IOTA

IOTA EVM is an Ethereum-compatible smart contract environment tied to the IOTA network. It lets developers deploy Solidity contracts and use familiar wallets and tooling. This differs from the main IOTA chain, which is a Move-based Layer 1 with an object-centric data model and delegated proof-of-stake validators. Coverage of the EVM mainnet dates its launch to mid-2024, with the aim of letting Ethereum-style apps connect to IOTA's wider network.

The native token is IOTA, which pays transaction fees on the network. You hold it in an EVM-compatible wallet, and you will usually need a small balance before you can swap, lend or bridge anything. DeFi TVL was about $306,270 at the time of writing, so this is a small ecosystem and liquidity can be thin.

The dApps here are mostly DeFi. Deepr Finance offers lending and borrowing, with staking and a bridge. MagicSea LB and MagicSea AMM are decentralized exchanges built around Liquidity Book, which uses bin-based concentrated liquidity. MagicSea AMM also runs an NFT marketplace. Multi-chain names such as WAGMI (a DEX), Gamma (liquidity management) and SYMMIO (derivatives) also appear in our list of 8 dApps.

IOTA EVM FAQs

What is IOTA EVM?

IOTA EVM is an Ethereum-compatible smart contract environment connected to the IOTA network. Developers can deploy Solidity contracts and use familiar Ethereum wallets and tools. Search coverage dates its mainnet launch to mid-2024.

Which token do I need to use IOTA EVM dApps?

The native token is IOTA, and it is used to pay transaction fees on the network. Because it is a separate network from Ethereum, you need IOTA in a compatible wallet rather than ETH. Check the current fee level in your wallet before you transact.

How is IOTA EVM different from the main IOTA network?

IOTA EVM runs Ethereum-style smart contracts, while the main IOTA chain is a Move-based Layer 1 with an object-centric data model and delegated proof-of-stake validators. They are related but are different environments, and the tooling differs. Our list also includes the IOTA entry, which spans both.

Which dApps are available on IOTA EVM?

Our directory lists 8 dApps for IOTA EVM. Native options include Deepr Finance for lending, plus MagicSea LB and MagicSea AMM for trading. Multi-chain protocols such as Gamma, SYMMIO and WAGMI are also listed.

How much value is locked on IOTA EVM?

DeFi TVL on IOTA EVM was about $306,270 at the time of writing, which is small next to the large Ethereum networks. Smaller liquidity can mean wider price impact on swaps and thinner lending markets. Check pool depth before you trade or deposit.

Are IOTA EVM dApps safe to use?

Smart contract bugs, thin liquidity and bridge risk all apply, and a chain with low TVL can see sharper price moves. Only use funds you can afford to lose, and read each protocol's documentation first. Our scores are a starting point, not a safety guarantee.

What is the largest dApp on IOTA EVM by TVL?

Gamma is the largest dApp on IOTA EVM by total value locked, with $2.73M across all the chains it supports. It is followed by SYMMIO ($1.73M) and WAGMI ($213K). TVL figures come from DefiLlama and change daily.

Which dApp on IOTA EVM has the highest DappsAtlas score?

Gamma has the highest score at 7.0/10, ahead of SYMMIO (6.0) and Deepr Finance (6.0). Scores weigh security, ease of use, fees and features, and are based only on facts we could verify.

How many dApps are on IOTA EVM?

DappsAtlas tracks 8 dApps on IOTA EVM. Of these, 8 have a full review and 7 report value locked, $4.96M in total, counting value on every chain they support.
