ThalaSwap V2 Review 2026: Aptos AMM Inside Thala DeFi

ThalaSwap V2 is the automated market maker inside Thala, an Aptos DeFi protocol that also offers the MOD stablecoin, liquid staking and a launchpad. Its listed TVL is small, so the case for it rests on Thala's wider ecosystem and Aptos integration.

Our verdict on ThalaSwap V2

6.5/10

ThalaSwap V2 suits Aptos users who want a DEX connected to Thala's MOD stablecoin, liquid staking and launchpad, and who are comfortable managing their own wallet. Its strengths are the integrated product suite and named auditors and oracle partners. The main caveat is the small TVL on this V2 listing, which may mean thinner liquidity, plus unpublished fee details and Aptos-only exposure. Check the audit scope and pool depth before depositing.

What is ThalaSwap V2?

ThalaSwap V2 is the decentralized exchange within Thala, a DeFi protocol built on the Aptos blockchain using the Move language. Thala bundles a DEX, the over-collateralized MOD stablecoin, liquid staking, a launchpad and a stability pool, and calls itself the liquidity engine of Move.

The tracker shows ThalaSwap V2 with a TVL of about $479,000, down 3.7% over seven days, listed since November 2024. That is much smaller than the roughly $16.1 million total value locked the Thala homepage shows for the whole protocol, which also reports about $12.4 billion in cumulative volume and 652,340 users. The two figures measure different scopes, so the V2 DEX should be judged on its own liquidity.

Thala also runs an incubator, Thala Foundry, in partnership with the Aptos foundation. The homepage names ecosystem partners including bridges, oracles, wallets and DeFi projects such as Ondo, Echelon and PancakeSwap.

How ThalaSwap V2 works

ThalaSwap is an automated market maker. Instead of matching buyers and sellers, it holds tokens in pools, and a pricing formula sets the exchange rate based on pool balances. Traders swap against the pool, and liquidity providers deposit tokens and earn a share of the trading activity.

Thala's early material said the AMM would support several pool types, including weighted pools and stable pools. Weighted pools can hold different token ratios, while stable pools are designed for assets that trade near the same price. Thala describes the V2 design as a rebalancing, capital-efficient AMM.

The DEX sits next to other Thala products. Users can borrow the MOD stablecoin against collateral, stake assets for liquid staking tokens, and join new token launches. Price feeds come from oracle providers listed on the site, Switchboard and Pyth.

7 features

Key features

01

Spot trading and launchpad

Swap tokens on Aptos through an automated market maker. The homepage groups spot trading with a launchpad for new token launches.

02

Multiple pool types

Thala describes its AMM as a rebalancing, capital-efficient design. Early Thala material said it would support weighted pools and stable pools, among other types.

03

Permissionless listings

A Thala post says ThalaSwap became permissionless, so anyone can whitelist a token and create liquidity for it.

04

Liquidity pools and staking

Users can deposit assets into liquidity pools to earn a share of trading activity. Thala also offers liquid staking on its Earn page.

05

MOD stablecoin borrowing

Thala's CDP lets users borrow Move Dollar (MOD), an over-collateralized stablecoin, against dozens of assets. A stability pool is part of that system.

06

Bridge and oracle partners

The homepage lists LayerZero and Wormhole as bridges, and Switchboard and Pyth as oracle providers.

07

Aptos wallet support

The homepage lists Petra, Pontem Network and MSafe wallets as ecosystem partners.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Part of an established Aptos DeFi suite that also covers stablecoin borrowing, liquid staking and a launchpad
  • Homepage names Zellic and OtterSec as auditors and links to an audit page
  • Uses oracle providers Switchboard and Pyth, and bridge options through LayerZero and Wormhole
  • Supports several pool types, including stable and weighted pools, according to early project material
  • Works with common Aptos wallets such as Petra, Pontem and MSafe

Watch out for

  • TVL listed for this V2 DEX module is under $500,000, far below the figure Thala shows for its whole protocol
  • Runs only on Aptos, so liquidity and user base depend on one chain's health
  • The audit tracker lists no audits for this specific listing, so readers must check the audit page on the Thala site
  • Trading fees and pool fee tiers are not published in the sources reviewed
  • Permissionless token listing and pool creation can expose users to low-quality or illiquid tokens
  • Team, funding and governance details are not covered in the sources reviewed

ThalaSwap V2 fees

Swap fees, liquidity provider fee shares and any protocol fee are not published in the sources reviewed. Users would normally see the fee for a given pool in the app before confirming a swap, and the Thala docs should list fee tiers.

Beyond protocol fees, users pay Aptos network gas on each transaction. The borrowing side of Thala (the MOD CDP) has its own rates, which are separate from DEX fees.

Is ThalaSwap V2 safe?

The Thala homepage lists Zellic and OtterSec as audit partners and links to an audit page, but the tracker entry for ThalaSwap V2 shows no audits. Readers should confirm which contracts and versions were reviewed. An audit does not guarantee safety.

ThalaSwap is non-custodial: users keep their assets in their own wallet and interact through smart contracts. The main risks are contract bugs, oracle or bridge failures, impermanent loss for liquidity providers and exposure to unvetted tokens, since pool creation is permissionless. Regulatory status and team details are not covered in the sources reviewed. Check local rules on DeFi use and keep wallet keys secure.

6 steps

How to get started with ThalaSwap V2

  1. 1

Set up an Aptos wallet such as Petra, Pontem or MSafe and secure the recovery phrase offline.

  2. 2

Fund the wallet with APT for gas, bridging assets in through a supported bridge such as LayerZero or Wormhole if needed.

  3. 3

Open the Thala app from the official site and connect the wallet.

  4. 4

Check the token addresses and the pool's liquidity before swapping, since listings are permissionless.

  5. 5

Review the quoted price, slippage and fee, then confirm the swap.

  6. 6

If adding liquidity, read the docs on pool types and impermanent loss first, and start with a small amount.

Who ThalaSwap V2 is for

ThalaSwap V2 fits Aptos DeFi users who want to swap tokens, provide liquidity or combine trading with borrowing MOD and liquid staking in one ecosystem. It is less suited to anyone who needs deep multi-chain liquidity or published, fixed fee schedules before they start.

ThalaSwap V2 FAQs

What is ThalaSwap V2?

ThalaSwap V2 is the decentralized exchange part of Thala, a DeFi protocol on the Aptos blockchain. Users swap tokens and supply liquidity to pools through a smart-contract automated market maker instead of an order book.

Which blockchain does ThalaSwap V2 use?

It runs on Aptos, a Move-language blockchain. Thala's bridge partners listed on its site include LayerZero and Wormhole for moving assets in from other chains.

Does ThalaSwap have a token?

The THL token is listed for the Thala protocol. The sources reviewed do not describe exactly how THL is used within ThalaSwap V2, so check the Thala docs for current utility.

Has ThalaSwap been audited?

The Thala homepage names Zellic and OtterSec as auditors and links to an audit page. The tracker entry for this V2 listing shows no audits, so confirm which contracts each audit covers before depositing. Audits reduce risk but do not remove it.

What are the fees on ThalaSwap V2?

Fees are not stated in the sources reviewed. Swap fees and pool fee tiers are normally shown in the app on each pool or at swap time, and the Thala docs should describe them.

Is providing liquidity on ThalaSwap risky?

Yes. Providing liquidity carries impermanent loss, smart-contract risk and token risk, especially in pools for new, permissionlessly listed assets. Only supply what you can afford to lose.
