Our verdict on Tropykus RSK
3.0/10Tropykus RSK is no longer a product to start using. It was a Bitcoin-focused lending protocol on Rootstock for Latin America, and its interface and support have both ended. The main strength was that user funds stay in smart contracts and can be withdrawn without the website. The main caveat is that anyone still holding a position must act through the contracts themselves, with no official support. This review suits existing users planning an exit and readers studying how Bitcoin-linked lending ended on Rootstock.

What is Tropykus RSK?
Tropykus RSK was a decentralised lending and borrowing protocol built for Bitcoin holders, with a stated focus on Latin America. It ran on Rootstock and has been listed since February 2022.
The protocol has now shut down. According to its own notice, the interface closed on 27 July 2026 and technical support ended on 31 August 2026, ending a gradual three-month wind-down that began in April 2026. Deposits and new loans have stopped.
On-chain value remains small, at roughly $107,000 locked. The project says user funds are still in the contracts and can be withdrawn directly, and it left the market contract addresses on its closing page for that purpose.
How Tropykus RSK works
Tropykus was a money market. Lenders deposited assets into a pool and earned interest. Borrowers locked collateral in the same system and took loans against it, paying interest that funded lender returns. Rates follow the balance of supply and demand in each market.
The protocol ran on Rootstock and offered markets for RBTC, DOC, BPRO and USDRIF. Positions are held by smart contracts, not by a company, which is why the project says funds stay safe and withdrawable even though the web interface is gone.
Since the interface closed, users must call the contracts themselves. That means repaying any loan, releasing collateral and withdrawing deposits through a wallet or block explorer, following the project's guides.
6 features
Key features
01
Bitcoin-centred lending markets
Users could lend assets to earn interest or borrow against collateral, with markets for RBTC, DOC, BPRO and USDRIF.
02
Rootstock deployment
Built on Rootstock, a Bitcoin-linked smart-contract network, so lending centred on Bitcoin exposure rather than Ethereum assets.
03
Latin America focus
The project positioned itself for Latin America and said it was open to people in any country in the region.
04
Collateralised loans without credit checks
Early promotion described flexible loans without credit history, secured by crypto collateral instead.
05
Direct contract access
Markets can be accessed straight from a wallet or block explorer. This is what lets users exit after the interface closed.
06
Contract-level alerts
After a 2023 incident, the project said it added a smart-contract alert system for risky activity.
Pros and cons
What we like
- Funds stay under user control in the contracts, and the project published withdrawal and repayment guides
- The shutdown was gradual over about three months, giving users time to exit
- Markets covered RBTC plus DOC, BPRO and USDRIF, a Bitcoin-centred set
- Two audits are listed for the protocol
- The project ran for more than four years before closing
Watch out for
- The web interface closed on 27 July 2026, so new deposits and loans are no longer possible
- Technical support ended on 31 August 2026
- Withdrawing now means calling smart contracts directly, which is harder than using an app
- The protocol was hit by a hack in 2023, according to a news snippet from that period
- Total value locked is only about $107,000, so little activity remains
- No token, and no published licence or team details
Tropykus RSK fees
Public sources do not publish a fee schedule. Borrow and supply rates on lending protocols like this normally move with market utilisation. The closing page does not state any current rates.
Anyone withdrawing now pays network gas on Rootstock for each contract call. The project does not list a withdrawal fee on its closing page.
Is Tropykus RSK safe?
The protocol is closed, so the main task now is exiting safely. Check the contract addresses against the project's official closing page and a block explorer before signing anything, and watch for impersonation sites, which often appear around shutdowns. Never share seed phrases.
Two audits are listed for the protocol, but audits do not remove smart-contract risk. A news snippet from July 2023 refers to a hack of the protocol and to new alert measures afterwards. Details of that incident are not. Support ended on 31 August 2026, so there is no official help desk for stuck positions.
The project does not publish licensing or regulatory details.

Tropykus RSK FAQs
Is Tropykus still active?
No. The project says the interface closed on 27 July 2026 and technical support ended on 31 August 2026. Deposits and new loans have ceased, and the protocol is in a wind-down state.
Can I still withdraw my funds from Tropykus?
The project says funds remain in the user's control inside the market contracts. Users can withdraw deposits, repay loans and release collateral by interacting with those contracts from any wallet or block explorer. Tropykus published step-by-step guides for this.
Which markets did Tropykus support?
The closing notice lists four markets: RBTC, DOC, BPRO and USDRIF. Use the contract addresses from the project's official closing page and double-check them before sending any transaction.
Why did Tropykus close?
The project describes a three-month gradual shutdown that began in April 2026, following an announcement dated 22 April. The interface closed on 27 July and support ended on 31 August 2026. The announcements do not give a reason.
Does Tropykus have a token?
No. The listing shows no native token for the protocol. It worked with RBTC and the DOC, BPRO and USDRIF assets.
Was Tropykus ever hacked?
A news snippet from July 2023 refers to a hack of the protocol and to new safeguards, including an alert system built into the smart contracts for risky activity. Details of the incident are not covered.
