoin. The architecture is built so new chains can be added through independent chain-specific modules.
How does Rosen Bridge keep transfers secure?
Watchers monitor a chain and report bridge events on Ergo. Guards verify the reports, agree on a payment transaction and sign it with a quorum multisignature. Guards are a federated group, and the bridge tolerates failure or collusion as long as a majority of Guards stay healthy.
What is the RSN token used for?
RSN is the utility token of Rosen. Watchers stake RSN and ERG as collateral to get reporting permits, and Guards lock RSN as collateral. Once RSN emission has ended, bridge fees will be collected in RSN, and holding it will give projects fee benefits. Max supply is 1,000,000,000.
Can anyone run a Watcher?
The homepage says anyone can become a Watcher by running the Watcher app for a chosen network, holding enough RSN and ERG, and posting collateral to receive reporting permits. Watchers earn rewards for accurate reporting and can be penalized for fraud.
Has Rosen Bridge been audited?
DefiLlama lists zero audits for Rosen Bridge. The code is open source and the team describes multi-layer protections, but readers should treat this as unaudited and only bridge amounts they can afford to risk.
