SaucerSwap V1 Review 2026: Hedera's Original AMM

SaucerSwap V1 is the original automated market maker on Hedera, offering token swaps, liquidity pools and SAUCE staking. It has been live since 2022 and publishes audits, but its TVL is modest at about 7.7 million USD.

Our verdict on SaucerSwap V1

7.2/10

SaucerSwap V1 suits users already active on Hedera who want self-custody swaps, liquidity pools and SAUCE staking from a DEX that has been live since 2022. Its strengths are the published audits, open-source code and on-chain transparency around SAUCE supply. The main caveat is size: TVL is about 7.7 million USD and the V1 listing is only part of a platform that has moved toward newer versions. Fees are not published publicly, and AMM liquidity provision carries impermanent loss.

What is SaucerSwap V1?

SaucerSwap V1 is an automated market maker on Hedera. DefiLlama describes it as a protocol that uses the Hedera Smart Contract Service to bring Solidity contracts together with the Hedera Token Service. It has been listed since August 2022.

The homepage presents SaucerSwap as the Hedera-native DEX, with swaps, limit orders, liquidity pools, SAUCE staking, a bridge section, governance and a public API. The V1 listing tracks about 7.7 million USD in TVL, down 4.4% over seven days.

The site stresses transparency: open-source code, a list of audits, independent market data via GeckoTerminal, and on-chain verification links for SAUCE supply and burns. This review is based on that published material and has not involved hands-on testing.

How SaucerSwap V1 works

SaucerSwap V1 is an automated market maker. Instead of matching buyers and sellers, it uses pools of two tokens. A trader swaps one token for the other against the pool, and the price shifts according to the pool's ratio.

Liquidity providers fund these pools and receive a share of the trading activity. The protocol runs on the Hedera Smart Contract Service, which allows Solidity contracts to work with the Hedera Token Service.

SAUCE is the protocol token. The homepage describes scheduled emissions through a MasterChef contract and a 1 billion cap. Staked SAUCE becomes xSAUCE, which receives buyback distributions. Under the current phase, the homepage lists 40% to xSAUCE, 30% to a Dev Fund, 10% to burn and 20% to a protocol-owned liquidity and incentive reserve.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Native to Hedera, with self-custody and a tool built around the Hedera Token Service.
  • Live since 2022, giving it a multi-year track record on the network.
  • Publishes audits from Hacken, Omniscia, Quantstamp and Halborn, with V1 core and staking audited by Hacken in 2022.
  • Open-source code and on-chain links to verify SAUCE supply, burns and emissions.
  • Offers swaps, pools, staking, limit orders and a public API in one place.

Watch out for

  • TVL of about 7.7 million USD is small next to the large DEXs on other chains, and it fell 4.4% over the past 7 days.
  • The listing is for V1 only; SaucerSwap's newer V2 and V3 contracts are separate, so this page covers only part of the platform.
  • It runs on a single chain, Hedera, so users need a Hedera wallet and HBAR for network fees.
  • The SAUCE emission and buyback system is fairly complex, with phased changes to emissions and distribution that newcomers may find hard to follow.
  • Like all AMM liquidity provision, providing liquidity carries impermanent loss and smart-contract risk.
  • The homepage notes a UK disclaimer, and the project does not describe other regional restrictions, so users must check their local rules.

SaucerSwap V1 fees

Fee levels for SaucerSwap V1 are not stated publicly available. Swap fees, pool fees and any staking or bridge costs would be shown in the app before a transaction is confirmed.

Users also pay Hedera network fees, which are separate from the protocol's own fees. Check the quote screen for the exact amounts.

Is SaucerSwap V1 safe?

The homepage lists published audits: Hacken (July 2022) covering the V1 core, MasterChef and staking; Omniscia (September 2023) on the V2 core; Quantstamp (July 2025) on the wallet app; and Halborn (May 2026) on the V3 contracts. DefiLlama lists 2 audits for V1. The code is described as open source. These help, but they do not guarantee against bugs, and public sources report no incidents either way.

Users keep custody through their own wallet, so the main risks are smart-contract risk, impermanent loss for liquidity providers, token price volatility and wallet security. The homepage carries a disclaimer for UK residents saying the app is a tool and not a recommendation to trade cryptoassets. Check the rules where you live before using it.

6 steps

How to get started with SaucerSwap V1

  1. 1

Install a Hedera-compatible wallet and fund it with HBAR to cover network fees.

  2. 2

Open the official SaucerSwap site and read the disclaimer, including the UK residents notice.

  3. 3

Connect your wallet using the Connect button.

  4. 4

Associate any new token with your Hedera account if the wallet asks, then use the Swap section for a small first trade.

  5. 5

To provide liquidity, open Pool, pick a pair and review the risks of impermanent loss before depositing.

  6. 6

To stake, use the Stake section to convert SAUCE into xSAUCE and review the current APR shown there.

Who SaucerSwap V1 is for

SaucerSwap V1 is for Hedera users who want to swap tokens, provide liquidity or stake SAUCE without handing custody to an exchange. It also suits developers who want to use the public API. Complete beginners should start with small amounts and learn how pools and impermanent loss work first.
