Our verdict on Baryon Network

5.4/10

Baryon Network suits users who want a straightforward swap, farm and stake interface on BNB Chain, Viction or Bitkub Chain and who are comfortable with a small, low-liquidity venue. Its strengths are a complete product set, non-custodial design and a named auditor in Inspex. The main caveats are liquidity of roughly $27,000, unpublished fees and reward terms, no named team and no native token. Treat it as a niche option, test with small amounts and read the audit before depositing.

What is Baryon Network?

Baryon Network is a decentralized exchange built around three products: BaryonSwap, an automated market maker; BaryonFarm, for extra rewards on liquidity; and BaryonStake, for single-token staking. DefiLlama lists it on BNB Chain, Viction (under its older Tomochain label), Bitkub Chain and Ancient8, and has tracked it since August 2022.

One announcement from late 2022 says the project was incubated by Coin98 Labs. The homepage describes it as a trusted, permissionless DEX that leans on low gas fees on EVM chains and a clean interface. It also says its audits are conducted by Inspex, and DefiLlama counts two audits.

The scale is small. Total value locked is about $27,000, and no native token is listed. That makes it a niche venue rather than a main liquidity hub, and the site does not name its team or publish fee details.

Note that Baryon Ventures, an investment firm that appears in public reporting, is a separate-looking entity. The project does not establish that it operates this DEX.

How Baryon Network works

Baryon Network is an automated market maker. Instead of matching buyers and sellers, it uses liquidity pools, which are smart contracts holding pairs of tokens. When you swap, you trade against a pool, and the price moves according to the pool's ratio of the two tokens.

Liquidity providers supply tokens to those pools and earn a share of trading activity. The farm product adds extra rewards for providing liquidity. Providers face impermanent loss, which happens when the relative price of the two tokens changes after deposit.

BaryonStake works differently. Users stake a single token to earn rewards, which the homepage says involves no impermanent loss. Reward sources and rates are not described on the homepage. All three products run through the user's own wallet, which the project says keeps users in control of their funds.

6 features

Key features

01

BaryonSwap AMM

An automated market maker lets users trade tokens directly from their wallets against liquidity pools, with no order book or account.

02

Liquidity pools

Users can add tokens to pools and receive a share of the trading activity. The site has dedicated Liquidity and Pools pages.

03

BaryonFarm yield

BaryonFarm offers extra rewards on top of liquidity provision. Rates are shown in the app rather than on the homepage.

04

BaryonStake pools

BaryonStake lets users stake tokens for passive income. The homepage notes there is no impermanent loss because only one asset is staked.

05

Multi-chain deployment

The project runs on BNB Chain, Viction and Bitkub Chain, with DefiLlama also listing Ancient8. This lets users pick a network with lower gas costs.

06

Snapshot governance link

The site links to a Snapshot page, indicating that governance or community voting is done off-chain through Snapshot.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Covers swap, liquidity pools, farming and staking in one interface, so users can trade and earn without leaving the app.
  • Non-custodial and permissionless: you trade from your own wallet and do not need an account.
  • Homepage names Inspex as its auditor, and DefiLlama lists two audits.
  • Deployed on several EVM chains, including BNB Chain, Viction and Bitkub Chain, where gas costs are typically low.
  • Single-token staking avoids impermanent loss, which suits users who do not want to supply pairs.
  • Links to documentation, a blog and community channels, and a Snapshot page for governance.

Watch out for

  • Total value locked is only about $27,000, so liquidity is thin and larger swaps will likely move prices noticeably.
  • No native token is listed, and the project does not explain how liquidity providers are rewarded beyond trading fees and 'extra rewards' on farms.
  • Swap fees, farm reward rates and staking terms are not stated on the homepage.
  • The team and governance structure are not named on the site.
  • Only the auditor's name is given on the homepage; the audit scope and findings are not summarised there.
  • Activity appears low, with the most prominent announcements dating from 2022.

Baryon Network fees

Baryon Network does not publish swap fees, farm reward rates or staking terms on its homepage. Users would see the fee and any price impact in the swap interface before confirming a trade, and farm and stake pages should show reward details.

On top of any protocol fee, every transaction costs network gas. The homepage says the supported EVM chains offer low gas fees, but actual costs depend on the chain and current congestion.

Is Baryon Network safe?

The homepage lists security as a priority and states that audits are conducted by Inspex, and DefiLlama lists two audits. The audit reports, dates and scope are not summarised on the homepage, so read them directly. An audit does not guarantee that code is free of bugs, and upgrades after the audit may not be covered.

The DEX is non-custodial, so funds stay in your wallet until you add them to a pool or stake them, at which point they sit in smart contracts. Risks include contract bugs, impermanent loss, thin liquidity, price manipulation on small pools and fake tokens. No licence or regulatory status is stated, and the team is not named on the site. Using a small DEX with very low liquidity also raises the chance that you cannot exit a position at a fair price.

6 steps

How to get started with Baryon Network

  1. 1

Open the official Baryon Network site and check that the address matches the one linked from the project's verified social accounts.

  2. 2

Choose a supported network such as BNB Chain, Viction or Bitkub Chain, and add it to your wallet if needed.

  3. 3

Connect your wallet using the Connect Wallet button and fund it with the network's gas token.

  4. 4

Start with a small swap and review the price impact and fee shown before confirming.

  5. 5

If you want to provide liquidity or farm, read the pool details and understand impermanent loss first.

  6. 6

For staking, check the pool's token, reward terms and any lock-up before depositing, and read the Inspex audit report.

Who Baryon Network is for

Baryon Network fits DeFi users who already use BNB Chain, Viction or Bitkub Chain and want a basic AMM with farming and single-token staking. It is less suitable for anyone trading large sizes, since liquidity is thin, or for users who need published fee schedules, a named team and an active product roadmap before committing funds.

Baryon Network FAQs

What is Baryon Network?

Baryon Network is a decentralized exchange that runs on EVM blockchains. It offers token swaps through an AMM, liquidity pools, yield farming and single-asset staking. DefiLlama lists it on BNB Chain, Viction (listed as Tomochain), Bitkub Chain and Ancient8.

Has Baryon Network been audited?

The homepage says audits are conducted by Inspex, and DefiLlama lists two audits for the project. The audit reports are not summarised on the homepage, so check the full reports and their dates before depositing funds. An audit lowers risk but does not remove it.

Does Baryon Network have its own token?

DefiLlama shows no token for Baryon Network. The project does not name a native token, so do not assume one exists, and treat any token claiming to be a Baryon token with caution until confirmed on the official site.

Is staking on Baryon Network free of risk?

The homepage says staking lets you earn passive income with no impermanent loss, because you stake a single token rather than supplying a pair to a pool. Farming is different: you supply liquidity to a pair, so you take on impermanent loss in exchange for extra rewards.

Do I need an account to use Baryon Network?

The site is built around connecting a wallet, and it describes itself as permissionless, meaning you trade without giving up control of your funds. Any EVM-compatible wallet that supports the chain you pick should work, but check the supported networks in the app.

How much liquidity does Baryon Network have?

DefiLlama puts total value locked at roughly $27,000, down about 0.6% over seven days. That is small for a DEX, so expect limited depth and higher slippage on anything but small trades.
