What Flare is
Flare is an EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain built around one idea: smart contracts are more useful when they can reliably read data from outside their own chain. That data might be asset prices, events on other blockchains, or information from the wider internet. Because Flare is EVM-compatible, developers can write applications in the same style used on Ethereum and related networks.
What sets Flare apart is that its data tools are part of the network itself rather than add-ons run by a single company. Two protocols do most of the work. The Flare Time Series Oracle (FTSO) supplies decentralized price and data feeds to applications on the chain. The State Connector lets smart contracts use information from other blockchains and from the internet. Both rely on many independent data providers instead of one central source.
FLR is the network's native token. As of 2026-11-05 it ranked around 101st by market capitalization, and it is classed as a Layer 1 or smart contract platform token.
What FLR is used for
FLR has several roles on the network. It pays transaction fees, which help discourage spam, and it can be used for payments and as collateral in applications. It is also staked with validator nodes that secure the chain.
FLR can be wrapped into an ERC-20 version called WFLR. Wrapped tokens can be delegated to FTSO data providers, and they can also be used to take part in governance. According to the project's own description, these two uses are not mutually exclusive, so a holder is not forced to pick one.
Some sources also describe FLR as a governance token, giving holders a say in proposals to improve the blockchain. In April 2026 the Flare team published a proposal aimed at tying growth in network activity more closely to the value of FLR. Readers should treat it as a proposal and check its current status through official Flare channels before relying on it.
Supply and tokenomics
At the time of writing, about 87.7 billion FLR were circulating and the total supply was about 106.9 billion. No maximum supply is listed in the data, so the long-term cap is not clearly defined here. The fully diluted valuation was about $644.9M against a market cap of about $529.3M as of 2026-11-05, a gap that reflects tokens not yet in circulation.
This page does not have reliable detail on the full emission schedule, allocation breakdown or current inflation rate, and we won't guess at them. Anyone who wants to understand dilution should read the official Flare documentation on token distribution, rewards and any recent governance changes.
One publicly known piece of history: Flare distributed FLR to eligible holders of XRP in an airdrop, and some exchanges, Coinbase among them, credited eligible customers with the tokens.
Chains and how FLR is held and traded
FLR is the native coin of the Flare network, so its home is Flare's own chain. The data lists no other chains where FLR is issued as a separate token. On Flare, the wrapped WFLR form is what applications and delegation features typically use.
In general terms, people hold FLR either on centralized exchanges that list it or in self-custody wallets that support the Flare network. Trading on exchanges is straightforward, but moving FLR onto the Flare chain requires choosing the correct network when withdrawing. Using the wrong network is a common source of lost funds, so check the deposit and withdrawal details carefully and consider a small test transfer first.
Trading activity looked modest relative to the market cap, with 24-hour volume of about $1.7M as of 2026-11-05. Thin liquidity can mean wider spreads on some venues.
History and notable events
Flare's network launched its FLR token and mainnet functionality in stages, and the data we have does not give an exact launch date, so this page leaves one out. The token's all-time high was about $0.150 on 2023-01-09, around the time of the airdrop and listings.
Since then the price has fallen heavily. As of 2026-11-05 it was about $0.006, down roughly 55% over the past year, and the all-time low of about $0.00585 was recorded on 2026-10-30, only days earlier. Over the prior seven days the price was little changed, down under 1%.
These figures describe what has happened, not what will happen, and nothing here is a forecast. Flare also appears in some lists as a token tied to market-maker portfolios, which is worth knowing when thinking about who holds supply, although the data gives no details.
Risks to understand
FLR carries the usual risks of a smaller Layer 1 token, and a few that are specific to its design.
- Price volatility: the token sits close to its all-time low and far below its 2023 peak. Large swings in either direction are possible.
- Competition: many EVM chains and oracle networks compete for developers and users. Flare's data focus is a differentiator but not a guarantee of adoption.
- Dilution and tokenomics: with no stated maximum supply, new issuance or changes to rewards could affect holders. Proposals can change over time.
- Oracle and protocol risk: applications that depend on FTSO or State Connector data inherit any weakness in those systems.
- Smart contract risk: wrapping, delegating or using dApps adds contract exposure beyond simply holding the coin.
- Liquidity: low trading volume can make larger orders costly.

How to store FLR safely
For small amounts, a reputable exchange account may be enough, though you then rely on the exchange to keep your funds. For larger or longer-term holdings, a self-custody wallet that supports the Flare network gives you control of your own keys. Hardware wallets compatible with EVM chains are a common choice, as they keep private keys offline.
Write down your recovery phrase on paper or metal, store it offline in more than one secure place, and never type it into a website or share it with anyone, including people claiming to be support staff. Verify the network and address before sending, and test with a small amount first.
If you delegate WFLR or stake, use only the official interfaces and double-check any contract you approve. Be wary of unsolicited airdrop claims, since fake claim sites are a common scam in this ecosystem.
By the numbers
Flare in numbers
Flare (FLR) is ranked #102 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $506M and a price of $0.005768 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $617M, so roughly 82% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.
The price was down 3.5% over 7 days, down 20.0% over 30 days, down 61.4% over the past year. It trades about 96% below its all-time high of $0.1501, set on Jan 9, 2023.
About 87.73B FLR are in circulation, from a total supply of 106.9B. No hard maximum supply is listed.
24-hour trading volume was about $2.82M, or 0.6% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.
FLR is the native token of Flare. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

FLR FAQs
What is FLR used for?
FLR is the native token of the Flare network. It pays transaction fees, can be staked with validators, and can be wrapped as WFLR for delegation to data providers and for governance participation.
Is Flare its own blockchain?
Flare is an EVM-based Layer 1 blockchain. Its distinguishing feature is built-in decentralized data: the FTSO oracle for price feeds and the State Connector for information from other chains and the internet.
Does FLR have a maximum supply?
The data lists no maximum supply for FLR. As of 2026-11-05, about 87.7 billion tokens were circulating out of roughly 106.9 billion in total supply.
What is WFLR?
WFLR is a wrapped, ERC-20 version of FLR. Holding it lets you delegate to FTSO data providers or take part in governance, and the two uses can be combined according to the project.
How has the FLR price performed recently?
As of 2026-11-05, FLR traded at about $0.006, roughly 55% lower than a year earlier and close to its all-time low from 2026-10-30. Prices change constantly, so check a live source, and note that this is not a prediction or advice.
Was FLR airdropped to XRP holders?
Flare distributed FLR to eligible XRP holders in an airdrop, and some exchanges credited eligible customers. Any new airdrop claims should be verified through official channels because scam sites are common.
What is the market cap of Flare?
As of Nov 6, 2026, Flare had a market cap of about $506M, ranking #102 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.
What is the all-time high of FLR?
Flare's all-time high is $0.1501, reached on Jan 9, 2023. Its all-time low is $0.005731 (Nov 6, 2026). Past prices say nothing about future returns.
What is the circulating supply of FLR?
As of Nov 6, 2026, about 87.73B FLR were in circulation; no fixed maximum supply is listed.
Which blockchains is FLR on?
FLR is the native token of Flare.
