Hyperion Review 2026: Aptos Hybrid Orderbook-AMM DEX

Hyperion is an on-chain DEX on Aptos that combines an orderbook with AMM liquidity pools. Current DefiLlama TVL is modest at roughly $1.15 million, which is the main caveat.

Our verdict on Hyperion

6.3/10

Hyperion suits Aptos users who want orderbook-style and AMM liquidity in one on-chain venue, and liquidity providers comfortable with concentrated ranges. Its strengths are the hybrid design and Aptos-native build, plus two listed audits. The main caveat is size: TVL is about $1.15 million, far below an earlier claim of over 130 million USDT. Fees, audit details and team information are not public reviewed, so read the docs and start small.

What is Hyperion?

Hyperion is a decentralized exchange built natively for Aptos. DefiLlama classifies it as a DEX and describes it as a fully on-chain hybrid orderbook-AMM, aimed at both professional and retail traders. It has been listed since December 2024 and has a token, RION.

Public reporting shows a project that was prominent in 2025, with an August 2025 post claiming the highest trading volume and user activity on Aptos and TVL above 130 million USDT. A 2026 roadmap and weekly recaps dated June 2026 suggest the team is still publishing updates.

DefiLlama now shows TVL of about $1.15 million, down 2.4% over seven days. That is far below the earlier claim and points to a much smaller liquidity base today.

How Hyperion works

A DEX lets people trade tokens directly from their wallets, without handing funds to a company. Most DEXs use AMM pools, where liquidity providers deposit token pairs and prices follow a formula. An orderbook instead matches buy and sell orders at specific prices.

Hyperion combines both on Aptos. According to its description, it is a hybrid orderbook-AMM, and its documentation snippet mentions swap aggregation, CLMM market-making and vault strategies. CLMM lets liquidity providers concentrate capital in a chosen price range, which can raise capital efficiency but needs active management.

Aptos executes transactions in parallel and with low latency, which the project says suits this kind of trading. Specifics of order matching and fee distribution are not public reviewed.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Combines orderbook and AMM liquidity in one on-chain venue
  • Built natively for Aptos to use its speed and low latency
  • Two audits are listed on DefiLlama
  • Non-custodial: users trade from their own wallets
  • Appears to publish regular updates, including a 2026 roadmap and recent recaps

Watch out for

  • TVL of about $1.15 million on DefiLlama is small, and a snippet from Aug 2025 cites TVL above 130 million USDT, so liquidity has apparently fallen sharply
  • Runs only on Aptos, so it is of little use to people who trade on other chains
  • Fee tiers, audit details and the team are not public reviewed
  • RION token price was reported down about 9% in 24 hours in one snippet, with low daily volume
  • Hybrid orderbook-AMM designs are more complex than simple swaps, which can confuse newcomers
  • Smart-contract risk applies as with any on-chain DEX

Hyperion fees

Trading and liquidity-provider fee tiers are not published publicly reviewed. Fees are normally shown on the pool or swap screen in the app and in the project documentation.

Users also pay Aptos network gas, which is separate from any protocol fee. Check the quote before confirming each trade.

Is Hyperion safe?

DefiLlama lists two audits, but the auditors and scope are not named publicly reviewed. An audit reduces risk without removing it. Smart-contract bugs, oracle problems and impermanent loss for liquidity providers remain possible.

As a non-custodial DEX, Hyperion does not hold your account, but you carry wallet security and approval risk. No hacks or incidents appear. Low TVL and thin RION trading volume can mean higher slippage and price volatility. Check regulations where you live and only use funds you can afford to lose.

6 steps

How to get started with Hyperion

  1. 1

Install an Aptos-compatible wallet and fund it with APT for gas.

  2. 2

Open the official Hyperion site and check the address carefully to avoid copycat sites.

  3. 3

Connect your wallet and review supported pairs, pools and any orderbook markets.

  4. 4

Start with a small swap to see the quoted price, fees and slippage.

  5. 5

If providing liquidity, read how concentrated liquidity ranges work before depositing.

  6. 6

Review the audit reports and documentation before committing larger amounts.

Who Hyperion is for

Hyperion is for Aptos users who want to swap tokens, trade on an orderbook or provide concentrated liquidity from a self-custodial wallet. It is less suited to anyone who needs deep liquidity for large trades or who works mainly on other chains.

Yes. DefiLlama lists RION as the token, and market-data pages for RION appear in public reporting. Public sources reviewed do not detail its utility or tokenomics.

Is Hyperion audited?

DefiLlama lists two audits for Hyperion, but public sources reviewed do not name the auditors or findings. Check the official documentation for the reports before depositing funds.
