Minterest Review 2026: Lending Protocol Now Permanently Closed

Minterest was a multi-chain DeFi lending protocol that has sunset and is permanently closed. Only existing users can withdraw, and only by calling the smart contracts directly.

Our verdict on Minterest

2.0/10

Minterest is not an option for new users: it is permanently closed, with no new deposits, rewards or emissions. The main strength is a clearly announced wind-down and a published way to withdraw through the smart contracts on Mantle, Ethereum, Taiko and Morph. The main caveat is that withdrawals need direct contract interaction with no app UI, so anyone with remaining funds should follow the official guide carefully and verify addresses before signing.

What is Minterest?

Minterest was a decentralised lending protocol listed on DefiLlama since January 2024, operating on Mantle, Ethereum, Taiko and Morph. It was marketed as capturing more fees than other lending protocols and passing them to users who took part in governance.

The project has now shut down. Its homepage states that Minterest has sunset operations, is permanently closed and has completed an orderly wind-down. The application UI is no longer available, and no new deposits, rewards or emissions are supported.

DefiLlama still shows roughly $100,348 in TVL, a small residual amount. The site and documentation are kept for historical reference, and existing users can only withdraw by interacting with the smart contracts directly.

How Minterest works

Minterest was a pooled lending protocol. Users supplied assets such as ETH and stablecoins into shared pools to earn yield, and borrowers could take loans against their deposited collateral. Interest paid by borrowers formed the yield for suppliers.

The project described a model that redistributed fees as rewards to users who contributed to governance, with the MINTY token used for rewards and governance.

That is now historical. The protocol has been wound down, the app UI has been removed, and no new deposits, rewards or emissions are supported. What remains are the deployed contracts, which let existing users withdraw positions directly.

Key features

01

Permanent sunset status

The protocol has completed an orderly wind-down. The site and documentation are kept for historical and reference purposes only.

02

Contract-level withdrawals

Existing users can close positions by interacting with the contracts on Mantle, Ethereum, Taiko and Morph, following the published guide.

03

Sunset Hub guides

The project runs a Sunset Hub in its documentation with closure details and per-chain interaction guides.

04

Archived documentation

Historical whitepaper, technical paper and blog remain available for reference.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • The team ran a clear, publicly announced orderly wind-down rather than disappearing
  • Users can still withdraw directly via smart contracts on all four chains
  • A Sunset Hub and per-chain contract guides are published
  • Historical whitepaper, technical paper and blog remain available
  • DefiLlama lists two audits for the protocol

Watch out for

  • The protocol is permanently closed, so no new deposits, rewards or emissions are supported
  • The application UI is no longer available; withdrawals require direct smart-contract interaction
  • Contract-level withdrawals are error-prone for non-technical users
  • Remaining TVL is very small (about $100,000 per DefiLlama), which suggests few funds are left
  • MINTY rewards and governance utility have ended along with emissions
  • Smart-contract risk remains for anyone with funds still deployed

Minterest fees

Fee details are not published publicly. DefiLlama and the homepage describe a model that captured protocol fees and redistributed them as rewards to governance participants, but no rates are given.

Since the protocol is closed, there are no new deposits or rewards. Anyone withdrawing through the contracts will pay network gas on the relevant chain, and the amount depends on that network.

Is Minterest safe?

Public sources say deployed assets remain secure and users can withdraw through the contracts. This is the project's own statement and we have not verified it. DefiLlama lists two audits, but the project does not name the auditors or scope.

Risks remain. The homepage itself warns that smart-contract exploits, market volatility and technical failures can lead to partial or total loss. With the front end gone and no active team operations, users should verify contract addresses against the official documentation and be wary of phishing sites posing as a withdrawal tool.

6 steps

How to get started with Minterest

  1. 1

Confirm you still hold a Minterest position by checking your wallet on a block explorer for the relevant chain (Mantle, Ethereum, Taiko or Morph).

  2. 2

Open the official Minterest Sunset Hub through the project's own site and read the Contract Interaction Guide for your chain.

  3. 3

Verify the contract addresses in the documentation before connecting a wallet or signing anything.

  4. 4

Make sure your wallet holds enough native gas token on that chain to pay for the withdrawal transaction.

  5. 5

Follow the guide's steps to withdraw your position directly via the smart contract.

  6. 6

Confirm the assets arrived in your wallet and revoke any leftover approvals.

Who Minterest is for

This page is for people who used Minterest in the past and still have funds deployed, and for researchers looking at the history of DeFi lending protocols. It is not for anyone looking for a lending platform today.

Minterest FAQs

Is Minterest still active?

No. The homepage states Minterest has sunset operations and is permanently closed, with an orderly wind-down completed. The app UI is gone and no new deposits, rewards or emissions are supported.

How do I withdraw my funds from Minterest?

The homepage says existing users can withdraw directly through the smart contracts on Mantle, Ethereum, Taiko and Morph. Step-by-step instructions are in the Contract Interaction Guide on the Sunset Hub in the project documentation.

Are my funds still safe on Minterest?

Public sources say any deployed assets remain secure and can be withdrawn through the contracts. They also warn that smart-contract exploits and technical failures can cause partial or total loss, so check contract addresses against the official documentation before interacting.

What happened to the MINTY token?

MINTY was the protocol's token for rewards and governance. Public sources say rewards and emissions are no longer supported, and they do not describe any ongoing utility for the token.

What did Minterest do?

Minterest was a decentralised lending protocol where users supplied assets to earn yield and borrowed against their portfolio. It was listed on Mantle, Ethereum, Taiko and Morph, and fee revenue was meant to flow back to users who took part in governance.
