What Quant (QNT) is
Quant is a London-based project that builds Overledger, which it describes as a blockchain operating system. The idea is to let developers build applications that run across several blockchains, and to connect existing networks to blockchains, without being tied to a single vendor or technology.
QNT is the token linked to that system. Quant's own token sale material describes it as a utility token that gives access to the Overledger framework. It is not a coin that secures a blockchain of its own, and it is not the native gas token of any network. It is an ERC-20 token issued on Ethereum.
The project's published use cases include cross-chain transactions, running smart contracts across multiple chains, and issuing assets. At the time of writing, QNT ranks around 34th by market capitalisation, so it is one of the larger tokens in the infrastructure and real-world asset categories. Note that a large market value says nothing by itself about how much the underlying software is used. That is a separate question that readers should look into using the project's own documentation.
What QNT is used for
According to the project's materials, QNT is needed to use the Overledger platform. Descriptions of the design say tokens are used to validate and authorise transactions passing through Overledger, and as a unit of account within the ecosystem. Other summaries say QNT pays for goods, services and licensing fees on the network.
In plain terms, the model is that organisations wanting to use Overledger's products would need QNT, in some form, to license or access them. Details such as exactly how much is required, who pays and how fees are calculated are set by Quant and may change, so the project's current documentation is the right place to check.
For most holders, QNT does not carry staking rewards or on-chain governance in the way many DeFi tokens do. The token's value is tied to the expectation that the platform is used and that access requires the token. That is an assumption about adoption, not a guarantee, and it is worth keeping separate from the technology itself.
Supply and tokenomics
QNT has a fixed maximum supply of 14,612,493 tokens. That is a very small count compared with most major tokens, which is why a single QNT has a price in the hundreds of dollars. Per-token price is not a measure of how big or cheap a project is, only market capitalisation and supply give that context.
As of 2026-11-05, about 14.56 million QNT were in circulation, close to the total and maximum figures. That means little supply is left to be released, and the fully diluted value of roughly $2.92B is almost the same as the market cap of about $2.91B.
The price on that date was about $200, with approximately $72M traded over 24 hours. The token's all-time high was about $427 in September 2021 and its all-time low was about $0.22 in August 2018. Those figures are snapshots, not predictions. A capped supply limits one source of dilution, but it does not make a price rise, since demand can fall as easily as it can grow.
Chains, holding and trading
QNT is issued on Ethereum as an ERC-20 token, and the data lists no other chain as its native home. This means it behaves like any other Ethereum token: it lives at an Ethereum address, and you need a small amount of ETH to pay network fees when moving it.
Because it is an ERC-20 token, it works with common Ethereum wallets, including software wallets and hardware wallets. It is also listed on many centralised exchanges, where most trading happens. QNT is also tracked in categories such as Ethereum ecosystem, infrastructure, real-world assets and the Coinbase 50 index, which reflects broad exchange coverage.
Ways people hold it in general terms:
- On a centralised exchange account, which is convenient but means the exchange controls the keys.
- In a self-custody wallet, where you control the keys and are responsible for security.
Always confirm that you are sending to an Ethereum address and that the token contract matches the one published by the project. Lookalike tokens with the same name or symbol exist for many projects.
History and notable events
QNT launched in June 2018, the same year the project's token sale took place. Its all-time low of about $0.22 was recorded in August 2018, early in its life.
The token reached its all-time high of roughly $427 in September 2021, during the broad crypto market peak of that cycle. It then fell substantially in the following bear market. As of 2026-11-05, the price was about $200, and the data shows a gain of roughly 173% over the previous year and about 4% over the previous seven days. Those moves illustrate how volatile the token can be, in both directions, and past performance does not indicate what happens next.
The project positions itself around enterprise and institutional interoperability rather than retail DeFi, so its story has been driven more by announcements and adoption claims than by on-chain activity. Readers should check any partnership or deployment claim against primary sources, because social media posts sometimes present loose speculation or exaggerated price targets as fact.
Risks to understand
Adoption risk. QNT's case depends on organisations actually using Overledger and needing the token to do so. If the platform sees little use, or competing interoperability tools prove better, the token's utility could be limited.
Limited transparency. Overledger is a commercial product, and much of the usage happens off-chain or privately. It can be hard for outsiders to verify how much real demand exists.
Price volatility. The token fell sharply after its 2021 high and has since moved widely. A small supply and moderate daily trading volume mean prices can change quickly.
Smart contract and bridge risk. As an ERC-20 token, it carries the usual Ethereum risks, including phishing, fake token contracts and approvals granted to malicious sites.
Hype and scams. Videos and posts promising huge price targets should be treated with scepticism. Nothing here is investment advice, and no one can reliably predict token prices.
Custody risk. Leaving tokens on an exchange exposes you to that company's solvency and security, and losing your recovery phrase in self-custody can mean losing the funds permanently.
How to store QNT safely
Since QNT is an ERC-20 token, any Ethereum-compatible wallet can hold it. For larger amounts, many people prefer a hardware wallet, which keeps the private keys offline and requires physical confirmation of each transaction.
Some practical habits:
- Write the recovery phrase on paper or metal, store it offline, and never type it into a website or share it with anyone.
- Copy the token contract address from the project's official documentation rather than from a search result or a message.
- Send a small test amount first when moving funds to a new address.
- Keep a little ETH in the wallet to cover network fees.
- Review and revoke old token approvals periodically, especially after connecting to unfamiliar sites.
- Be wary of unsolicited direct messages, airdrops and support requests, which are common scam routes.
If you keep tokens on an exchange for trading, enable two-factor authentication and consider withdrawing amounts you do not plan to trade soon. Whichever route you choose, you are responsible for checking local rules on crypto holdings and taxes.
By the numbers
Quant in numbers
Quant (QNT) is ranked #35 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $2.75B and a price of $189.13 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($2.76B) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.
The price was down 2.4% over 7 days, down 25.9% over 30 days, up 114% over the past year. It trades about 56% below its all-time high of $427.42, set on Sep 11, 2021.
About 14.56M QNT are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 14.61M (100% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $71.5M, or 2.6% of its market cap: moderate turnover.
QNT has token contracts on Ethereum. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
CoinGecko groups QNT under Real-world asset (RWA) tokens, Infrastructure tokens.

QNT FAQs
What is QNT used for?
QNT is used to access Quant's Overledger platform. Project materials describe it as a utility token for licensing, services and validating transactions within the Overledger ecosystem. Exact requirements are set by Quant, so check its current documentation.
What is the maximum supply of Quant?
The maximum supply is 14,612,493 QNT. As of 2026-11-05, about 14.56 million were circulating, so very little remains to be released.
Does Quant have its own blockchain?
No. QNT is an ERC-20 token issued on Ethereum and is not the native token of its own chain. Overledger is a separate platform that connects to multiple blockchains.
Where can QNT be stored?
Because it is an ERC-20 token, it can be held in any Ethereum-compatible wallet, including hardware wallets. It also trades on many exchanges, but holding it there means the exchange controls your keys.
