What OriginTrail and TRAC are
OriginTrail is a project that aims to build trusted knowledge infrastructure for artificial intelligence. Its core product is the Decentralized Knowledge Graph (DKG), a network where information is published as "Knowledge Assets" that can be traced back to their source and checked for tampering. The idea is that AI systems, companies and individuals can query data whose origin is verifiable, rather than relying on unverified text.
The project began with a supply chain focus, where proving where goods and records came from is a practical problem. It has since broadened its pitch toward AI and real-world assets (RWAs). Its project materials describe a related blockchain called NeuroWeb, which sits in the Polkadot ecosystem, and an experimental question-answering bot called ChatDKG that answers from Knowledge Assets in the graph.
TRAC is the token tied to this network. It is an ERC-20 style token issued on Ethereum and Base, not the native coin of its own layer-1 chain. The project's materials list partnerships and relationships with organizations such as the British Standards Institution, Polkadot, Parity, Oracle and others, but a listed relationship does not tell you how deeply any of them use the technology.
What the TRAC token is used for
According to the project's public documentation, TRAC powers activity on the DKG. Its main roles are paying for services on the network, such as publishing and storing Knowledge Assets, and staking to help secure and operate the network.
Staking works through DKG Core Nodes. Holders can delegate TRAC to nodes they choose, which locks the tokens and adds to that node's stake. In return, delegators earn a share of the rewards the node receives, usually after the node operator takes a cut. Rewards, node terms and lock-up rules can change, so check the current documentation before delegating.
Older descriptions of the token frame it as the medium of exchange between data producers, data consumers and node operators in supply chain data. That is consistent with the newer description: the token coordinates payment and incentives among people who store, publish and use verified data. Holding TRAC does not give an ownership claim on any company, and it is not a guarantee that demand for the network will grow.
Supply and tokenomics
TRAC has a fixed maximum supply of 500,000,000 tokens, and the total supply equals that maximum. As of 2026-11-05, about 447.3 million TRAC were circulating, which is roughly 89 percent of the cap. That leaves about 52.7 million tokens not yet counted as circulating.
The gap shows up in valuation figures. At the time of writing, the market capitalization was about $157.1 million, while the fully diluted valuation was about $175.6 million. The price was about $0.35, and 24-hour trading volume was around $3.7 million. The token ranked near 196 by market cap.
The data available here does not break down how the supply was originally allocated or give a detailed emission schedule, so this page does not describe one. Because most of the maximum supply is already circulating, future dilution from new supply is limited compared with many newer tokens, but the share still unlocked or held by insiders is worth checking in the project's own documents.
Chains and how it is held or traded
TRAC is issued on Ethereum and Base. Ethereum is the original home of the token, which launched in January 2018, and Base adds a lower-cost option for transfers and trading. TRAC is not the native gas coin of either chain, so you pay network fees in ETH on both.
Most people hold TRAC in a self-custody wallet that supports Ethereum and Base, or on a centralized exchange that lists it. It trades on both centralized exchanges and decentralized exchanges. When you deposit or withdraw, confirm which network the address and exchange expect, since sending tokens on the wrong chain can make them hard or impossible to recover.
The project also operates in the Polkadot ecosystem through NeuroWeb, and CoinGecko-style categories place TRAC under Polkadot, Ethereum and Base ecosystems at once. This multi-chain presence reflects how the project connects to several networks rather than living on one.
History and notable events
TRAC launched in early 2018. Its all-time high was about $3.50 on 2021-11-03, during the broader crypto market peak, and its all-time low was about $0.0039 on 2020-03-12. As of 2026-11-05 the price was down roughly 32 percent over one year and about 1.7 percent over seven days, and well below the 2021 peak.
Over the years the project has moved from a supply chain data focus toward AI, with a roadmap phase named Metcalfe that targets a very large graph of 100 billion Knowledge Assets and a 100,000x scalability increase. These are the project's stated goals, not delivered results. Its categories on data sites now include AI, AI agents, RWA, DePIN, DeSci and InfoFi, which shows how the narrative has widened. Our own project page scores it 6.4 out of 10.
Risks to understand
Several risks apply. Price volatility is high: the token fell far from its 2021 high and can move sharply in either direction. Narrative risk is also real, since the AI and RWA labels attract attention that may not translate into usage. Adoption is hard to verify from outside, and partnership lists do not show how much paid activity flows through the network.
Staking carries its own risks. Delegating to a node means trusting that node's operation, and node performance, reward rates and lock-up terms can change. Smart contract bugs, exchange failures and phishing sites that imitate the project are further hazards. Liquidity is moderate, so large orders can move the price.
This page is educational and is not investment advice. Do your own research and only risk money you can afford to lose.
How to store TRAC safely
For tokens you plan to hold for a while, a hardware wallet paired with a standard Ethereum-compatible wallet interface is the usual approach. Write down your recovery phrase on paper or metal, keep it offline, and never type it into a website or share it with anyone, including people claiming to be support staff.
Before sending a large amount, send a small test transaction and confirm the network, Ethereum or Base, matches on both ends. Keep a little ETH for fees. Check contract addresses using the project's official channels rather than search ads or social media replies, since fake tokens with the same name exist across many chains.
If you stake, review which node you delegate to, how rewards are split, and how and when you can withdraw. Revoke token approvals you no longer need, and avoid connecting your main wallet to unfamiliar apps.
By the numbers
OriginTrail in numbers
OriginTrail (TRAC) is ranked #199 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $151M and a price of $0.3382 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $169M, so roughly 89% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.
The price was down 1.9% over 7 days, down 16.5% over 30 days, down 44.0% over the past year. It trades about 90% below its all-time high of $3.50, set on Nov 3, 2021.
About 447.27M TRAC are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 500M (89% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $1.28M, or 0.8% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.
TRAC has token contracts on 2 chains we track, including Ethereum, Base. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
TRAC is linked to Origintrail, which we cover in our AI rankings. See our Origintrail page for how the protocol works and how we score it.
CoinGecko groups TRAC under AI tokens, AI agent tokens, Real-world asset (RWA) tokens, Metaverse tokens, DePIN tokens.
