Our verdict on DeepBook V3

7.5/10

DeepBook V3 suits Sui users, market makers and developers who want deep shared liquidity and self-custodial settlement from an order book. Its main strength is that the same book backs 15+ apps, with audits and a bug bounty listed. The main caveats are that it is Sui-only, fee rates are not published on the homepage, Predict is BTC-only and barred for US users, and a long list of countries is excluded.

What is DeepBook V3?

DeepBook V3 is a fully on-chain central limit order book on Sui. DefiLlama describes it as the liquidity layer of Sui, and it lists about $12.3M in TVL as of public data, with the DEEP token and two audits listed.

The homepage says the same book powers 15+ apps, reports $41.2M in 24h volume and more than $20B in cumulative volume. These are self-reported figures and we have not verified them independently.

The site now presents two products, Spot and Predict. Predict is a prediction-style market where users pick any price level or range over timeframes from one minute to two weeks. It is BTC-only for now and not available to US users. Developers and desks can also use an API, SDK and indexer.

How DeepBook V3 works

A central limit order book matches buyers and sellers at specific prices, as on a traditional exchange. DeepBook runs this entirely on-chain on Sui. Other apps can route orders into the same book, so liquidity is shared instead of being split across many separate venues.

Settlement is on-chain and atomic. According to the homepage, funds stay in the user's wallet until an order fills, so there is no custodial house account.

Predict is a separate product. Instead of a fixed menu of yes-or-no markets, users choose a price level or range and a timeframe from one minute to two weeks. A single shared pool takes the other side of each trade, so a quote is always available. BTC is the only supported asset at present.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Fully on-chain order book with self-custodial, atomic settlement
  • Shared liquidity used by 15+ apps on Sui, which can deepen markets
  • Contracts are described as audited with an active bug bounty and live since 2023
  • API, SDK and indexer access suited to market makers and bots
  • DEEP tokens are burned from trading fees, with 125.7M reported burned

Watch out for

  • Concentrated on Sui, so it is only useful to people who hold or bridge assets there
  • Predict supports BTC only for now and is unavailable to US users
  • Access is blocked in a long list of jurisdictions, including China, Russia, Singapore and the Philippines
  • The app was still showing a waitlist of 120K+, so access may not be open to everyone
  • Fee schedule is not published on the homepage, so costs are hard to compare before trading
  • Trading digital assets, especially custom range prediction positions, can lead to loss of capital

DeepBook V3 fees

The homepage does not publish a trading fee schedule. It does say that DEEP is burned from trading fees, which implies fees are charged, but the rates are not stated publicly.

Users should check the app and the official documentation for current maker and taker fees, and remember that Sui network gas fees apply to on-chain transactions.

Is DeepBook V3 safe?

The homepage says the contracts are audited, covered by an active bug bounty and have been live on Sui since 2023. DefiLlama lists two audits. The audit reports themselves were not part of public sources, so readers should read them directly. No incidents are mentioned publicly.

Custody is self-custodial, so the main risks are smart-contract bugs, wallet security and market risk rather than a platform holding deposits. The site states that the app is not available in all jurisdictions and that nothing on it is financial advice. Predict-style positions can lose their full value, so only risk what you can afford to lose.

6 steps

How to get started with DeepBook V3

  1. 1

Check that DeepBook is available in your jurisdiction and, for Predict, that you are not a US user.

  2. 2

Set up a Sui-compatible wallet and fund it with the assets you want to trade.

  3. 3

Open the DeepBook app from the official site and connect the wallet.

  4. 4

Pick a spot market, or Predict if available to you, and review the quoted price and size.

  5. 5

Place an order and confirm the transaction in your wallet.

  6. 6

Developers can read the docs, then use the API, SDK and indexer to build or automate trading.

Who DeepBook V3 is for

DeepBook V3 fits traders who already use Sui and want order-book execution, builders who need programmatic access to liquidity, and market makers running bots. It is less suitable for people in excluded jurisdictions, US users who want Predict, or anyone looking for a multi-chain venue.
