Our verdict on Decentralized Euro
6.5/10Decentralized Euro suits users who want a euro stablecoin that is minted on-chain against crypto collateral, and who are comfortable with DeFi risk. Its main strength is the clear structure of lending, savings and protocol shares, together with a non-custodial, oracle-free design. The main caveat is size and sustainability: the protocol is young and holds about 1.1 million USD, and the 10% yield depends on borrowers paying interest. Treat the yield as variable, check the audits, and size positions accordingly.

What is Decentralized Euro?
Decentralized Euro, or dEURO, is a stablecoin pegged 1:1 to the euro and backed by crypto collateral. It runs on Ethereum, with bridged versions on Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism and Base. The project describes it as fully decentralized and oracle-free.
The protocol has three core functions: Lending, where users borrow newly minted dEURO against collateral, Savings, where dEURO deposits earn a yield, and Protocol Shares, where holders of nDEPS or DEPS share in fee income and liquidation gains. The homepage advertises a 10% annual yield on savings.
It was listed in April 2025 and is still small, with roughly 1.1 million USD in total value locked. Two audits are listed. The homepage cites coverage in German and international media and an integration with a privacy-focused mobile wallet. The team behind the project is not named on the homepage.
How Decentralized Euro works
dEURO is created when users lock supported crypto collateral, such as BTC or ETH, in smart contracts and mint new dEURO against it. The collateral value must exceed the dEURO issued. If the collateral falls too far, automated liquidation sells it to cover the debt.
Borrowers pay stability fees or interest for access to dEURO. That income funds the Savings module, where depositors earn the advertised yield. Protocol shareholders, who hold nDEPS or DEPS, share in fee income and liquidation gains.
The project says the system works without price oracles and that no central party controls the peg. The peg rests on overcollateralization, liquidations and on-chain visibility. Users can also move dEURO to Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism or Base through bridges.
7 features
Key features
01
Collateralized lending
Users deposit collateral of their choice and borrow newly minted dEURO. The homepage describes the terms as attractive but gives no figures.
02
Savings module
Depositing dEURO into the Savings module earns a yield. The homepage advertises 10% APR, funded by borrower interest.
03
Protocol shares
Buying nDEPS or DEPS gives a share of fee income and liquidation gains. nDEPS holders can also take part in governance.
04
Oracle-free design
The protocol says its smart contracts do not rely on price oracles, which removes one common point of failure for stablecoins.
05
Multi-chain token
dEURO is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum with bridged versions on Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism and Base. More chains are planned.
06
Apps and fiat access
The project offers a mobile wallet and a web app. The homepage also points to a deposit-from-bank option and on-chain swaps for other euro stablecoins.
07
On-chain transparency
Collateral, debt positions and liquidations are visible on-chain, so anyone can check the system's health.
Pros and cons
What we like
- Euro-denominated stablecoin, which suits users who want euro exposure without a centralized issuer.
- Overcollateralized design with automated liquidations and on-chain visibility of positions.
- Three clear modules for borrowing, saving and holding protocol shares.
- Available on Ethereum plus Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism and Base.
- The protocol reports two audits.
Watch out for
- Total value locked is only about 1.1 million USD, so the protocol is small and liquidity may be thin.
- The advertised 10% yield is funded by borrowers' interest, so it can change or fall when borrowing demand drops.
- Euro peg stability depends on volatile collateral such as BTC or ETH and on liquidations working in fast markets.
- Borrowing fees, stability rates and collateral ratios are not stated on the homepage, so users must check the app for exact terms.
- Several chains (Gnosis, BNB Chain, Solana) are listed as coming soon, and bridging adds extra smart-contract risk.
- The protocol has no track record before its 2025 listing, and the audit reports are not detailed on the homepage.
Decentralized Euro fees
The homepage does not publish a fee schedule. Borrowers pay stability fees or interest when they mint dEURO, and that interest funds the savings yield. The rates and collateral requirements are shown inside the lending interface, not on the marketing page.
Users also pay normal network gas on Ethereum or whichever chain they use, plus any bridge or swap costs. nDEPS and DEPS holders receive protocol fee income, which shows that the protocol itself takes a share of fees.
Is Decentralized Euro safe?
The protocol lists two audits, but the homepage does not name the auditors or summarize their findings, so read the full reports before depositing. Risks include smart-contract bugs, collateral price drops, liquidation failures in volatile markets and bridge risk on non-Ethereum chains. The project says it has no central custodian or oracle, which removes some single points of failure but does not remove code risk.
The homepage does not state a legal entity or regulatory status. Users are responsible for understanding the tax and legal rules for stablecoins and yield where they live. The protocol is small by value locked, so a single large position or exit can have an outsized effect. No incident or hack is described.
6 steps
How to get started with Decentralized Euro
- 1
Decide whether you want to borrow, save or buy protocol shares, and read the three module descriptions on the official site.
- 2
Set up an Ethereum-compatible wallet, or use the project's mobile wallet, and fund it with ETH for gas.
- 3
Get dEURO by swapping other stablecoins on-chain, using the bank deposit option, or minting it against collateral in the Lending module.
- 4
To earn yield, deposit dEURO into the Savings module and check the current APR shown in the app.
- 5
If you borrow, check the collateral ratio and liquidation conditions before you mint, and keep a safety margin.
- 6
Verify token contract addresses on the official site before swapping, and start with a small amount.
Who Decentralized Euro is for
dEURO is for DeFi users who want euro-denominated stablecoin exposure, borrowers who hold BTC or ETH and want euros without selling, and savers who accept smart-contract risk in exchange for yield. Investors who want a share of protocol fees may also look at nDEPS or DEPS. It is less suited to anyone who needs deep liquidity or a regulated, insured product.
Decentralized Euro FAQs
What is Decentralized Euro (dEURO)?
dEURO is a collateral-backed stablecoin pegged 1:1 to the euro. Users mint it by locking crypto collateral in smart contracts, and no central entity issues it. The project describes it as oracle-free and fully decentralized.
How is the 10% dEURO yield generated?
The project says the 10% APR on savings comes from stability fees and interest paid by borrowers who mint dEURO against collateral. It is not guaranteed and depends on borrowing activity. The homepage also ties the figure to the savings module in a partner wallet, so check the current rate in the app.
How does dEURO keep its euro peg?
The project says each dEURO is backed by crypto assets worth more than the dEURO in circulation. If collateral values fall too far, smart contracts liquidate collateral to cover the debt. All positions and liquidations can be viewed on-chain.
Which blockchains does dEURO run on?
The homepage lists dEURO on Ethereum, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism and Base. Gnosis, BNB Chain and Solana are marked as coming soon. Ethereum is the main chain and the other networks use bridged versions of the token.
What are nDEPS and DEPS?
nDEPS is the protocol's shareholder token on Ethereum. Holders benefit from fee income and liquidation gains and can take part in governance. DEPS is a wrapped version of nDEPS that has no veto rights.
Is dEURO safe?
No stablecoin is risk-free. dEURO is overcollateralized and on-chain, but it still carries smart-contract risk, collateral price risk and bridge risk. The protocol is also small by value locked. Only use funds you can afford to lose and read the audit reports first.
