Kona Stableswap Review 2026: A DeFi Suite on Abstract Chain

Kona Stableswap is the DEX layer of Kona, a DeFi suite on the Abstract L2 built on KittyPunch's PunchSwap and StableKitty. It is small and experimental, so size positions with that in mind.

By the DappsAtlas editorial team · Updated

Our verdict on Kona Stableswap

5.5/10

Kona Stableswap suits experienced DeFi users already on Abstract who want a small, experimental DEX paired with lending and a points-driven token model. Its strength is the integrated stack and the fee-sharing sPEARL design built on established KittyPunch code. The main caveat is size and transparency: liquidity on the DEX is thin, the audit claim is not backed by linked reports, and fees and team details are not published. Newcomers and large traders should look at deeper venues first.

What is Kona Stableswap?

Kona Stableswap is the swap infrastructure inside Kona, a DeFi ecosystem on the Abstract layer-2. On-chain trackers say it is built on top of KittyPunch's PunchSwap and StableKitty protocols, and the homepage lists Kona as part of the KittyPunch family.

Besides swapping, Kona offers Kona Lend for deposits and borrowing, and a points program that feeds into its two-token model. KONA is described as a fixed-supply core token, and PEARL as a reward token that earns protocol fees when locked as liquidity.

Scale is modest. The DEX listing on trackers shows roughly $16,000 in TVL and a small weekly decline, and it has been listed since October 2025. The homepage claims $2.5M+ TVL across the whole ecosystem. The project positions itself for experimental DeFi users, and it does not publish a team, a fee schedule or linked audit reports.

How Kona Stableswap works

A decentralized exchange swaps tokens through liquidity pools instead of an order book. Users deposit pairs of tokens into pools and earn a share of trading fees. A router picks the best pool path for each trade. Stableswap-style pools are tuned for assets that should trade near the same price, which keeps slippage low on stablecoin swaps.

Kona's DEX infrastructure is built on KittyPunch's PunchSwap and StableKitty. Kona adds a lending market and a points layer. Using the protocols earns points. Spending points to mint PEARL requires burning 1 KONA each time, so more activity means more KONA burned.

PEARL is the reward token. When locked as PEARL-WETH liquidity and held as sPEARL, it earns protocol fees from the swap and lending products, according to the project. Whether those fee flows are meaningful depends on trading volume, which is not published on the homepage.

6 features

Key features

01

Multi-pool DEX routing

A multi-pool-type DEX with routing across pools. The project describes fees as low but does not publish figures on the homepage.

02

Stableswap pools

Stable-asset pools come from StableKitty, part of the KittyPunch family, which the DEX infrastructure builds on.

03

Lending and borrowing

Kona Lend lets users earn interest on deposits and borrow against assets, with PENGU among the supported assets.

04

Kona Points system

Activity across the protocols earns points, which can be spent to mint PEARL, with each mint burning 1 KONA.

05

sPEARL fee sharing

PEARL earns protocol fees when locked as PEARL-WETH liquidity and held as sPEARL.

06

Fixed-supply KONA token

KONA has a capped supply with no emissions, according to the project, and burns as points are converted.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Combines swapping, lending and a points program in one Abstract-based suite.
  • Built on existing KittyPunch protocols (PunchSwap and StableKitty) rather than entirely new code.
  • Fixed KONA supply with no emissions, and a burn on every PEARL mint.
  • PEARL lockers earn a share of real protocol fees, per the project.
  • Supports PENGU for lending and liquidity, which suits Abstract's community.

Watch out for

  • The DEX listing holds only about $16,000 in TVL on trackers, so liquidity is thin and large trades may move prices.
  • The homepage names an audit by Zentih "and more", but no audit reports are linked, and trackers list no audits.
  • Runs only on Abstract, a young L2, so it carries chain-level and bridge risk.
  • The KONA/PEARL points-and-burn model is unusual and adds complexity and tokenomics risk.
  • Fee levels are described only as low and are not published as numbers.
  • The team behind the protocol is not named on the homepage.

Kona Stableswap fees

Kona describes its swap fees as low, but the homepage does not publish a fee table or specific percentages. Pool-level swap fees should be visible in the app before you confirm a trade.

Beyond swap fees, expect Abstract network gas costs. Part of the protocol fees flows to sPEARL lockers, per the project. Lending rates and borrowing costs are shown in the Kona Lend interface rather than on the marketing page.

Is Kona Stableswap safe?

The homepage says Kona is audited by Zentih "and more", but it does not link reports, and on-chain trackers list no audits. Readers should look for the actual reports before depositing. Funds sit in smart contracts, so exploits, oracle problems and bad debt in the lending market are real risks, as is Abstract's own bridge and sequencer risk.

Liquidity is small, so slippage and withdrawal friction can be higher than on large DEXs. The points, burn and locking design adds extra moving parts. No incident history is published. Keep sizes small, and only use funds you can afford to lose.

6 steps

How to get started with Kona Stableswap

  1. 1

Check that the official site is the real Kona address before connecting a wallet, since similar names exist outside crypto.

  2. 2

Set up an Abstract-compatible wallet and fund it with a small amount of ETH for gas.

  3. 3

Open the app and review the available pools, their fees and liquidity depth.

  4. 4

Start with a small swap to see the quoted price, slippage and gas cost.

  5. 5

If you want to provide liquidity, read the pool's fee and risk details first, and consider stable pairs to limit price swings.

  6. 6

Look into the Kona Points, PEARL and sPEARL mechanics before locking any tokens.

Who Kona Stableswap is for

Kona is for DeFi users already active on Abstract who are comfortable with experimental protocols, points programs and small pools. PENGU holders who want to lend or provide liquidity without selling may find it relevant. It is a poor fit for anyone needing deep liquidity, long track records or fully documented audits.

Kona Stableswap FAQs

What is Kona Stableswap?

Kona Stableswap is the swap and stable-pool side of Kona, a DeFi ecosystem on Abstract. Trackers describe its DEX infrastructure as built on KittyPunch's PunchSwap and StableKitty protocols. Kona describes itself as a place to trade, earn yield and try experimental DeFi.

Which blockchain does Kona use?

It runs on Abstract, an Ethereum layer-2. The homepage says the core ecosystem (Kona Swap, Kona Lend and the points system) is deployed there. The wider KittyPunch family also operates on Flow, but Kona itself is described as Abstract-based.

How do KONA and PEARL work?

Users earn Kona Points from using the protocols. Converting points into PEARL requires burning 1 KONA per transaction. Locking PEARL-WETH LP tokens as sPEARL earns a share of protocol fees from Kona Lend and Kona Swap, according to the project.

Is Kona audited?

The homepage says audited by Zentih "and more", but it does not link reports, and trackers list no audits. Treat the audit claim as unverified until you have read the reports yourself. Any DeFi protocol can still fail despite audits.

How big is Kona?

The DEX listing on trackers shows about $16,000 in TVL, while the homepage cites $2.5M+ TVL across the ecosystem. The gap likely reflects different scopes: one covers the DEX, the other the whole suite. Neither figure is independently confirmed here.

Can I use PENGU on Kona?

The homepage says Kona Lend supports PENGU. You can supply it to earn interest and points, or use it as collateral to borrow stablecoins and WETH. On the swap side you can provide PENGU-WETH or PENGU-USDC liquidity.
