Our verdict on Nado Spot
6.8/10Nado suits experienced traders who want an order-book DEX with spot and perps on one cross-margin account, and who are comfortable with a newer venue on Ink. Its main strengths are the fast matching engine, the unified margin and about $54.7 million in TVL. The main caveats are that no audits are listed, the off-chain sequencer needs trust, and fees are not published publicly. Start small and read the fee details first.

What is Nado Spot?
Nado is a decentralized exchange for spot and perpetual futures on Ink, the layer-2 network. DefiLlama describes it as vertically integrated, with an off-chain sequencer, on-chain settlement and a central limit order book. The homepage says it combines centralized-exchange speed with self-custody and claims it was built by the team behind Kraken. We could not verify that claim from public sources.
DefiLlama shows about $54.7 million in TVL, up 7.8% over seven days, and lists it since December 2025. No token and no audits are listed. Public reporting mentions a points program, an NFT airdrop for top users, and a Season 2 update in May 2026 that removes the invite-only system.
A post on X also refers to an upgrade and migration of the perpetual markets, with trading staying live during maintenance. The platform is active, but it is new and still changing.
How Nado Spot works
Nado is an order-book exchange. Buyers and sellers post orders at chosen prices, and the engine matches them. This differs from an AMM, where trades run against a pool of tokens at a formula-set price.
Per DefiLlama, Nado uses an off-chain sequencer for ordering and matching, with settlement on-chain on Ink. This is how it reaches the low latency (5-15ms) quoted on the homepage. The trade-off is that the sequencer is a component users must trust to operate fairly and stay online.
Spot and perpetual futures share a cross-margin account, so collateral can support multiple positions. Perpetuals have no expiry date and use a funding rate to keep their price near the index price. Depth is supported partly by the NLP vault, a pool of liquidity that backs the market.
7 features
Key features
01
Central limit order book
Trades are matched on a central limit order book rather than against an AMM pool. The homepage cites 5-15ms latency.
02
Spot and perps together
Spot and perpetual futures are traded on one platform. Layer3 also lists money markets under the same margin system.
03
Unified cross-margin
The homepage describes a unified cross-margin system, so one account balance can back several positions.
04
Off-chain sequencer, on-chain settlement
An off-chain sequencer matches orders quickly, while settlement happens on-chain on Ink.
05
NLP liquidity vault
Liquidity is supported in part by the NLP (Nado Liquidity Provider) vault, which adds depth to the order book.
06
Self-custody of funds
The homepage says users keep self-custody of funds, in contrast with a centralized exchange.
07
Points and rewards campaigns
Public reporting points to a points program, referral links and an NFT collection that boosts Ink Points.
Pros and cons
What we like
- Order-book design with a stated 5-15ms matching latency, aimed at a centralized-exchange feel.
- Spot and perpetuals share one cross-margin account.
- Self-custody of funds, according to the homepage.
- About $54.7 million TVL on DefiLlama, with a 7.8% seven-day increase.
- Open registration since May 21, 2026, after the invite-only system was removed.
- Active development, with a Season 2 rollout and market upgrades.
Watch out for
- No audits are listed on DefiLlama, and the project does not point to any published audit report.
- The off-chain sequencer is a centralized component, so users rely on the operator for ordering and matching trades.
- Trading fees, funding mechanics and withdrawal terms are not, so costs are unclear before you sign up.
- The perpetual markets were being migrated and upgraded in May 2026, which suggests the product is still changing.
- The platform is young (listed on DefiLlama since December 2025), so its track record is short.
- Perpetual futures with leverage can lose money quickly, and the funding rate shown on the app was +7.39% at the time of the search snippet.
Nado Spot fees
Nado's trading fees, maker and taker rates, and withdrawal costs are not published publicly available for this review. DefiLlama also lists no token, so there is no fee-sharing token to evaluate.
On perpetual markets, traders usually also pay or receive a funding rate. The app showed a funding figure of +7.39% in a search snippet, but how it is calculated and charged is not explained there. Check the fee and funding details inside the trading app before opening a position.
Is Nado Spot safe?
DefiLlama lists zero audits for Nado, and none are mentioned in the other facts. That does not prove the contracts are unsafe, but there is no public audit evidence here. Check the project's documentation for audit reports before depositing large amounts.
The design carries trade-offs. Settlement is on-chain and funds are described as self-custodied, but the sequencer runs off-chain, so you rely on the operator for matching and uptime. Perpetuals add liquidation risk, and the platform is on a young layer-2. No incidents or hacks appear, and the regulatory status is not stated.
6 steps
How to get started with Nado Spot
- 1
Confirm that trading derivatives is permitted where you live, and that you understand leverage risk.
- 2
Get a wallet that works with Ink and fund it with the assets you plan to trade.
- 3
Open the Nado app and register. Per a May 2026 report, the invite-only system was removed from May 21, so direct sign-up should be possible.
- 4
Read the fee, funding and margin information in the app before depositing.
- 5
Deposit a small amount first, then place a small spot trade to see how the order book works.
- 6
If you try perpetuals, keep leverage low and watch your margin and liquidation levels.
Who Nado Spot is for
Nado is for active crypto traders who already know order books, perpetual futures and leverage, and want to trade them on-chain with self-custody. It is also relevant to users following Ink ecosystem points campaigns. Beginners and anyone who needs audited, long-established infrastructure should be careful.
