What USDY is
Ondo US Dollar Yield (USDY) is a tokenized note backed by short-term US Treasuries and bank demand deposits. It is issued by Ondo Finance. Unlike a typical stablecoin that holds its value at about one dollar and pays nothing, USDY is built so that the yield from its underlying assets shows up in its value over time.
USDY is a non-rebasing token. Your balance stays the same, and the redemption value of each token rises as yield accrues. That is why the market price at the time of writing was about $1.15, above one dollar. The price reflects accumulated yield, not a loss of peg.
Public descriptions say the product is offered under Regulation S to qualifying non-US investors, and that transfers are controlled through allowlist and blocklist mechanisms. This puts USDY in the real-world asset (RWA) category rather than among ordinary permissionless stablecoins, even though some marketing calls it a yield-bearing dollar token. Anyone considering it should read the issuer's own documentation on eligibility.
What the token is used for
The main purpose of USDY is to give holders a dollar-denominated asset that earns Treasury-style yield while still being a token that can move on blockchains. Ondo markets it for treasury management, collateral, cross-border payments and everyday savings, and it has been described as suited to DeFi use as collateral or as a yield-generating asset.
Because it is an ERC20-style token on many chains, other protocols can integrate it. Mantle, for example, has published integration guidelines for protocols that support USDY. Integrations usually involve using it as collateral or holding it in treasuries rather than treating it as a day-to-day payment coin.
USDY is not a governance token, and it is not the native coin of any chain. Its value comes from the assets behind it and the issuer's redemption process, not from network fees or voting rights.
Supply and tokenomics
USDY has no fixed maximum supply, since new tokens are created when eligible investors subscribe and removed when they redeem. As of 2026-11-05, circulating supply was about 2.08 billion tokens, and the total was nearly identical. Market capitalization was about $2.39 billion, with a fully diluted value in the same range, putting it around rank 42 by market cap.
The price was about $1.15, down roughly 0.12% over seven days and up roughly 4.2% over one year. The all-time high was about $1.26 on 2024-03-26 and the all-time low about $0.93 on 2024-01-14, according to the data used here. Those figures are snapshots and change constantly.
Trading volume was modest, about $4.3 million over 24 hours at the time of writing, which is small relative to the market cap. Most activity in a token like this happens through issuer minting and redemption rather than open-market trading, so on-exchange liquidity can be thin.
Chains and how it is held and traded
USDY is issued on many networks. The data lists Ethereum, Solana, Arbitrum, BNB Chain, Mantle, Aptos, Sui, Stellar, Sei, Osmosis, Mantra, Plume Mainnet and Tempo. Ondo announced the Stellar launch on 17 September 2025.
Holding it generally means using a wallet that supports the relevant chain. Acquiring newly issued tokens directly from Ondo requires meeting the issuer's eligibility and onboarding rules. Secondary access is possible through decentralized exchanges and some other venues, depending on the chain, but transfer restrictions in the token's design can limit who may receive it.
Because the same asset exists on many chains, check the contract address in the issuer's documentation before interacting. Versions on different networks are not interchangeable without a supported bridge or conversion route.
History and notable events
Public sources provided here do not include a launch date or founding details for USDY, so this page sticks to what is clear from the data. The recorded all-time low of about $0.93 came in January 2024, and the all-time high of about $1.26 followed in March 2024. Both reflect the token's early trading period and the way its price is tied to accruing yield.
The most notable recent event in the search data is the expansion to Stellar in September 2025, which was presented as opening new use cases such as savings and cross-border payments. The list of supported chains has grown to more than a dozen since then.

Risks to understand
USDY carries risks that differ from those of a plain crypto token.
- Issuer and counterparty risk: The value depends on Ondo and its partners holding the Treasuries and deposits, and on honoring redemptions.
- Regulatory and eligibility risk: It is offered to qualifying non-US investors under Regulation S. Rules can change, and access may be restricted by location or status.
- Transfer restrictions: Allowlist and blocklist controls mean tokens can be limited in who can hold or move them.
- Interest rate risk: Yield follows short-term rates and can fall if rates fall.
- Smart contract and bridge risk: Multi-chain issuance adds technical exposure.
- Liquidity risk: Market volume is small compared with the supply, so selling a large amount on open markets may be harder than redeeming through the issuer.
A price above $1 is not a sign of error, but it also does not guarantee future returns. This page is informational, not buy or sell advice.
How to store it safely
USDY is held in an ordinary self-custody wallet that supports the chain where your tokens live. Use a reputable wallet and keep the recovery phrase offline, never in photos, cloud notes or chat messages. A hardware wallet adds protection for larger holdings on chains it supports.
Before sending anything, confirm the network and the token contract address from the issuer's documentation, and send a small test amount first. Because transfers may be limited by an allowlist, a transfer to an address that is not approved could fail or leave the tokens stuck, so check the rules first.
Be cautious of fake tokens with similar names, unsolicited airdrops, and approval requests from unfamiliar sites. Review and revoke token approvals you no longer need. If you hold USDY through an exchange or platform instead, you rely on that custodian, so check how it holds client assets.
By the numbers

USDY FAQs
Why is USDY worth more than $1?
Because USDY is a non-rebasing, yield-bearing token. Its balance stays fixed while the value of each token rises as the underlying Treasury and deposit yield accrues. At the time of writing the price was about $1.15.
