Alchemix V3 Review 2026: Self-Repaying Loans at Up to 90% LTV

Alchemix V3 is the latest version of a DeFi protocol that offers self-repaying loans against ETH or USDC, with borrowing up to 90% LTV and no stated interest. Its mechanics are more complex than a standard lending market, and the version is new.

Our verdict on Alchemix V3

7.2/10

Alchemix V3 suits experienced DeFi users who want to borrow against ETH or USDC without selling, and who understand yield-based repayment. Its main strength is the combination of 0% interest loans, fixed-yield Transmuter redemptions and a managed yield option. The main caveat is complexity and a short track record for V3: repayment depends on strategy yield, peg stability matters, and smart-contract risk remains. Start small and read the audits first.

What is Alchemix V3?

Alchemix V3 is the newest version of Alchemix, a DeFi protocol that creates synthetic tokens representing the future yield of a deposit. Users deposit ETH or USDC and can borrow against it without selling, while the collateral continues to earn yield. DefiLlama files it under Synthetics.

The homepage headline is a self-repaying loan with up to 90% LTV and 0% interest. It also offers fixed-yield redemptions through the Transmuter and a managed yield portfolio called the MYT.

DefiLlama shows about $40.7 million in TVL across Ethereum, Optimism, Base and Arbitrum, with a 7-day change of 3.6%. The V3 listing dates from April 2026, although the Alchemix brand has operated since 2020 according to the site footer. The protocol token is ALCX.

How Alchemix V3 works

Alchemix lets users deposit ETH or USDC as collateral and borrow synthetic tokens, called alAssets, against it. The deposit is put to work in yield strategies, and the yield is used to pay down the loan over time. The homepage describes this as a self-repaying loan with 0% interest.

V3 adds a redemption engine based on earmarking. When a redemption is started, the matching debt is earmarked and settles after a fixed delay. When the redemption matures, the alAsset supply shrinks, which supports the peg near 1.00. Because collateral is not redeemed immediately, the homepage says positions can keep earning yield, which is what allows loans of up to 90% LTV.

The Transmuter is the other side of the system. Users can buy alAssets below peg and transmute them 1:1 into ETH or USDC after a set time, giving a fixed return known in advance. The MYT is a separate deposit option that spreads funds across DAO-curated yield strategies.

6 features

Key features

01

Alchemist self-repaying loans

Borrow alAssets against ETH or USDC collateral, up to 90% LTV according to the homepage, while the collateral keeps earning yield.

02

Transmuter fixed yield

Deposit today and redeem on a set date for a return known in advance. Users can buy alAssets below peg and redeem 1:1 into ETH or USDC.

03

MYT yield portfolio

A pool of DAO-curated yield strategies with no lock-ups, aimed at users who want mixed yield from one deposit.

04

Earmarking redemption engine

Redemptions are earmarked and settle after a fixed delay. When they mature, alAsset supply shrinks, which pushes the peg toward 1.00.

05

Multiple user paths

The ecosystem is pitched to yield maximisers, fixed-rate seekers, set-and-forget users and treasury managers, with low-LTV options for those who want the v2 style experience.

06

Onboarding for large depositors

Users depositing $100,000 or more can request a personalised onboarding session with a team member.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Loans are advertised at 0% interest, with collateral that keeps earning yield and repays debt.
  • Fixed-date Transmuter redemptions let users know their return before committing.
  • Offers options for different risk levels, from low LTV set-and-forget loans to up to 90% LTV.
  • Runs on four chains: Ethereum, Optimism, Base and Arbitrum.
  • Open-source code, independent audits and documentation are linked from the homepage.
  • The Alchemix brand dates back to 2020, and about $40.7 million TVL is reported on DefiLlama.

Watch out for

  • The 90% LTV ceiling is only available through the new redemption design, and the project does not explain how liquidation or peg stress is handled beyond the homepage claims.
  • Loan repayment depends on yield from underlying strategies, so a drop in yield slows or stops self-repayment.
  • The 'no market liquidation risk' claim covers market price liquidations only; smart-contract, strategy and peg risks remain.
  • Several moving parts (Alchemist, Transmuter, MYT, earmarking) make it harder for newcomers to understand than a basic lending market.
  • V3 was only listed on DefiLlama in April 2026, so it has a short track record.
  • Only two audits are listed in the data, and their scope and findings are not public.

Alchemix V3 fees

The homepage advertises 0% interest on loans. Other fees, such as protocol fees on yield, redemption or strategy management, are not stated publicly.

Users would see fee and cost details in the app and documentation before confirming a transaction. Network gas fees on Ethereum, Optimism, Base or Arbitrum apply to any on-chain action.

Is Alchemix V3 safe?

DefiLlama lists two audits for the project, and the homepage points to audits, open-source code and risk controls. The project does not name the auditors or detail findings, so readers should read the audit reports themselves. The homepage footer states that all rights are reserved, no guarantees are given, and DeFi tools should be used at your own risk.

The main risks are smart-contract bugs, losses or underperformance in the underlying yield strategies, alAsset de-pegging, and the newness of the V3 design. The claim of no market liquidation risk does not cover those. The project does not describe custody beyond on-chain smart contracts or any past incidents, and they do not mention regulatory status.

6 steps

How to get started with Alchemix V3

  1. 1

Read the documentation and audit pages to understand the Alchemist, Transmuter and MYT before depositing.

  2. 2

Check that using DeFi protocols is permitted where you live and review the Terms of Service.

  3. 3

Connect a compatible wallet to the app on a supported chain: Ethereum, Optimism, Base or Arbitrum.

  4. 4

Choose a path: borrow against ETH or USDC, lock in fixed yield through the Transmuter, or deposit into the MYT.

  5. 5

If borrowing, start with a low LTV so that yield can repay debt and leave a safety margin.

  6. 6

Monitor your position and the alAsset peg on the dashboard.

Who Alchemix V3 is for

Alchemix V3 is for DeFi users who hold ETH or USDC and want liquidity without selling, plus fixed-rate seekers and DAO treasury managers. It is less suitable for beginners who want simple lending or anyone who cannot accept smart-contract and peg risk.

Alchemix V3 FAQs

What is a self-repaying loan on Alchemix?

A self-repaying loan is a loan whose debt is paid down by the yield that your deposited collateral earns. The homepage describes it as borrowing against future yield while the collateral keeps earning in the background.

How much can you borrow on Alchemix V3?

The homepage says users can borrow up to 90% LTV at 0% interest. The project does not give protocol fees, so check the app and documentation for any charges before borrowing.

Can you be liquidated on Alchemix V3?

The homepage states there is no market liquidation risk. That does not remove other risks such as smart-contract bugs, strategy losses, or alAsset peg problems, so it is not a risk-free product.

What does the Transmuter do?

The Transmuter lets users buy alAssets below peg and redeem them 1:1 for ETH or USDC on a set date, giving a yield that is known in advance. Redemptions mature after a fixed period.

What is the MYT?

MYT is described as a portfolio of DAO-curated yield strategies where users deposit once and earn without lock-ups. The project does not list the specific strategies.

Which chains does Alchemix V3 support?

DefiLlama lists Ethereum, Optimism, Base and Arbitrum. The token listed for the project is ALCX.
