Our verdict on Increment Swap

6.3/10

Increment Swap suits users already active on Flow who want a permissionless AMM with stableswap pools and routing across several paths. Its main strengths are the non-custodial design, the two listed audits and a frontend mirrored across decentralized hosts. The main caveat is size: about $1.1 million in TVL means limited depth, and the fee schedule and audit details are not published in the sources reviewed. Treat it as a niche venue, check quotes carefully and keep positions small.

What is Increment Swap?

Increment Swap is a permissionless decentralized exchange on the Flow blockchain. It is built on a constant-product automated market maker and has been tracked since July 2022. It is part of the wider Increment Finance project.

Total value locked is about $1.1 million, with a small decline over the past week. That is modest next to major DEXes, but it is meaningful for the Flow ecosystem. Two audits are listed for the project.

The product covers standard token swaps, liquidity pools and stableswap pools for correlated assets. The documentation also says the frontend is hosted on IPFS, the Internet Computer and Arweave. The homepage currently points to a live points program, though the details are not published on the page.

How Increment Swap works

Increment Swap is an automated market maker. Instead of matching buyers and sellers, it holds pools of two tokens. A formula keeps the product of the two token balances constant, so the price shifts as traders buy from or sell into a pool.

Liquidity providers deposit tokens into pools and earn a share of trading fees, though they also take on impermanent loss when prices move. The exchange also has stableswap pools, which use a different curve to give low slippage between assets that should trade near the same value.

When you swap, the router can split the trade across several paths to get the best available amount. The frontend is mirrored on IPFS, the Internet Computer and Arweave, and the contracts run on Flow.

6 features

Key features

01

Constant-product AMM

Trades execute against pooled liquidity using a constant-product formula. Anyone can add liquidity or trade without approval.

02

Stableswap pools

Stableswap pools are built for assets that are closely correlated, which keeps slippage low compared with a standard pool.

03

Multi-path routing

The swap can use several routing paths so a trade fills for the best possible amount for the size requested.

04

Decentralized frontend hosting

The application frontend is hosted on IPFS, the Internet Computer and Arweave, which reduces reliance on a single web server.

05

Points program

The homepage states that a points program is live. Eligibility rules and rewards are not described on the page.

06

Documentation and tutorials

The project maintains documentation, tutorials and community-written guides, including video walkthroughs, for new users.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Permissionless, non-custodial exchange where users keep control of their funds.
  • Offers stableswap pools for low-slippage trading between correlated assets.
  • Multi-path routing aims to get a better fill than a single-pool swap.
  • Frontend is mirrored on IPFS, the Internet Computer and Arweave, so it is harder to take offline.
  • Two audits are listed and the project has been live since 2022.
  • Public documentation and community tutorials help newcomers.

Watch out for

  • Total value locked is only about $1.1 million, so larger trades can move prices noticeably.
  • TVL fell about 8% over the last seven days, which is a small but visible sign of weak momentum.
  • The pool fee schedule is not published in the sources reviewed, so costs are only visible inside the app.
  • Runs only on Flow, so it has a smaller user base and fewer assets than DEXes on larger chains.
  • The team and the contents of the two audits are not described in the sources reviewed.
  • The Increment name is also used for a separate perpetuals protocol on zkSync Era, which can confuse newcomers.

Increment Swap fees

Swap fees and liquidity-provider fee splits are not published in the sources reviewed. Users would see the fee and expected price impact in the swap interface before confirming, and the project's documentation is the place to look for the fee structure.

On top of any pool fee, users pay Flow network transaction fees. Slippage is a further cost, and it can be meaningful in pools with low liquidity.

Is Increment Swap safe?

The exchange is non-custodial: swaps and liquidity positions are handled by smart contracts, and you sign each transaction from your own wallet. Two audits are listed for the project, but the sources reviewed do not publish who performed them or what they found, so readers should check the documentation for the reports.

Smart-contract bugs, thin liquidity, impermanent loss and token price swings are the main risks. With TVL near $1.1 million, a single large position or exploit would be material. Hosting the frontend on several decentralized networks reduces the risk of a website takedown, but it does not remove contract risk. No incidents are mentioned in the sources reviewed. Check that you are using the official address, as lookalike sites are a common scam.

6 steps

How to get started with Increment Swap

  1. 1

Set up a Flow-compatible wallet and keep a small amount of FLOW for network fees.

  2. 2

Open the Increment app and check that you are on the official address from the project's documentation.

  3. 3

Connect your wallet and approve the connection.

  4. 4

Choose the tokens you want to swap, enter an amount and review the quoted rate, price impact and fee.

  5. 5

Confirm the transaction in your wallet and check the result in the app.

  6. 6

If you want to provide liquidity, read the documentation on pools and impermanent loss first, and start with a small deposit.

Who Increment Swap is for

Increment Swap is for people who already hold FLOW or Flow-based assets and want to swap them or provide liquidity on a Flow-native exchange. It suits users comfortable with self-custody and basic AMM concepts like slippage and impermanent loss. It is a poor fit for large traders who need deep liquidity, or for anyone who wants a long list of chains and products.

Increment Swap FAQs

What is Increment Swap?

Increment Swap is a decentralized exchange on the Flow blockchain. It uses a constant-product automated market maker, where users trade against pooled liquidity instead of an order book. It is permissionless, so anyone can swap or provide liquidity.

Which blockchain does Increment Swap use?

It runs on Flow. You need a Flow-compatible wallet to connect to the app and approve transactions. The project does not describe support for other chains for the swap product.

Does Increment Swap have a token?

No token is listed for the swap product in the sources reviewed. The homepage says a points program is live, but it does not say what the points are for. Treat any future reward as unconfirmed until the project announces details.

Does it support stablecoin swaps?

The project's documentation says the swap supports several routing paths, so a trade can be filled across more than one route to get the best amount. It also offers stableswap pools, which are designed for low-slippage trading between assets that track each other closely.

Is Increment Swap safe?

Two audits are listed for the project, but the sources reviewed do not publish their scope or findings. The exchange is non-custodial, so you keep your keys, but smart-contract bugs are still possible. TVL is small, which also adds liquidity risk. Never put in more than you can afford to lose.

Is this the same as the Increment perpetuals protocol on zkSync?

Not necessarily. The name Increment is also used for a perpetual swaps protocol on zkSync Era with an INCR token. This review covers the Flow-based swap, which has no token listed.
