Our verdict on Momentum

7.0/10

Momentum suits Sui users who want a DEX with concentrated liquidity, ve(3,3) token locking, vaults and a bridge in one app. Its main strength is the broad Sui-native feature set. The main caveat is the modest TVL of about 3.5 million USD and the lack of published fee detail. Liquidity providers should understand impermanent loss and the incentive model, and read the audits, before committing funds.

What is Momentum?

Momentum is a decentralized exchange built on the Sui blockchain. DefiLlama describes it as a ve(3,3) DEX meant to align traders, liquidity providers and token holders. Its app title calls it a Move central liquidity engine, a nod to the Move language used on Sui.

DefiLlama shows about 3.5 million USD in TVL, a 7-day change of -0.9 percent, and two listed audits. It has been tracked since April 2025. The native token is MMT, described in public reporting as the governance and incentive token.

The app menu shows Dashboard, Trade, veMMT, Liquidity, xSUI, Vaults, Portfolio and Bridge. That makes it more than a swap page, though the project does not explain every product in detail.

How Momentum works

Momentum is a decentralized exchange, so trades are made against liquidity pools funded by users instead of an order book run by a company. Users connect a wallet, pick two tokens and swap them using on-chain smart contracts. Third-party descriptions say it uses concentrated liquidity, where providers choose a price range for their capital.

The ve(3,3) model adds a token-locking layer. Holders lock MMT to receive veMMT, which typically gives voting power over where token incentives go and a share of fees or rewards. The idea is to reward long-term holders and give liquidity providers a reason to stay in the pools that get votes.

The app also lists xSUI, Vaults and a Bridge. Exactly how these products work is not detailed publicly, so check the app's own documentation for specifics.

6 features

Key features

01

ve(3,3) design

The protocol is described as a ve(3,3) DEX in which token locking, voting and incentives are meant to align traders, liquidity providers and token holders.

02

Concentrated liquidity

Third-party descriptions call Momentum a concentrated liquidity market maker on Sui. This lets liquidity providers focus capital in chosen price ranges.

03

veMMT locking

The interface has a veMMT section, where locking the MMT token is intended to give governance power and incentive rewards.

04

xSUI and vaults

The app menu includes xSUI and Vaults sections, pointing to staking-style and managed-liquidity products beyond plain swaps.

05

Built-in bridge

A Bridge tab in the app lets users move assets to Sui from other networks, though its supported routes are not public.

06

Dashboard and portfolio

Dashboard and Portfolio pages let users see their positions and protocol data in one place.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Focused on Sui, with trading, liquidity, vaults and a bridge in one app
  • Ve(3,3) design aims to reward long-term token holders and liquidity providers
  • Two audits are listed on DefiLlama
  • Described as a concentrated liquidity DEX, which can use capital more efficiently
  • Non-custodial: users trade from their own wallet
  • TVL has been steady over the past week (-0.9 percent)

Watch out for

  • TVL of about 3.5 million USD is modest for a DEX that positions itself as core liquidity for Sui
  • Runs only on Sui, so users on other chains must bridge first
  • Fee tiers, emissions and veMMT reward rates are not given
  • Concentrated liquidity positions can suffer impermanent loss and need active management
  • The ve(3,3) model depends on token incentives and voter behavior, which can change over time
  • Only two audits are listed, and public sources give no details on scope or findings

Momentum fees

Swap fees, liquidity provider fee tiers and veMMT reward rates are not stated publicly. They should appear in the Trade and Liquidity sections of the app, and the pool pages usually show the fee tier for each pair.

On top of protocol fees, users pay Sui network gas fees. Bridging may add its own costs, which depend on the route used and are not published.

Is Momentum safe?

DefiLlama lists two audits, but the project does not name the auditors or give the findings. Like all DEXs, Momentum carries smart-contract risk, and liquidity providers face impermanent loss. Token incentives and ve(3,3) mechanics also add economic risk.

The protocol is non-custodial, so users keep control of their assets in their own wallet, but they are responsible for approvals and for spotting phishing sites. Always use the address of the official app. No incidents are mentioned publicly, and regulatory status is not stated.

6 steps

How to get started with Momentum

  1. 1

Set up a Sui-compatible wallet and keep a little SUI for gas fees.

  2. 2

Open the official Momentum app and check that the address is correct before connecting.

  3. 3

Connect the wallet and look through the Dashboard and Trade sections.

  4. 4

If your funds are on another chain, check the Bridge tab and its route details before moving them.

  5. 5

Start with a small swap to see the fees and slippage.

  6. 6

Before adding liquidity or locking MMT for veMMT, read the pool details and the audit reports.

Who Momentum is for

Momentum is for Sui users who already hold a wallet and want to swap tokens, provide concentrated liquidity or lock MMT for veMMT. It is less suited to complete beginners, who may find concentrated liquidity and ve(3,3) hard to follow, and to users who need multi-chain support.

Momentum FAQs

What is Momentum (MMT)?

Momentum is a decentralized exchange on the Sui blockchain. It uses a ve(3,3) design and, according to third-party descriptions, concentrated liquidity. Its interface also lists trading, liquidity, vaults, a portfolio view and a bridge.

What does ve(3,3) mean on Momentum?

Momentum is described as a ve(3,3) DEX. Token holders lock the native token MMT to get veMMT, which is meant to give voting power and a share of protocol incentives. The aim is to align traders, liquidity providers and token holders.

Which blockchain does Momentum run on?

Public sources list Sui as the only chain. The app also has a Bridge tab, which suggests assets can be moved in from other networks, but the bridge's routes and providers are not described publicly.

What is the MMT token used for?

MMT is the native governance and incentive token of the protocol. It is used with the veMMT locking system. A separate Solana token page appears in public reporting, so check that you have the correct token contract before buying.

Is Momentum safe to use?

DefiLlama lists two audits, but the project does not say who performed them or what they found. An audit lowers risk but does not remove it. Smart-contract bugs, impermanent loss and token price swings still apply, so read the audit reports first.

How do I start trading on Momentum?

The app has a Connect Wallet button, so you need a Sui-compatible wallet. After connecting, you can use the Trade, Liquidity, veMMT, xSUI and Vaults sections. Start with a small amount while you learn how it works.
