Our verdict on Honeyswap

6.0/10

Honeyswap suits users already on Gnosis Chain who want a simple, low-cost Uniswap V2-style swap venue with ties to the 1Hive community and the HNY token. Its main strength is a familiar design backed by a wider DAO ecosystem. The main caveat is small liquidity of roughly $712K TVL and no listed audits, so keep trade sizes modest and understand the risks first.

What is Honeyswap?

Honeyswap is a decentralized exchange built for Gnosis Chain, previously called the xDai Chain. It is a fork of Uniswap V2 adapted for that chain and the 1Hive ecosystem. Users can swap tokens and add liquidity.

DefiLlama lists it under DEXs on Gnosis and Polygon, with about $712K in total value locked and a 7-day change of +0.8%. That is a small amount of liquidity compared with major DEXs.

The site is part of a broader 1Hive suite: Honeycomb for yield farming and staking, Honeypot for DAO proposals, Celeste as a subjective oracle and Gardens as a DAO launchpad. HNY is its token. The page credits Buzz DAO.

How Honeyswap works

Honeyswap uses an automated market maker, the model popularized by Uniswap V2. Instead of an order book, users trade against pools of two tokens. Prices move according to the ratio of tokens in the pool.

Liquidity providers deposit both tokens of a pair and receive LP tokens representing their share. They earn a portion of trading fees, and can stake those LP tokens on Honeycomb for additional rewards. The risk is impermanent loss when prices diverge.

Honeyswap sits inside the wider 1Hive ecosystem, which includes DAO tools and the HNY token for governance.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Simple Uniswap V2-style swaps and liquidity pools that are easy to understand
  • Low transaction costs on Gnosis Chain, according to the project
  • Part of a community ecosystem with DAO tools, farming and governance
  • Documentation, wiki, GitHub and a bug bounty link are available
  • Own token list and analytics page for transparency
  • Card on-ramp starts at 0% pricing according to the homepage

Watch out for

  • TVL is small at about $712K, so liquidity for larger trades may be thin
  • DefiLlama lists no audits for the protocol
  • Code is a Uniswap V2 fork, so it lacks newer features such as concentrated liquidity
  • Fiat on-ramp is a third-party service whose terms sit outside the DEX itself
  • Homepage describes the Gnosis chain, and the Polygon deployment is not explained
  • Governance and development depend on a community DAO, with no named company or team

Honeyswap fees

Swap and liquidity fees are not stated publicly. Users should see the fee shown in the app before confirming a trade. Gnosis Chain transaction costs are described as incredibly low.

For the fiat on-ramp, the homepage says pricing starts at 0%. It says nothing is charged below $500 per year, and a small percentage is added on top of the exchange rate above that. Exact rates are not published on the homepage.

Is Honeyswap safe?

DefiLlama lists no audits for Honeyswap. The homepage links a bug bounty, GitHub and documentation, but the project does not name any security reviews or past incidents. Treat it as unaudited.

The DEX is non-custodial, so users keep their tokens in their own wallet, but they take on smart-contract risk, bridge risk and impermanent loss when providing liquidity. Small pools can also mean higher slippage. The fiat on-ramp is described as a Swiss-based authorized financial intermediary and KYC-less, which is the homepage's claim and not independently verified here.

Who Honeyswap is for
