What FLIP is

Chainflip is a decentralised protocol for swapping cryptocurrency assets between different blockchains. The project says users can trade across networks such as Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana without using wrapped tokens or traditional bridges, and without handing custody of their assets to an intermediary during the trade. The core design is a liquidity model the project calls a Just-in-Time automated market maker, which it abbreviates as the JIT AMM. FLIP is the native token of this system. According to the project description, FLIP is primarily a utility token. Validators need FLIP to stake, and they are paid in FLIP for securing the network. The data we used lists Ethereum as the chain where FLIP is issued, and no native chain is recorded for it. Readers who plan to interact with the token should confirm the contract details from the project's own documentation rather than relying on any single listing.

What the token is used for

FLIP has three main roles in the design described by the project. The first is staking. The network is secured by a set of 150 validators who stake FLIP, and the project says those validators are rewarded in FLIP. The second is fees. The project says value returns to validators indirectly through protocol fees. The third is buying and burning. The project states that every swap on the platform leads to the automatic buying and burning of FLIP through the liquidity pool system. It describes this as putting deflationary pressure on the network as trading volume grows. A search result dated March 2026 refers to an update called FLIP 2.1, which the title describes as ending token emissions, fixing supply and directing the protocol's daily FLIP purchases to stakers. That is the project's own framing of an update, and readers should check the current documentation to see how it works in practice.

Supply, price and market data

Market data changes constantly, so the figures below are approximate and describe the position at the time of writing, as of 2026-11-05. The token was ranked around 678th by market capitalisation, with a price of about 0.32 US dollars, a market capitalisation of about 28.2 million US dollars and a 24-hour trading volume of about 170,000 US dollars. Circulating and total supply were both recorded at about 86.9 million FLIP, and no maximum supply was listed in the data. The all-time high was about 9.48 US dollars on 2024-03-07, and the all-time low was about 0.19 US dollars on 2026-04-03. Over the previous seven days the price was up roughly 6.6 percent, and over the previous year it was down roughly 5.2 percent. These figures are not predictions, and a short period of gains or losses says little about where the price will go next.

Chains and where it is used

The project describes Chainflip as working across many networks, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Polkadot and other EVM-compatible chains, and says it can be integrated with any chain that supports the relevant transaction type. The main user-facing exchange built on the protocol is the Chainflip AMM, which our site lists as a decentralised exchange for native swaps between assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana. Because the design avoids wrapped tokens and traditional bridges, it is often described as a cross-chain swap system rather than a bridge. That distinction matters for risk. Users still depend on smart contracts, validator behaviour and the liquidity available at the time of a trade. Anyone using the protocol should confirm which networks a given swap touches and check the fees and slippage shown before confirming.

Risks and storage

FLIP carries several risks that are worth understanding before anyone holds or uses it. Token prices can move sharply in either direction, and the all-time range shown above illustrates how wide those swings can be. The market capitalisation and daily trading volume recorded in the data are small, which can make prices more sensitive to individual trades. Protocol risk remains, including smart contract bugs, validator problems and changes to emission or staking rules made through governance or upgrades. Any token approval or swap should be reviewed carefully, and users should be wary of fake token contracts and copycat websites that imitate the project. For storage, many people use a self-custody wallet that they control with a seed phrase kept offline. By the numbers

Chainflip in numbers

Chainflip (FLIP) is ranked #668 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $28.2M and a price of $0.3246 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($28.2M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

The price was up 8.3% over 7 days, up 4.2% over 30 days, down 7.5% over the past year. It trades about 97% below its all-time high of $9.48, set on Mar 7, 2024.

About 86.81M FLIP are in circulation. No hard maximum supply is listed, so new tokens can still be issued.

24-hour trading volume was about $189K, or 0.7% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.

FLIP has token contracts on Ethereum. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

FLIP is linked to Chainflip AMM, which we cover in our DEXes rankings. See our Chainflip AMM page for how the protocol works and how we score it.

FLIP FAQs

What is FLIP used for?

FLIP is primarily a utility token in the project's description. Validators stake it to help secure the network and are paid in FLIP. The project also says protocol fees return value to validators and that swaps lead to buying and burning of FLIP.

Is Chainflip a bridge?

Chainflip describes its system as a way to swap assets between chains without wrapped tokens or traditional bridges. The project's own framing is that users keep custody of their assets during swaps. Readers should still weigh the smart contract and validator risks that come with any on-chain system.

Is there a maximum supply for FLIP?

The data we used did not list a maximum supply for FLIP, and it showed circulating and total supply as equal at about 86.9 million tokens as of 2026-11-05. A search result dated March 2026 refers to an update that ends token emissions and fixes supply. Check the project's documentation for the current rules.

What is the FLIP price?

At the time of writing, as of 2026-11-05, the data showed a price of about 0.32 US dollars. Prices change constantly, so check a current market data source before relying on any figure. This page does not give price forecasts.

Is FLIP a good investment?

This page is not financial advice and does not recommend buying, selling or holding FLIP. Any decision should be based on your own research and your tolerance for losses. Token prices can fall sharply and you may lose the money you put in.

What is the market cap of Chainflip?

As of Nov 6, 2026, Chainflip had a market cap of about $28.2M, ranking #668 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.

What is the all-time high of FLIP?

Chainflip's all-time high is $9.48, reached on Mar 7, 2024. Its all-time low is $0.1909 (Apr 3, 2026). Past prices say nothing about future returns.

What is the circulating supply of FLIP?

As of Nov 6, 2026, about 86.81M FLIP were in circulation; no fixed maximum supply is listed.

Which blockchains is FLIP on?

It has token contracts on Ethereum.
