YO Protocol Review 2026: Multi-Chain ERC-4626 Yield Vaults

YO is a non-custodial, multi-chain yield optimizer that issues ERC-4626 yoTokens for ETH, BTC, USD and EUR deposits. Its pitch is hands-off, risk-adjusted yield, but audit and fee details are not published in the sources reviewed.

Good

Our verdict on yo

7.0/10

YO suits DeFi users who want diversified, hands-off yield on ETH, BTC or stablecoins without rebalancing across chains themselves. Its main strengths are the standard yoToken vault design and an emphasis on risk-adjusted allocation, with zero fees reported by one source. The main caveat is that audits, team details and fee terms are not published in the sources reviewed, and returns depend on several third-party protocols. Start small and verify the vault details in the app.

What is yo?

YO is a multi-chain yield optimizer. Its own description is a set-and-forget product that continuously rebalances assets across DeFi to deliver the best risk-adjusted yield. The name stands for yield optimizer.

Users deposit into vaults and receive yoTokens, which follow the ERC-4626 vault standard. A third-party review lists vaults for ETH, BTC, USD and EUR exposure, and says the protocol is non-custodial. It also reports backing from Paradigm and Haun Ventures, though that comes from a single source.

YO is a yield aggregator in the same space as other vault products. Its distinguishing points are cross-chain allocation and an emphasis on risk scoring. It has no governance token according to one write-up, and it runs a points program that may lead to a future airdrop.

How yo works

A user deposits an asset such as ETH, BTC or a stablecoin into a YO vault. In return they receive a yoToken, an ERC-4626 vault share. The token does not rebase. Instead, its exchange rate against the underlying asset rises as the vault earns yield.

Behind the vault, YO moves funds between yield sources such as lending markets and liquidity venues, across several chains. The project says it targets the best risk-adjusted yield rather than the highest raw rate. A third-party review says allocation follows quantitative risk ratings from an outside provider, and the project describes its own Risk Graph for judging which sources are safe.

Because the protocol handles rebalancing, bridging and gas, depositors avoid chasing rates manually. In return they depend on the vault contracts and on every protocol the vault allocates into.

7 features

Key features

01

ERC-4626 yoTokens

Each vault issues an ERC-4626 yoToken, such as yoETH or yoBTC, that represents a share of the vault and gains value as yield accrues.

02

Automated rebalancing

Deposits are continuously reallocated across protocols and chains, so users do not have to move funds by hand to follow rates.

03

Risk-adjusted routing

Allocation is guided by risk ratings, and the project describes a Risk Graph, an internal risk intelligence layer that can also be queried by agents.

04

Multiple asset vaults

A third-party review lists yoETH, yoUSD, yoBTC and yoEUR vaults, covering ETH, BTC, dollar and euro exposure.

05

Socialized costs

One source says gas is subsidized and bridging and slippage costs are shared among depositors, which helps smaller deposits.

06

DeFi composability

yoTokens can reportedly be used on protocols such as Morpho, Euler, Pendle, Fluid or Balancer, with points multipliers on some.

07

Points and referrals

Depositors earn points per dollar deposited per day, plus referral bonuses, with a possible future airdrop that is not officially confirmed.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Non-custodial design with standard ERC-4626 vault tokens that other DeFi apps can integrate.
  • Cross-chain rebalancing removes the need to move funds between chains by hand.
  • One source reports zero management or performance fees, with gas subsidized.
  • Focus on risk-adjusted yield and a dedicated risk intelligence layer rather than raw APY alone.
  • Vaults for ETH, BTC, dollar and euro assets cover several common deposit types.
  • yoTokens can reportedly be reused in protocols such as Morpho, Euler, Pendle, Fluid and Balancer.

Watch out for

  • No audit reports, team details or security incident history appear in the sources reviewed, so smart-contract risk is hard to size up.
  • The zero-fee claim comes from a single third-party write-up, and bridging and slippage costs are shared among depositors.
  • Yield depends on third-party protocols such as lending markets and liquidity venues, so a failure in any of them can hit vault holders.
  • Allocation relies on external risk ratings and the project's own risk layer, and these are models that can be wrong.
  • There is no governance token yet, and the points-to-airdrop path is unconfirmed, so any token expectations are speculative.
  • Chain coverage is described differently across sources, so users should check the app for the vaults currently live.

yo fees

One third-party review reports that YO charges zero management or performance fees and subsidizes gas. It says other costs, such as bridging fees, are socialized among depositors. The project's own fee documentation could not be reviewed, so treat this as a single-source claim.

Because costs like slippage and bridging are shared, they can reduce the vault's overall return even without a headline fee. Users should check the vault page in the YO app for current terms, and expect normal network fees when depositing or withdrawing.

Is yo safe?

YO is described as non-custodial, so users keep exposure through yoTokens held in their own wallets. The sources reviewed do not include audit reports, a bug bounty, team names or a record of incidents, so those details should be checked directly with the project before depositing.

The main risks are smart-contract bugs in the vaults, failures in the lending and liquidity protocols they allocate to, bridge risk when funds move between chains, and mistakes in risk ratings. A third-party review reports investor backing, but that does not replace an audit. Yields vary and are not guaranteed.

6 steps

How to get started with yo

  1. 1

Open the YO app and connect a compatible wallet such as MetaMask or one supported through WalletConnect.

  2. 2

Switch to a supported network, for example Base, Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche or Gnosis.

  3. 3

Choose the vault that matches your asset, such as yoETH, yoUSD, yoBTC or yoEUR.

  4. 4

Check the vault page for current yield, fees and any published audits before depositing.

  5. 5

Deposit a small amount first and confirm you receive the matching yoToken in your wallet.

  6. 6

Track the vault's exchange rate over time and redeem the yoToken for the underlying asset when you want to exit.

Who yo is for

YO is for DeFi users who already hold ETH, BTC or stablecoins and want yield without manually moving funds between protocols and chains. It suits people comfortable with smart-contract risk and with using wallet-based apps. It is less suitable for anyone who needs published audits, a regulated custodian or guaranteed returns.

yo FAQs

What is YO Protocol?

YO is a DeFi yield optimizer. Users deposit assets into vaults and receive yoTokens, and the protocol reallocates those assets across protocols and chains to chase the best risk-adjusted yield.

Does YO charge fees?

One third-party write-up says YO charges no management or performance fees and subsidizes gas, while bridging and similar costs are socialized among depositors. The project's own fee page was not available, so confirm the current terms in the app before depositing.

Which assets can I deposit into YO?

The same write-up lists yoETH, yoUSD, yoBTC and yoEUR vaults. Depositors can use ETH, BTC, stablecoins or euro-denominated assets, depending on which vault is live.

Does YO have a token?

A third-party review says YO currently has no governance token and runs a points program that may lead to one, with no official distribution details announced. Similarly named tokens on Solana are unrelated products, so be careful with lookalike tickers.

Which chains does YO support?

A third-party review lists Base, Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Avalanche and Gnosis as supported chains for deposits. It also says funds can be routed to yield pools on chains such as Solana, and another directory records Base only.

Is YO safe?

The vaults are described as non-custodial, but they carry smart-contract, counterparty and strategy risk from the underlying protocols. No audit information was found in the sources, so treat any deposit as at-risk capital and check for published audits first.
