InactiveRomedao Review 2026: Gamified DAO Fork on Moonriver
Romedao was a gamified governance and staking project on Moonriver that followed the OlympusDAO-style rebase model. Its website is reported offline since December 2025, and the token trades thinly, so it is best treated as an inactive project.

Our verdict on Romedao
3.0/10Romedao is a historical example of a gamified, OlympusDAO-style staking DAO on Moonriver. The concept is easy to follow, with ROME staked for sROME at 1:1 and governance split across five houses. The main caveat is that its website is reported offline since December 2025, trading volume is negligible, and no audits or team details are published. It suits researchers curious about this era of DeFi, not anyone looking for an active place to stake funds.

What is Romedao?
Romedao is a DAO and staking project that launched on Moonriver, the EVM-compatible parachain of Kusama. Its pitch was to make governance fun by gamifying DeFi, with a native token called ROME and a staked version called sROME.
Governance was divided among five houses: CHAOS, GRAPES, SEMPRONIA, KEK and CONSULs. Each was designed as a separate DAO with its own rules and goals, with House of CONSULs acting as the more traditional governance body.
The project now looks inactive. One token data page reports its website has been offline since 25 December 2025. Price pages list ROME at about 5.43 US dollars with a market cap under 800 thousand dollars, a circulating supply of about 146 thousand tokens and no meaningful trading volume. The team, audits and treasury details are not published in the material reviewed.
How Romedao works
Romedao followed the staking-and-rebase pattern popularised by OlympusDAO, and a video in public reporting describes it as a fork. Users hold ROME, stake it, and receive sROME at a 1:1 ratio. Rewards arrive as a rebase, which increases the sROME balance over time rather than paying a separate token.
On top of the staking token, the project set up five sub-DAOs, called houses, each meant to behave as its own DAO. House of CONSULs focused on governance, economic policy and community. The stated aim was to make governance more engaging by turning DeFi participation into a game, which the project described as an APY-driven role-playing concept.
The network is Moonriver, an EVM-compatible parachain on Kusama. That means standard Ethereum-style wallets and contracts work, but liquidity and users are far smaller than on major chains. Any advertised yield depended on the rebase design and market demand for ROME, not a guaranteed return.
6 features
Key features
01
ROME to sROME staking
ROME holders could stake to receive sROME, redeemable 1:1 for ROME. Staking rewards were paid through a rebase mechanism.
02
Gamified governance
The project positioned itself around making DAO governance engaging by adding game-like mechanics to DeFi participation.
03
Five-house DAO structure
Governance was split into five sub-DAOs: CHAOS, GRAPES, SEMPRONIA, KEK and CONSULs. Each was meant to have its own rules and goals.
04
House of CONSULs
House of CONSULs was described as a traditional DAO focused on governance, economic policy and community matters.
05
Rewards calculator
A standalone calculator let users enter an sROME amount, APY and purchase price to estimate staking rewards.
06
Moonriver deployment
The project deployed on Moonriver, an EVM-compatible parachain of Kusama, which allows cross-chain transactions.
Pros and cons
What we like
- Clear concept: staking with a gamified, multi-house governance structure
- Simple 1:1 conversion between ROME and sROME
- Built on an EVM-compatible network, so standard wallets work
- Included a rewards calculator so users could model staking returns
Watch out for
- The project's website is reported offline since late December 2025, so the product may no longer be maintained
- Trading volume is shown as zero or unavailable on price pages, which points to very thin liquidity
- Staking-and-rebase tokens of this type depend on new buyers and can lose most of their value quickly
- No audit reports, team details or treasury figures are published in the material reviewed
- Runs on Moonriver, a smaller network with limited liquidity and tooling compared with major chains
Romedao fees
Romedao does not publish a fee schedule in the material reviewed. Costs would include Moonriver network gas, any swap fees on the DEX used to buy or sell ROME, and whatever protocol-level mechanics applied to staking.
The rewards calculator asked users to enter their own APY and rebase assumptions rather than showing fixed fees. Anyone interacting with the contracts would see exact costs in their wallet before confirming a transaction.
Is Romedao safe?
No audit reports, team identities or treasury disclosures appear in the material reviewed, so smart-contract risk and counterparty risk cannot be assessed. The reported offline website also means users may lack official guidance, updates or working front ends.
Tokens of this type depend on continuing demand, and near-zero trading volume makes exits difficult. Fake or look-alike contracts are a common risk for abandoned projects, so verify any address on a block explorer. Regulatory status is not stated. No hack is reported in the material reviewed.
6 steps
How to get started with Romedao
- 1
Check whether the project is still operating, since its website is reported offline and the token trades with little volume.
- 2
Review the ROME and sROME contracts on a Moonriver block explorer and confirm which addresses are genuine.
- 3
Set up an EVM wallet and add the Moonriver network, with a small amount of MOVR for gas.
- 4
If you still choose to participate, buy ROME on a Moonriver DEX that lists it, checking liquidity depth first.
- 5
Only if a working staking contract exists, stake ROME to receive sROME and use the rewards calculator to set realistic expectations.
- 6
Start with an amount you can afford to lose and keep track of the position, since exits may be difficult.
Who Romedao is for
Romedao is mainly of interest to people studying early rebase-token and DAO experiments on Moonriver, or holders who already have ROME and want to understand what it was. It is not suited to newcomers seeking an actively maintained, audited place to earn yield.
Romedao FAQs
What is Romedao?
Romedao (ROME) was a community-run DAO project on Moonriver, a Kusama-connected EVM network. It combined staking with a gamified take on governance, using five sub-DAOs called houses.
How does staking ROME work?
Stakers received sROME in return for ROME at a 1:1 ratio, and sROME could be swapped back for ROME at the same rate. A rewards calculator on the project's tools let users estimate rebase rewards from their sROME amount and a chosen APY.
Is Romedao still active?
One token data page reports the project's website has been offline since 25 December 2025. Price pages also show no recent trading volume, so the project appears inactive. Check current on-chain activity yourself before assuming otherwise.
What is the ROME token worth?
Price pages list a price of about 5.43 US dollars, a market cap near 794 thousand dollars and a circulating supply of about 146 thousand ROME. Volume is shown as unavailable, so a quoted price may not be one you can actually trade at.
What are the Romedao houses?
The five houses are House of CHAOS, House of GRAPES, House of SEMPRONIA, House of KEK and House of CONSULs. Each is meant to act as its own DAO with separate rules and goals, and together they were intended to govern the platform.
Is Romedao safe to invest in?
The risks are high. The site is reported offline, liquidity is thin, no audits are published in the material reviewed, and rebase-style tokens often lose value sharply. Only consider amounts you can afford to lose entirely.
