Harbor Review 2026: f(x) Fork With No Active Markets

Harbor is a fork of f(x) Protocol that lets users mint pegged haTOKENS and leveraged hsTOKENS against yield-bearing collateral. Listed TVL is about 1 USD and the app shows no active Earn markets, so it looks dormant or winding down.

Weak

Our verdict on Harbor

4.8/10

Harbor suits experienced DeFi users who want to study a f(x) Protocol fork with pegged and leveraged synthetic tokens. Its strengths are a clear design, yield-bearing collateral and a Sherlock audit. The main caveat is activity: listed TVL is about 1 USD, no Earn markets are active on the homepage, and the track record is only months old. Treat it as a project to watch, and read the docs and audit before depositing anything.

What is Harbor?

Harbor Finance describes itself as a friendly fork of f(x) Protocol, refactored for broader asset support. It lets users mint pegged tokens and leveraged tokens against yield-bearing collateral, with a stated goal of liquidation-free leverage and real yield on synthetic assets.

DefiLlama lists it under Yield on Ethereum and MegaETH, with a TIDE token and a listing date of 12 January 2026. The tracker shows TVL of about 1 USD, and the app homepage reports that no Earn markets match the current filters. Four archived markets are shown with new deposits disabled.

That combination points to a protocol that is either between market launches or winding down older ones. The homepage also mentions Maiden Voyage 2.0, but public sources give no details about it.

How Harbor works

Harbor is built on the f(x) Protocol design. A user deposits yield-bearing collateral, such as fxSAVE or wstETH, and mints one of two synthetic tokens. The collateral continues to earn its own yield while it backs the minted tokens.

haTOKENS are pegged 1:1 to a price feed, for example haETH or haBTC. They can be placed in stability pools, which the project says earn yield. hsTOKENS are the leveraged side. They give variable-leverage directional exposure and rebalance automatically, which the project says avoids margin calls and funding fees.

The main trade-off is that the system relies on price feeds, collateral quality and the rebalancing logic holding up in volatile markets. The project says it plans to extend this to real-world assets such as EUR, gold and silver.

Key features

01

Yield-bearing collateral

Users deposit yield-bearing collateral such as fxSAVE or wstETH to mint synthetic tokens.

02

Pegged haTOKENS

haTOKENS such as haETH and haBTC are pegged 1:1 to price feeds and can earn yield through stability pools.

03

Leveraged hsTOKENS

hsTOKENS give variable-leverage directional exposure with automatic rebalancing, and the project says there are no funding fees or margin calls.

04

Stability pools

Pegged tokens can be staked in stability pools to earn yield, according to the project description.

05

Planned RWA exposure

The project says it is expanding to assets like EUR, gold and silver.

06

Archived markets with exits

Older markets are archived with new deposits disabled, while withdrawals and redeems remain open.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Clear mechanism: pegged haTOKENS and leveraged hsTOKENS built on a known f(x) Protocol design
  • Collateral is yield-bearing, so deposits can keep earning while backing minted tokens
  • Leveraged positions are described as having no funding fees or margin calls
  • Audited by Sherlock according to the app, with two audits listed on DefiLlama
  • Archived markets keep withdrawals and redeems open, so users can exit

Watch out for

  • TVL is listed at about 1 USD on DefiLlama, so there is almost no capital in the protocol at the time of the data
  • The homepage shows no active Earn markets, and four archived markets have new deposits disabled
  • Listed only since January 2026, so the track record is very short
  • Inherits complexity and risk from the f(x) Protocol design, including peg and leverage-rebalancing mechanics
  • Fee levels are not published publicly available, so costs cannot be compared
  • Real-world asset expansion (EUR, gold, silver) is described as planned, not confirmed as live

Harbor fees

Harbor's fee schedule is not included publicly available. DefiLlama's description says hsTOKEN positions have no funding fees or margin calls, but it does not describe minting, redemption or protocol fees.

Users should check the Docs linked from the app and the transaction preview in the app before confirming any action. Network gas on Ethereum or MegaETH will apply on top of any protocol fees.

Is Harbor safe?

The app states that Harbor is audited by Sherlock, and DefiLlama lists two audits. The audit reports are not public, so scope and findings are unknown. Smart-contract, oracle and collateral risks still apply, and the protocol inherits design complexity from the f(x) Protocol model.

The protocol is non-custodial in the usual DeFi sense, as users connect a wallet and interact with contracts. The project does not mention hacks or incidents. The very low listed TVL and the lack of active markets are the main warnings, since a thinly used protocol can have weak liquidity for pegged tokens. This review is research-based and is not financial advice.

6 steps

How to get started with Harbor

  1. 1

Read the official docs and the Sherlock audit materials linked from the app.

  2. 2

Check that the app shows active markets, since the homepage currently reports none matching the filters.

  3. 3

Connect a compatible wallet on Ethereum or MegaETH using the Connect button.

  4. 4

Review the collateral type and the token you would mint, haTOKEN or hsTOKEN, and understand the peg and rebalancing risks.

  5. 5

Start with a small amount you can afford to lose and review the fee preview before signing.

  6. 6

If you hold archived-market positions, use the withdraw or redeem options, which remain available.

Who Harbor is for

Harbor is for experienced DeFi users who understand synthetic assets, stability pools and rebalancing leverage, and who want exposure to the f(x) Protocol design. It is not suited to beginners or to anyone who needs deep, active liquidity today.

Harbor FAQs

What is Harbor Finance?

Harbor Finance is a friendly fork of f(x) Protocol, refactored to support more assets. Users deposit yield-bearing collateral to mint pegged haTOKENS or leveraged hsTOKENS, and the pitch is leverage without liquidation.

Does Harbor have a token?

Public sources list a token called TIDE, and the app has a Tide section in its menu. Public sources give no supply, distribution or utility details, so check the official docs before drawing conclusions.

Which blockchains does Harbor support?

DefiLlama lists Harbor on Ethereum and MegaETH. The tracker shows TVL of about 1 USD, which suggests very little active capital.

Is Harbor audited?

The homepage lists two audits on the tracker and states the protocol is audited by Sherlock. An audit reduces but does not remove smart-contract risk, and the project does not include the audit reports themselves.

Can I still deposit into Harbor?

The app currently shows the message that no Earn markets match the filters, plus four archived markets with new deposits disabled. Withdrawals and redeems remain available on those archived markets according to the page text.

Is Harbor safe for beginners?

Harbor is aimed at users who already understand synthetic assets and stability pools. Pegged tokens and rebalancing leverage carry real risks, and this is not financial advice.
