What Brazilian Digital (BRZ) is

Brazilian Digital (BRZ) is a stablecoin designed to track the Brazilian real (BRL). One BRZ is meant to be worth one real, so its dollar price follows the BRL/USD exchange rate rather than staying near $1. As of 2026-11-05 it trades at about $0.18, which is roughly what one real is worth in dollars.

The project describes BRZ as the first stablecoin backed by Brazilian reais. It is a fiat-backed token, which means the issuer says each token in circulation is matched by reais held in reserve. That backing is a claim by the issuer, not something the blockchain enforces on its own.

BRZ is not a DeFi governance token or a speculative asset in the usual sense. Its purpose is to put a representation of the real onto public blockchains, where it can be sent, swapped, or used in smart contracts like any other token. Data aggregators list it under both stablecoins and DeFi, because it appears as a trading asset in several on-chain markets.

What the token is used for

The project's own description focuses on three uses. First, it lets Brazilian residents move money into international exchanges and trade the real against other assets, including Bitcoin, other stablecoins, and utility or security tokens. Second, it gives people a way to hold a real-denominated balance on a blockchain, which can serve as a hedge or a settlement asset for anyone who needs reais exposure. Third, it can be moved across borders without the usual banking delays.

In practice, BRZ is mostly useful for:

  • Trading BRL pairs on crypto exchanges
  • Holding a real-denominated balance in a wallet
  • Providing real-side liquidity in DeFi pools on supported chains
  • Moving value between Brazil and other markets

The issuer states that holders can buy BRZ at a rate of one real per token and redeem it in Brazil at a 1% discount. Redemption is handled through the issuer and is subject to its onboarding rules, so the experience for a user outside Brazil may differ. BRZ carries no staking reward or governance rights available here.

Supply and tokenomics

BRZ's supply is about 267.5 million tokens as of 2026-11-05, and the circulating and total figures are the same. No maximum supply is listed. That is normal for a fiat-backed stablecoin: the supply is meant to expand when the issuer mints new tokens against deposits and shrink when tokens are redeemed and burned.

There is no inflation schedule, halving, or fixed emission. The amount in circulation depends on demand and on the issuer's mint and burn activity.

At the time of writing, the market capitalization is about $48.6 million, which puts BRZ around rank 455 by size. Fully diluted value is the same figure, since all tokens are already in circulation. Reported 24-hour trading volume is small, about $276,600, which suggests modest liquidity compared with the largest dollar stablecoins.

Over the past week the dollar price moved by about -2.5%, and over the past year by about -1.2%. Because BRZ tracks the real, those moves mainly reflect changes in the BRL/USD exchange rate and not a loss of the peg.

Chains and how it is held and traded

BRZ is issued on several blockchains: Ethereum, Avalanche, BNB Chain, Algorand, Stellar, Polygon, and Solana. Data providers also tag it with the Rootstock ecosystem. It is not the native token of any chain, so you need the chain's own coin to pay network fees when you move it.

The versions on different chains are separate token contracts. The project offers a BRZ token bridge that lets holders send tokens from one blockchain to another, and it is worth using only the official tools and checking contract addresses carefully. Sending BRZ to an address on the wrong network can mean permanent loss.

You can hold BRZ in any wallet that supports the chain you are using. Trading generally happens in two places: centralized exchanges that list BRZ pairs, and decentralized exchanges and liquidity pools on the chains above. Liquidity varies a lot by venue and chain, so spreads can be wider than for major stablecoins. Always confirm which network a listing or a deposit address uses before sending.

History and notable events

BRZ was announced in 2019 as a stablecoin paired with the Brazilian real, with the aim of giving crypto traders access to a wide range of tokens priced against the currency. The original token was built on Ethereum as an ERC-20, and support for more chains was added over time, including Stellar, Algorand, Solana, and others.

The issuer behind the project is a Brazilian-linked company, and the token has since been available through exchanges in several regions. the public information available here do not give an exact launch date, so none is stated.

Price data shows an all-time high of $9.99 on 2023-10-29 and an all-time low of about $0.002 on 2026-03-06. Those figures should be read with caution. A token pegged to one real would not be expected to trade anywhere near them, and such extremes in stablecoin data often come from thin order books, a single venue, or feed errors, not from the broader market. For BRZ, the current price near $0.18 is consistent with the real's exchange rate.

Risks

The main risk is issuer and reserve risk. BRZ's value depends on the issuer actually holding reais or equivalents and honoring redemptions. The blockchain cannot prove that on its own, so you are trusting the issuer's reserves, banking relationships, and legal setup.

Second is currency risk. If you think in dollars, euros, or another currency, BRZ moves with the real. The BRL can weaken or strengthen against them, and the token will follow.

Third is liquidity risk. Daily volume is small, so large trades may move the price, and exiting a position can be harder than with the largest stablecoins. Liquidity is also spread across seven or more chains.

Other risks include:

  • Bridge and smart contract bugs when moving between chains
  • Regulatory changes in Brazil or elsewhere affecting issuance or redemption
  • Fake tokens that copy the BRZ name on networks with open token creation
  • Depeg events on a specific venue even if the overall peg holds

How to store it safely

Start by choosing a wallet that supports the chain where you will hold BRZ. A self-custody wallet, where you control the recovery phrase, gives you the most control. A hardware wallet adds protection for larger balances. Write the recovery phrase down offline and never type it into a website or share it with anyone.

Before receiving or sending BRZ, confirm the network and the token contract address. Because BRZ exists on many chains, and because imitation tokens are common, copy the address from the issuer's official documentation and not from a search result or a message. Send a small test amount first when moving a larger sum.

Keep a little of the chain's native coin for fees, such as ETH on Ethereum or SOL on Solana. If you leave BRZ on an exchange, you rely on that exchange's security and withdrawal policies, so consider moving what you do not need for trading into your own wallet. Be wary of unsolicited tokens, approval requests, and links promising BRZ rewards.

By the numbers

Brazilian Digital in numbers

Brazilian Digital (BRZ) is ranked #452 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $48.2M and a price of $0.1802 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($48.2M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

The price was down 2.2% over 7 days, down 9.0% over 30 days, down 2.6% over the past year. It trades about 98% below its all-time high of $9.99, set on Oct 29, 2023.

About 267.73M BRZ are in circulation. No hard maximum supply is listed, so new tokens can still be issued.

24-hour trading volume was about $341K, or 0.7% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.

BRZ has token contracts on 8 chains we track, including Ethereum, Avalanche, Tempo, BNB Chain. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

CoinGecko groups BRZ under DeFi tokens, Stablecoins.

BRZ FAQs

Why is BRZ worth about $0.18 instead of $1?

BRZ is meant to equal one Brazilian real, not one US dollar. Its dollar price therefore follows the BRL/USD exchange rate, and at about $0.18 as of 2026-11-05 it is in line with that rate.

Is BRZ backed by real reais?

The issuer states that BRZ is fully backed by Brazilian reais. That is the issuer's claim, so the reliability of the backing depends on its reserves and redemption practices, and it is not guaranteed by the blockchain itself.

Which blockchains support BRZ?

BRZ is issued on Ethereum, Avalanche, BNB Chain, Algorand, Stellar, Polygon, and Solana. Data providers also tag it with the Rootstock ecosystem. Each chain has its own token contract.

Can BRZ be redeemed for reais?

According to the project, holders can buy BRZ at one real per token and redeem it in Brazil with a 1% discount. Redemption goes through the issuer and its onboarding requirements, so it may not be available to everyone in the same way.

Does BRZ's price go up like other cryptocurrencies?

Not directly. BRZ tracks the real, so its dollar price rises and falls with the BRL/USD rate. Day-to-day moves reflect currency changes and not a growth model, and this page does not predict prices.

What is BRZ's total supply?

The data lists no maximum supply. As of 2026-11-05, about 267.5 million BRZ are in circulation, and that number changes as the issuer mints or burns tokens in response to deposits and redemptions.

What is the market cap of Brazilian Digital?

As of Nov 6, 2026, Brazilian Digital had a market cap of about $48.2M, ranking #452 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.

What is the all-time high of BRZ?

Brazilian Digital's all-time high is $9.99, reached on Oct 29, 2023. Its all-time low is $0.001966 (Mar 6, 2026). Past prices say nothing about future returns.

What is the circulating supply of BRZ?

As of Nov 6, 2026, about 267.73M BRZ were in circulation; no fixed maximum supply is listed.

Which blockchains is BRZ on?

It has token contracts on Ethereum, Avalanche, Tempo, BNB Chain, Algorand, Stellar, Polygon, Solana.
