SpiritSwap Review 2026: Fantom DEX Wound Down in 2023

SpiritSwap was an early Fantom DEX with farms, a bridge and limit orders. It announced a shutdown in August 2023 after the Multichain incident, so treat it as a legacy project.

Our verdict on Spiritswap

3.0/10

SpiritSwap suits readers researching Fantom DeFi history or anyone who may still hold old LP or staked positions. Its strength was a broad toolkit for a young DEX: AMM swaps, limit orders, Zap, boosted farms and a bridge. The main caveat is decisive: the team announced a wind-down in 2023 after the Multichain incident, and remaining liquidity is tiny. New users should look at actively maintained exchanges instead.

What is Spiritswap?

SpiritSwap was a decentralized exchange on the Fantom Opera chain, founded in 2021 according to one report. It followed the Uniswap-style automated market maker model and added farms, boosted rewards, limit orders and a bridge. At its peak it was among the popular DEXs on Fantom.

In August 2023, the team announced it would cease operations after the Multichain incident. The announcement said that if no team took over by September 1, the DEX would shut down completely, and the community had until then to withdraw liquidity.

What remains is an analytics dashboard titled SpiritSwap Info V2 and a V3 deployment that one tracker shows with about $553 in total value locked as of October 31, 2026. That figure had fallen 64.2% in 30 days. This page is best read as a record of a legacy DEX, not a live platform.

How Spiritswap works

SpiritSwap worked like other automated market makers. Liquidity providers deposited a pair of tokens into a pool. Traders swapped one token for the other against that pool, and an algorithm set the price based on the pool balance. A trading fee went to the liquidity providers.

To reward people for keeping liquidity in place, LP tokens could be staked in farms for SPIRIT emissions. Locking SPIRIT produced inSPIRIT, which boosted farm APRs within a range. The more SPIRIT locked and the longer the lock, the higher the potential boost.

The platform also bundled a Zap for single-token entry, Gelato-powered limit orders and a cross-chain bridge. The bridge relied on Anyswap, later Multichain. When Multichain failed in 2023, that dependency was cited as the reason for the shutdown.

7 features

Key features

01

AMM token swaps

Token swaps ran on pooled liquidity in the Uniswap style, with prices set by an algorithm that keeps each pool balanced.

02

Limit orders

Limit orders were added through an integration with Gelato, which automates smart contract execution.

03

Liquidity and Zap

Users could deposit both tokens of a pair, or use a Zap that converts a single token into an LP position. One source says Zap worked only with FTM at the time.

04

Farms

LP tokens could be staked in farms for extra SPIRIT incentives on top of trading fees.

05

Boosted farms

Boosted farms offered APR ranges that depended on how much SPIRIT a staker locked and for how long.

06

Bridge and faucet

A built-in bridge moved assets between Ethereum, Fantom, Polygon, Arbitrum and Avalanche. A faucet gave new users 0.4 FTM for fees.

07

Portfolio dashboard

A portfolio view showed assets, liquidity, SPIRIT rewards and inSPIRIT and winSPIRIT positions in one place.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Clear AMM design that followed a well-understood Uniswap model
  • Offered limit orders via Gelato, a feature many early DEXs lacked
  • Zap tool let users enter a pool with a single token
  • Boosted farms rewarded long-term SPIRIT lockers
  • Integrated bridge and a small FTM faucet helped newcomers cover gas

Watch out for

  • The team announced in August 2023 that the DEX would wind down, with a September 1 deadline for withdrawing liquidity
  • The bridge feature depended on Multichain, whose failure triggered the shutdown
  • Remaining V3 liquidity is tiny, about $553 in total value locked, and it fell 64.2% in 30 days
  • The only official page that still loads is an analytics dashboard that needs JavaScript, with no trading interface described
  • Fees, audits and team details are not published
  • Rewards relied on SPIRIT emissions and lock-ups, which add token-price and impermanent-loss risk

Spiritswap fees

SpiritSwap's fee schedule is not published. As an AMM, swaps carried a trading fee that was shared with liquidity providers, and users could see the exact split in the app's swap and pool screens. Network gas on Fantom was paid separately in FTM.

Farm rewards in SPIRIT were an extra incentive, not a fee reduction. Bridge costs depended on the bridge provider and are not stated.

Is Spiritswap safe?

The main risk is that the project announced a shutdown in 2023, so users should not expect active development or support. The bridge component depended on Multichain, whose collapse was the stated trigger. Bridge dependencies are a well-known weak point in DeFi.

Audits, custody terms and team details are not published. Smart-contract risk, impermanent loss and token-price risk applied to the pools and farms. Remaining liquidity is very small, so slippage and exit risk are high. Be wary of scam sites imitating the brand.

6 steps

How to get started with Spiritswap

  1. 1

Check the status first: the project announced a wind-down in 2023, so do not deposit new funds.

  2. 2

Connect a wallet such as MetaMask to the Fantom network only if you need to review old positions.

  3. 3

Open the analytics dashboard to look up pool data, noting that it requires JavaScript.

  4. 4

If you still hold LP or staked positions, withdraw liquidity and unstake rewards where the contracts allow it.

  5. 5

Verify any contract address from official channels, because lookalike sites often target defunct DEXs.

  6. 6

Consider moving assets to an actively maintained exchange.

Spiritswap FAQs

Did SpiritSwap shut down?

The team announced in August 2023 that it would wind down operations if no new team took over by September 1. The announcement tied the decision to the Multichain incident, which affected the bridge SpiritSwap relied on. Users were told to withdraw their liquidity before the deadline.

What was SpiritSwap?

SpiritSwap was a decentralized exchange on the Fantom Opera chain, modelled on the Uniswap automated market maker design. Liquidity providers deposited token pairs, and traders swapped against those pools. It also offered farms, a bridge, limit orders and a locked-token system around SPIRIT.

What is the SPIRIT token?

SPIRIT was the native protocol token. One source puts total supply at 1,000,000,000. It could be earned by farmers and locked to receive inSPIRIT, which gave access to boosted farm rewards.

Can I still use SpiritSwap?

The only site still reachable is an analytics page titled SpiritSwap Info V2, which needs JavaScript to run. A tracker lists a SpiritSwap V3 deployment with about $553 in total value locked as of October 31, 2026. Anyone with funds left in old pools should check their positions carefully and avoid unsolicited links.

Which blockchain did SpiritSwap run on?

SpiritSwap ran on Fantom Opera. Its bridge, powered by Anyswap (later Multichain), covered Ethereum, Fantom, Polygon, Arbitrum and Avalanche, according to one review site.

Is SpiritSwap safe to use now?

The shutdown announcement and the near-empty V3 liquidity make it a poor choice for new deposits. Active Fantom-ecosystem DEXs or other maintained exchanges are the more sensible route. This is research, not financial advice.
