Weak
Our verdict on CarbonSwap
4.8/10CarbonSwap suits curious DeFi users who want to explore Energy Web Chain and like the sustainability theme. Its strength is a complete small ecosystem: an AMM, an Omnibridge to Ethereum, an NFT marketplace and the SUSU token. The main caveat is risk. Liquidity is thin at roughly 61,849 USD TVL, no audits are listed, and the bridge adds extra exposure. Treat it as experimental and keep exposure small.

What is CarbonSwap?
CarbonSwap describes itself as a family of interconnected, sustainability-focused DeFi and NFT products. The first pieces were an automated market maker DEX and a bi-directional ERC-to-ERC bridge, called the Omnibridge, between Ethereum Mainnet and Energy Web Chain. A community post calls it the first zero-carbon DEX on the Energy Web blockchain.
Beyond swapping, the project has an NFT marketplace called GreenSea, with themed collections and merchandise tie-ins, and a token called SUSU used for farming and governance. It has been tracked since October 2021, and its public code lives on GitHub.
The scale is small. Total value locked is around 61,849 USD with a 1.7% rise over seven days, and no audits are listed. The homepage could not be checked for this review, so current activity should be confirmed directly on the site.
How CarbonSwap works
CarbonSwap is an automated market maker. Instead of matching buyers and sellers in an order book, it holds pools of two tokens. Traders swap against the pool, and the price moves according to the pool balance. Liquidity providers deposit both tokens and earn a share of trading fees, and they also take on impermanent loss.
Because it lives on Energy Web Chain, assets from Ethereum need to be moved over first. The Omnibridge locks or wraps an ERC token on Ethereum Mainnet and issues a wrapped version on Energy Web Chain. Once the transaction completes, the wrapped asset can be traded on CarbonSwap. The same path works in reverse.
The SUSU token ties into farming and a weighted, token-based governance model described by the project. The GreenSea marketplace extends the product family to NFTs.
6 features
Key features
01
AMM decentralized exchange
A constant-product style AMM lets users swap tokens and provide liquidity on Energy Web Chain without an order book or central custodian.
02
Omnibridge to Ethereum
A bi-directional bridge moves ERC tokens between Ethereum Mainnet and Energy Web Chain, wrapping them on the destination chain.
03
GreenSea NFT marketplace
GreenSea is an NFT marketplace linked to the project, with themed collections and a published tutorial. NFT contracts such as Season 1 are visible on the chain explorer.
04
SUSU token and farming
SUSU is used for farming and for a weighted, token-based governance model that the project describes as community-driven.
05
Sustainability positioning
The project positions itself as the first zero-carbon DEX on Energy Web Chain, a network built around energy-sector and sustainability use cases.
06
Public code repositories
The project keeps public code repositories on GitHub, which allows technical users to inspect parts of its software.
Pros and cons
What we like
- Fills a niche as a DEX on Energy Web Chain with a clear sustainability theme
- Omnibridge links the chain to Ethereum Mainnet for moving ERC tokens
- Includes an NFT marketplace and SUSU farming beyond plain swaps
- Public GitHub presence and on-chain NFT contracts that can be inspected
- Non-custodial AMM design means users keep control of their wallets
Watch out for
- Very small TVL of about 61,849 USD, so liquidity is thin and larger trades may see heavy price impact
- No audits are listed for the protocol
- Runs on Energy Web Chain, a niche network with far fewer tools, wallets and traders than Ethereum
- The bridge adds smart-contract risk on top of the exchange itself
- Team, fees and governance details are not clearly published in the material reviewed
- Most public write-ups date from 2021, so current development activity is unclear
CarbonSwap fees
CarbonSwap does not publish a fee schedule in the material reviewed. As an AMM, it would normally charge a small swap fee that goes to liquidity providers, and the rate is usually shown in the swap interface before you confirm a trade.
You should also expect network gas on Energy Web Chain and, when moving assets across the Omnibridge, transaction costs on Ethereum Mainnet. Check the quoted fee and price impact on screen before every swap or bridge transfer.
Is CarbonSwap safe?
No audits are listed for CarbonSwap, and the material reviewed does not name a team or a bug bounty. AMM contracts and bridges are both common targets for exploits, and a bridge failure can leave wrapped tokens unbacked. Keep amounts small and approve only what you need.
CarbonSwap is non-custodial, so you hold your own keys, but that also means mistakes cannot be reversed. Its regulatory status is not published. Check that DeFi use is legal where you live.
6 steps
How to get started with CarbonSwap
- 1
Check that using a DeFi exchange is permitted where you live and understand that this is a small, unaudited venue.
- 2
Set up an EVM-compatible wallet and add Energy Web Chain as a network.
- 3
Use the Omnibridge to move a small test amount of an ERC token from Ethereum Mainnet to Energy Web Chain.
- 4
Wait for the transaction to finish and confirm the wrapped asset appears in your wallet.
- 5
Open the CarbonSwap exchange, connect the wallet and review the quoted fee and price impact before a small swap.
- 6
Only add liquidity or farm SUSU after reading the pool terms and accepting impermanent loss and smart-contract risk.
Who CarbonSwap is for
CarbonSwap is for experienced DeFi users who are already active on Energy Web Chain or interested in sustainability-themed projects and accept the risk of a small, unaudited protocol. It is a poor fit for anyone who needs deep liquidity, large trades or audited, battle-tested contracts.
CarbonSwap FAQs
What is CarbonSwap?
CarbonSwap is a family of sustainability-focused DeFi and NFT products. It started with an AMM decentralized exchange and an Omnibridge that moves ERC tokens between Ethereum Mainnet and Energy Web Chain. It also has an NFT marketplace called GreenSea.
Which blockchain does CarbonSwap use?
It runs on Energy Web Chain. A bridge connects it to Ethereum Mainnet so that ERC tokens can be wrapped and traded on the Energy Web side.
What is the SUSU token?
SUSU is the token tied to CarbonSwap, and a community guide describes farming it. The project describes weighted token-based governance. Exact tokenomics are not covered in the material reviewed.
How do I get tokens onto CarbonSwap?
You bridge assets from Ethereum Mainnet to Energy Web Chain using the Omnibridge. Once the transaction completes, the wrapped assets appear on Energy Web Chain and can be traded on CarbonSwap.
Is CarbonSwap safe?
No audits are listed for the protocol. Its TVL is also small. Treat it as a high-risk, experimental venue and only use money you can afford to lose.
What fees does CarbonSwap charge?
The project does not publish a clear fee table in the material reviewed. Swap fees in AMMs are normally shown in the trading interface before you confirm, and you also pay network gas and any bridge costs.
