ActiveAngstrom Review 2026: MEV-Aware DEX on Uniswap V4
Angstrom is a Uniswap V4 hook-based DEX on Ethereum, built by Sorella Labs, that uses batch auctions to return MEV to liquidity providers. It is a new design with modest TVL and no listed audits in DefiLlama data.

Good
Our verdict on Angstrom
6.8/10Angstrom suits liquidity providers and traders on Ethereum who care about MEV and want to try a newer approach built on Uniswap V4. Its main strength is a clear mechanism: batch auctions and application-level sequencing aim to return arbitrage value to LPs. The main caveats are no audits in DefiLlama data, modest TVL of about $5.4M and a short track record. Read the security page and docs, and begin with a small amount.

What is Angstrom?
Angstrom is a decentralized exchange from Sorella Labs, built as a hook on Uniswap V4 and running on Ethereum. Its goal is to protect liquidity providers and traders from MEV by sequencing transactions at the application level.
DefiLlama lists it under DEXes with about $5.4M in TVL, a 1.7% 7-day change and a listing date of July 2025. It has no token and no audits listed in that data. Press results say the Uniswap Foundation announced the launch in July 2025, and the homepage mentions live Uniswap incentives.
The pitch is simple: LPs lose value to arbitrageurs because pool prices lag centralized exchanges, and Angstrom tries to capture that value for LPs. This review draws on public data and the project's own materials and is not based on hands-on testing.
How Angstrom works
On a standard AMM, the pool price lags centralized exchange prices. Arbitrageurs trade the difference and keep the profit, which the homepage says has cost LPs about $198.9M since the Merge. Angstrom is designed to capture that value instead.
It does this as a Uniswap V4 hook that sequences transactions at the application level. High-frequency off-chain auctions run alongside Ethereum block production, so the right to trade against the pool at updated prices goes to the auction rather than to outside bots. Swaps in a block are executed in a batch at a uniform price.
The result is that arbitrage proceeds and fees flow to LPs, while traders avoid sandwich attacks. The exact auction rules and bidding details are in the whitepaper and docs, which are not reproduced.
6 features
Key features
01
Uniswap V4 hook
Angstrom runs as a hook on Uniswap V4, using that framework's pool design while adding its own auction logic.
02
App-level sequencing
Transactions are sequenced at the application level so MEV value is internalized instead of going to outside bots and validators.
03
Continuous auctions
High-frequency off-chain auctions run as external prices move, with the aim of stopping arbitrageurs from taking LP value.
04
Batch swap execution
Swaps execute in a batch auction at a uniform price per block, which per public reporting eliminates sandwich attacks.
05
Concentrated liquidity profiles
LPs can concentrate their liquidity to maximize fee share while their position is active.
06
Portfolio management
The app has Trade, Pools and Portfolio sections to swap, add liquidity and track positions.
Pros and cons
What we like
- Directly targets LP losses from arbitrage, a well-known weakness of standard AMMs.
- Batch execution at a uniform price is described as removing sandwich attacks for traders.
- Built on Uniswap V4, a widely known framework.
- Docs, whitepaper and a security page are published.
- Has no token to buy, so the product does not depend on token speculation.
Watch out for
- Single-chain: public sources list Ethereum mainnet only, so it has no multi-chain reach.
- DefiLlama lists zero audits, and the site has a Security page whose contents are not public, so readers must check it themselves.
- TVL of about $5.4M is small next to the largest Ethereum DEXes, which may limit depth for bigger trades.
- Relies on off-chain auctions and application-level sequencing, which adds trust and complexity beyond a plain AMM.
- Newer protocol, listed since July 2025, with a short track record.
- Fee levels and LP returns are not published publicly, so yield claims cannot be verified here.
Angstrom fees
The project does not publish swap fee tiers or LP fee splits. The homepage says LPs earn fees from swaps executed in Angstrom's batch auction and its unlocked state, but gives no rates.
Users would see the actual fees and pool details in the Pools and Trade sections of the app and in the docs. Ethereum gas costs also apply to any on-chain action.
Is Angstrom safe?
DefiLlama lists zero audits for Angstrom. The website links to a Security page, but its contents are not public, so check it and the docs for audit reports and bug bounty details before depositing.
Risks include smart-contract bugs, the added trust in off-chain auction and sequencing components, and ordinary impermanent loss for LPs. The protocol is non-custodial in the sense that you use your own wallet, but contract risk remains. No hacks or incidents appear. Start with small amounts and use only the official address.
6 steps
How to get started with Angstrom
- 1
Open Angstrom from its official website only and read the Docs, Whitepaper and Security pages.
- 2
Connect an Ethereum-compatible wallet and confirm you are on Ethereum mainnet.
- 3
Choose Swap Tokens to trade, or Provide Liquidity to browse pools.
- 4
Review pool fees, the position range and the risks before depositing.
- 5
Start with a small amount to learn how the batch auction and gas costs work.
- 6
Track your positions in the Portfolio section.
Who Angstrom is for
Angstrom is for Ethereum users who already understand LP risk and MEV and want to test a design aimed at reducing both. It is less suited to beginners who want a simple swap on the deepest pools, or to anyone who needs multi-chain support.
Angstrom FAQs
What is Angstrom?
Angstrom is a decentralized exchange built on Uniswap V4 by Sorella Labs. It sequences transactions at the application level so that value usually captured by MEV bots and validators is redirected to swappers and liquidity providers.
Is Angstrom the same as Uniswap?
Angstrom is built as a Uniswap V4 hook and runs on Ethereum mainnet. Press coverage in the results says the Uniswap Foundation supported its launch through the Uniswap V4 Hook Design Lab, but the project does not describe a formal merger or ownership link. Treat it as a separate product from Sorella Labs.
How does Angstrom protect against MEV?
The homepage says Angstrom runs high-frequency auctions as off-chain prices move, so LPs trade at fair prices rather than losing value to arbitrage. Swaps are executed in batches, and one result states that trades in a block execute at a uniform price, which removes sandwich attacks.
Which chains does Angstrom support?
According to DefiLlama, Angstrom runs on Ethereum only. The homepage app copy mentions Ethereum mainnet for liquidity positions, and one third-party result describes it as single-chain.
Does Angstrom have a token?
No. DefiLlama lists no token for Angstrom. The homepage mentions Uniswap incentives being live, but does not describe a native token.
Has Angstrom been audited?
DefiLlama lists zero audits for Angstrom, though the site has a Security page. Check that page and the docs for audit reports before depositing, and begin with a small amount.
