ShibaSwap Review 2026: The Shiba Inu Ecosystem DEX

ShibaSwap is the dedicated decentralized exchange of the Shiba Inu community, launched in July 2021 for swapping, staking and liquidity. It is simple to approach, but it is exposed to meme-token volatility and smart-contract risk.

Our verdict on Shibaswap

6.3/10

ShibaSwap suits existing SHIB, LEASH and BONE holders who want to swap, stake or provide liquidity inside the Shiba Inu ecosystem from a self-custody wallet. Its main strength is that it is purpose-built for those tokens, with a simple interface and a governance role for BONE. The main caveat is risk: audits and fees are not published, there is no insurance, and rewards depend on volatile meme-ecosystem tokens. Use only funds you can afford to lose.

What is Shibaswap?

ShibaSwap is the decentralized exchange of the Shiba Inu community. It launched on July 6, 2021, as the home for SHIB, LEASH and BONE, with the aim of giving SHIB holders more to do with their tokens than hold them.

The platform covers token swaps, liquidity provision, staking and governance. The interface uses dog-themed names: Dig for providing liquidity, Bury for staking, and Swap for trading. Coverage at launch described the portal as deliberately simple and humorous.

It began on Ethereum. Coverage from April 2024 says it is going multi-chain and migrating to Shibarium, with a fuller version planned. The project's homepage could not be checked here, and the details on its team, audits and fees are not published in the sources available.

How Shibaswap works

ShibaSwap is an automated market maker. Instead of matching buyers and sellers in an order book, it uses pools of two tokens held in smart contracts. When you swap, you trade against a pool, and the price moves with the pool's balance. One write-up describes the platform as a fork of an existing DEX codebase.

Liquidity providers deposit token pairs into pools, which ShibaSwap calls Dig. They receive rewards, mainly in BONE. Staking, called Bury, lets holders lock tokens such as SHIB to earn additional rewards.

BONE is the governance token. Holders can vote on proposals about the ecosystem. The project launched on Ethereum, and 2024 coverage describes a move to Shibarium, the Shiba Inu ecosystem's own network.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Purpose-built for the SHIB, LEASH and BONE community, so core pairs are first-class
  • Non-custodial: trades come straight from your wallet with no account sign-up
  • Covers swapping, liquidity pools, staking and governance in one app
  • Simple, approachable portal with plain action names once learned
  • Established since July 2021, with a roadmap toward Shibarium

Watch out for

  • Built around SHIB-ecosystem tokens, so liquidity outside the core pairs may be thin
  • Staking and liquidity rewards are paid largely in BONE, whose value can swing sharply
  • Not insured, so a smart-contract exploit could mean unrecoverable losses
  • Audit history and team details are not published
  • Moving from Ethereum toward Shibarium adds bridge and network risk, and the Shibarium side is newer
  • Dog-themed terms such as Dig, Bury and Woof can confuse people used to standard DeFi labels

Shibaswap fees

Public sources do not publish a fee schedule for swaps, staking or liquidity pools. Users would see any swap fee and the expected output in the swap interface before confirming a trade.

On top of any platform fee, every on-chain action costs network gas. On Ethereum this can be significant at busy times, which was part of the reason for moving activity toward Shibarium.

Is Shibaswap safe?

ShibaSwap is non-custodial, so the main risk is smart-contract and counterparty exposure within the pools rather than an exchange holding your funds. No audit reports, bug bounty or insurance are mentioned, and one community comment says the platform is not insured, meaning funds lost to an exploit may not be recoverable.

Several websites use the ShibaSwap name and claim to be official, so phishing is a real concern. Confirm the address through the Shiba Inu project's official channels and review wallet approvals carefully. The platform's regulatory status is not described in the sources, and users should check the rules where they live.

6 steps

How to get started with Shibaswap

  1. 1

Install a self-custody wallet that supports the network ShibaSwap currently uses, and secure the recovery phrase offline.

  2. 2

Make sure you have the right entry point to the app, since several unofficial pages use the ShibaSwap name. Verify the address from the Shiba Inu project's official channels.

  3. 3

Fund the wallet with the tokens you want to trade plus enough of the network's gas token for fees.

  4. 4

Connect your wallet to the app and start with a small swap to check the quote, fees and slippage.

  5. 5

If you want rewards, review the Dig (liquidity) and Bury (staking) options and read the terms and risks before depositing.

  6. 6

Keep track of the reward tokens you earn, mainly BONE, and decide whether to hold, restake or sell.

Who Shibaswap is for

ShibaSwap is for people who already hold SHIB, LEASH or BONE and want to use them in DeFi, and for those curious about the Shiba Inu ecosystem and Shibarium. It is less suited to traders who need deep liquidity across many assets or to anyone who needs audited, insured products.

No. Trades run through smart contracts directly from your own wallet, with no order book and no account sign-up. That means you keep custody of your tokens, but you also carry the smart-contract risk yourself.

What does Bury mean on ShibaSwap?

Bury is ShibaSwap's name for staking. Users lock tokens such as SHIB, LEASH or BONE and receive rewards in return. Staking carries risk, and one community discussion notes that the platform is not insured.

What is the BONE token used for?

BONE is described as the governance token of ShibaSwap. It is also used as a reward for liquidity providers, and holders can take part in votes on changes to the ecosystem.

Which blockchain does ShibaSwap run on?

ShibaSwap launched on Ethereum. Coverage from April 2024 reports that it is going multi-chain and migrating to Shibarium, the Shiba Inu ecosystem's own network. Check the current interface to see which network you are connecting to.

Is ShibaSwap safe?

Not insured, according to a community comment, and no audit or insurance details appear. Treat it as a high-risk DeFi application and only use funds you can afford to lose.

What are the fees on ShibaSwap?

Public sources do not publish a fee schedule. The swap interface should show the expected output and any fees before you confirm, and you will also pay network gas on every transaction.
