Our verdict on UntitledBank

6.0/10

Untitled Bank suits DeFi users on Soneium who want to lend, borrow or create their own isolated lending markets. Its main strength is the permissionless ERC-4626 Bank design with an aggregation layer. The main caveat is size: about $107,000 in TVL, a short history since January 2025 and market-by-market risk. Treat it as an early-stage protocol and size positions accordingly.

What is UntitledBank?

Untitled Bank is a permissionless and modular lending platform on Soneium. Its tagline is "Where anyone becomes a bank," and the core idea is that any user can create a Bank, an independent lending vault in the ERC-4626 format.

The platform aims to combine modular lending, where markets are separate, with the ease of a single pool through an aggregation layer that unifies liquidity. Users can earn by depositing, borrow against collateral, and use leverage or repay-with-collateral features, according to the project's docs.

It is small. The protocol was listed in January 2025, holds roughly $107,000 in TVL and has no token of its own. Two audits are listed.

How UntitledBank works

Untitled Bank splits lending into Banks. Each Bank is an independent lending vault in the ERC-4626 format, which is a standard interface for tokenised vaults. Anyone can create one by calling the createMarket function in the Bank contract and supplying the required parameters.

Depositors supply an asset and earn interest paid by borrowers. Borrowers post collateral, and the Bank contract values that collateral using a price provider, also called an oracle. Custom price providers are allowed, so each market can choose its own source.

A layered system sits on top and aggregates liquidity across modular Banks. The aim is to give users the simplicity of one large pool while keeping the isolation of separate markets.

6 features

Key features

01

Permissionless Bank creation

Anyone can create a Bank, an independent lending vault in the ERC-4626 format, without needing approval.

02

Custom market setup

Markets are created through a createMarket function in the Bank contract, with parameters set by the creator.

03

Layered aggregation

The architecture uses a layered bank system that aggregates liquidity across modular Banks, aiming to make modular lending feel as simple as monolithic lending.

04

Pluggable oracles

The Bank contract can use custom price providers to value collateral tokens, which allows markets for a wide range of assets.

05

Earn by depositing

Users choose an asset to deposit and earn interest from borrowers.

06

Borrow, leverage and repay

Public reporting describes borrowing plus leverage and repay-with-collateral options alongside standard lending.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Anyone can create a lending market, which allows niche assets to be listed.
  • Banks are ERC-4626 vaults, a widely supported standard.
  • Custom price providers give flexibility for collateral valuation.
  • Layered aggregation aims to avoid fragmented liquidity.
  • Two audits are listed for the protocol.
  • Documentation is available covering markets and oracles.

Watch out for

  • TVL is small, at about $107,000, so liquidity may be thin and large positions could be hard to move.
  • TVL fell 5.3% over the past seven days, and the listing dates only from January 2025, so the track record is short.
  • It runs on a single chain, Soneium, which concentrates network and bridge risk.
  • Permissionless market creation means individual markets can use poor collateral or weak price feeds, and users must judge each market themselves.
  • Fees, interest rate models and audit reports are not detailed in its homepage, so users must check the docs and app.
  • No native token is listed, so governance and incentive plans are unclear.

UntitledBank fees

Its homepage does not publish a fee schedule. Interest rates in lending markets are set by the market's own parameters and borrower demand, and users also pay Soneium network gas for transactions.

Any protocol fee or market-creator fee should be visible in the docs and in the app before you confirm a deposit or loan.

Is UntitledBank safe?

Two audits are listed for the protocol, but its homepage does not name the auditors or publish the reports. Users should read audit scope and findings in the docs before depositing.

Lending carries smart-contract risk, oracle risk and liquidation risk. Because markets are permissionless and can use custom price providers, the quality of each market's collateral and oracle varies. The protocol is young and holds little TVL, so it has had little time to prove itself under stress. Licensing and regulatory status are not published. Never deposit more than you can afford to lose.

6 steps

How to get started with UntitledBank

  1. 1

Read the docs to understand how Banks, markets and price providers work.

  2. 2

Set up a wallet that supports Soneium and fund it with a small amount of ETH for gas.

  3. 3

Open the app from the official site and connect your wallet.

  4. 4

Pick an asset to deposit and check the market's collateral, oracle and rates.

  5. 5

Start with a small deposit, then review borrowing or leverage options only after you understand liquidation risk.

  6. 6

Monitor your positions and withdraw when you wish.

Who UntitledBank is for

Untitled Bank fits experienced DeFi users on Soneium who are comfortable judging collateral and oracle risk, and builders who want to launch a custom lending market. It is less suited to beginners or anyone who needs deep liquidity and a long track record.

UntitledBank FAQs

What is Untitled Bank?

Untitled Bank is a permissionless and modular lending platform. Users deposit assets to earn interest or borrow against collateral, and anyone can create a Bank, which is an independent lending vault built as an ERC-4626 vault.

Which blockchain does Untitled Bank run on?

The project is listed on Soneium only. Its homepage does not mention deployments on other chains.

Does Untitled Bank have a token?

No. The project lists no token of its own. Third-party write-ups mention an airdrop campaign, but the project's homepage does not give terms, so treat any airdrop claims with caution and verify them in official channels.

Is Untitled Bank safe?

Risk depends on the smart contracts, the oracles and the specific market. The project lists two audits, but TVL is small and the protocol is young. Since anyone can create a market, check the collateral and price provider before depositing.

How do I create a market?

The docs describe a Bank contract with a createMarket function that takes specific parameters. Creators can use custom price providers for collateral tokens. Read the docs for the exact requirements before creating a market.
