Tokenlon AMM Review 2026: A Long-Running Ethereum DEX With Small TVL

Tokenlon is a decentralized exchange that started inside the imToken wallet in 2018 and became independent in 2019. It lists a LON token and two audits, but its tracked on-chain liquidity is small.

Our verdict on Tokenlon AMM

6.0/10

Tokenlon suits experienced DeFi users and existing imToken users who want a non-custodial swap venue with a long history and an associated LON token. Its main strengths are the 2018 origin, two listed audits and evidence of past trading volume through trade mining. The main caveats are tiny tracked TVL that recently fell, an unpublished fee schedule, and unclear network support across sources. Treat it as one venue among several and compare quotes before trading.

What is Tokenlon AMM?

Tokenlon is a decentralized exchange and payment settlement protocol. It launched in 2018 as part of the imToken wallet and became an independent DEX on July 31, 2019. Its homepage promises trustless token-to-token trading, best-price quotes and minimal slippage.

DefiLlama lists it under DEXs on Ethereum, with a LON token and two audits. Tracked TVL is about $127,000, and it dropped about 30% over seven days. That is small next to large DEXs, although trading volume can differ from TVL because some liquidity comes from market makers.

The project has had real activity. A November 2024 update reported trade-mining phase 33 with about $671.6 million in volume. The help centre also describes a LON buyback programme. The project does not publish team details, a licence or a fee table on its homepage.

How Tokenlon AMM works

Tokenlon lets you swap one token for another directly from your wallet, without handing funds to a central exchange. You ask for a quote, sign the transaction, and the swap settles on-chain. Your tokens stay under your control until the trade executes.

The homepage promises trustless token-to-token exchange, best-price quotes and minimal slippage. One third-party profile says the protocol aggregates liquidity from professional market makers and from AMMs. An AMM prices trades from the balance of tokens in a liquidity pool rather than from an order book.

The LON token sits alongside the exchange. According to Tokenlon's help centre, the project buys back LON on the open market. Public reporting also refer to phased trade mining, which rewards trading activity. The exact reward and buyback mechanics are not detailed in its homepage.

6 features

Key features

01

Non-custodial token swaps

Trades are token-to-token swaps made from your own wallet, with no account sign-up described on the homepage.

02

Price-focused quotes

The protocol is built around quoting competitive prices and keeping slippage low. One third-party profile describes a model that draws on both professional market makers and AMM liquidity.

03

LON trade mining

Tokenlon ran LON trade mining in phases. Phase 33 ended on 25 November 2024 with reported volume of about $671.6 million.

04

LON buyback programme

The help centre says Tokenlon buys back LON on the open market, and that buybacks are verifiable on-chain.

05

Open API

Tokenlon publishes RPC and RESTful API endpoints, so developers and integrators can request quotes programmatically.

06

imToken heritage

It began as imToken's built-in exchange and has operated as an independent DEX since July 2019.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Has operated since 2018 and became an independent DEX in 2019, a long track record for a DEX.
  • Two audits are listed for the protocol.
  • Non-custodial swaps: funds stay in your wallet until the trade executes.
  • Reported trade-mining volume of about $671.6 million in one phase (Nov 2024) suggests real trading activity.
  • Open RPC and RESTful APIs make integration possible.
  • LON buybacks are described as on-chain and verifiable.

Watch out for

  • Tracked TVL is only about $127,000, and it fell roughly 30% in a week, so on-chain liquidity is thin.
  • Fee levels are not shown on the homepage, so users have to check a quote before trading.
  • Sources disagree on which networks it runs on: DefiLlama lists Ethereum only, while one search snippet mentions Arbitrum.
  • Part of the quoted liquidity may come from professional market makers, which adds counterparty and off-chain dependencies.
  • The team, governance details and audit reports are not described on the homepage.
  • The LON token adds market risk, and buyback and trade-mining programmes can change.

Tokenlon AMM fees

Tokenlon does not publish a fee table on its homepage, and public sources reviewed here contain no swap fee percentage. Users would see the effective price, including any spread or fee, in the quote shown in the trading interface before confirming.

On top of any protocol fee, an Ethereum swap incurs network gas costs that depend on congestion. The LON trade-mining and buyback programmes may affect net trading costs, but their current terms are best checked in the Tokenlon help centre.

Is Tokenlon AMM safe?

DefiLlama lists two audits for Tokenlon, and the protocol has run since 2018 without any incident appearing reviewed here. Audits reduce but do not eliminate smart-contract risk, and the audit reports are not summarised on the homepage. Swaps are non-custodial, so users face contract and pricing risk rather than exchange custody risk.

If some quotes come from professional market makers, as one third-party profile describes, there may be dependencies on off-chain systems. Tokenlon does not state a regulatory licence on its homepage. Use only the official site address, approve only the amounts you need, and revoke old token approvals periodically.

6 steps

How to get started with Tokenlon AMM

  1. 1

Open the official Tokenlon site and check you are on the correct address, as DEXs are often imitated.

  2. 2

Connect a self-custody wallet that supports Ethereum, or use the imToken wallet if you already have it.

  3. 3

Confirm which network the app is set to, since sources differ on supported chains.

  4. 4

Choose the token pair and amount, then read the quoted price, slippage and gas estimate.

  5. 5

Start with a small swap to learn the flow before moving larger amounts.

  6. 6

Review the help centre for current LON trade-mining or buyback rules if you hold or plan to trade LON.

Who Tokenlon AMM is for

Tokenlon fits DeFi users who already use imToken or hold LON and want a swap venue built around price quotes. It is less suited to users who need deep on-chain liquidity, published fee tables or a regulated service. Beginners should start with small swaps and check the supported network first.

Tokenlon AMM FAQs

What is Tokenlon?

Tokenlon is a decentralized exchange and payment settlement protocol. It launched in 2018 as part of the imToken wallet and became an independent DEX on July 31, 2019. Users swap tokens directly from their own wallets.

What is the LON token used for?

LON is Tokenlon's own token. Public reporting mentions a LON buyback programme, where Tokenlon buys LON on the open market on venues such as Uniswap and SushiSwap, and a LON trade-mining programme. Programme terms can change, so check the official help centre for current rules.

Which blockchains does Tokenlon support?

DefiLlama lists Ethereum as its chain. One search snippet describes it as an AMM on Arbitrum, so the networks currently supported should be confirmed in the app before you trade.

What are Tokenlon's fees?

Tokenlon does not publish a fee schedule on its homepage. The price quote shown before you confirm a swap is the figure to rely on, along with network gas costs.

Is Tokenlon safe to use?

DefiLlama lists two audits for the protocol, and the project has operated since 2018. That does not remove smart-contract risk. The audit reports themselves are not summarised on the homepage, so read them on the project's own channels.

How does Tokenlon try to get good prices?

The homepage says it aims for the best price quotes and minimum slippage, and claims 99% of transactions go through. That is the project's own claim and we have not verified it. One third-party profile says it combines professional market-maker and AMM liquidity.
