Gravita Protocol Review 2026: ETH-Centric Borrowing Against LSTs

Gravita Protocol is an ETH-centric borrowing protocol where users lock liquid staking tokens and yield-bearing assets to mint the GRAI debt token. It is live on several chains but holds a small amount of value, so treat it as a niche, higher-risk CDP.

Our verdict on Gravita Protocol

5.4/10

Gravita Protocol suits experienced DeFi users who hold liquid staking tokens and want to borrow GRAI without selling them. Its main strength is a focused design around LST and yield-bearing collateral, available on several Ethereum-based networks. The main caveat is size: roughly $394,000 in TVL is small, the homepage and fee details could not be verified here, and collateral carries staking and depeg risk. Read the audits and documentation, and keep borrowing conservative.

What is Gravita Protocol?

Gravita Protocol describes itself as an ETH-centric borrowing protocol for liquid staking tokens (LSTs) and yield-generating assets. GRAI is its debt token, and its motto is "fuelling decentralization". DefiLlama lists it in the CDP category, tracked since May 2023.

The protocol is deployed on Ethereum, Optimism, Arbitrum, zkSync Era, Linea, Polygon zkEVM and Mantle. DefiLlama shows about $394,000 in total value locked, up 4.0% over the past week, and lists two audits.

The homepage could not be fetched for this review, so details on collateral types, ratios, fees and current activity come only from DefiLlama and search snippets. Price pages for GRAI show inconsistent data, so readers should verify token details on official channels.

How Gravita Protocol works

Gravita is a collateralized debt position (CDP) protocol. A user deposits an approved asset, such as a liquid staking token, into a smart contract and can then borrow GRAI against it. The loan must stay over-collateralized, so the collateral is worth more than the debt.

If the collateral value falls too far, the position can be liquidated to protect the system. A Medium article from the project describes a Stability Pool as part of this design, which in similar protocols is a pool of the debt token used to absorb liquidated debt. The exact rules for Gravita are not public, so check the documentation.

Because the collateral is yield-bearing, borrowers can keep exposure to staking rewards while accessing liquidity in GRAI. The tradeoff is added risk from the underlying staking protocol and from price differences between the LST and ETH.

6 features

Key features

01

LST-focused collateral

Gravita focuses on liquid staking tokens and yield-generating assets as collateral, rather than a broad range of tokens.

02

GRAI debt token

Borrowers mint GRAI, the platform's debt token, against their deposited collateral.

03

Stability Pool

A Medium article describes a Stability Pool and its role in the protocol. The project does not give its exact mechanics.

04

Multi-chain deployment

The protocol is listed on seven chains, including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, zkSync Era, Linea, Polygon zkEVM and Mantle.

05

Simple network switching

A Gravita post says switching to Arbitrum is done by toggling a button on the front-end.

06

Audits and track record

DefiLlama lists two audits for the protocol and it has been tracked since May 2023.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Clear niche: borrowing against LSTs and yield-bearing ETH assets
  • Deployed across seven chains, including major Ethereum layer 2s
  • Two audits listed on DefiLlama
  • Tracked since 2023, so it has some operating history
  • Project publishes educational material, such as a Stability Pool explainer

Watch out for

  • Total value locked is only about $394,000, which is small for a lending protocol and may mean thin liquidity
  • Homepage could not be fetched, so documentation, parameters and current fees could not be checked
  • Collateral is limited to LSTs and yield-generating assets, so it carries staking and depeg risk on top of smart-contract risk
  • Spread across seven chains, which can split liquidity and add bridging risk
  • No governance or protocol token is listed on DefiLlama, so the incentive and governance model is unclear
  • Only two audits are listed, with no detail on scope or findings

Gravita Protocol fees

Fees are not published publicly available for this review, and the homepage could not be fetched. Borrowing protocols of this type usually charge some combination of borrowing, issuance or redemption fees, but the exact Gravita figures are not confirmed here.

Users should check the borrow interface and official documentation for current rates, minimum debt and collateral ratios before opening a position. Network gas costs on each chain are separate.

Is Gravita Protocol safe?

DefiLlama lists two audits, but the auditors, scope and findings are not public. Users deposit collateral into smart contracts, so bugs, oracle failures or a depeg of an LST could cause liquidations or losses. A small TVL can also mean less liquidity when positions need to be closed or liquidated.

The project does not describe custody, admin keys, upgradeability, regulatory status or past incidents. Check these in the documentation and audit reports before depositing. This review is research-based and does not involve hands-on testing. This is not financial advice.

How to get started with Gravita Protocol

  1. 1

Find the official Gravita Protocol site through its verified social accounts, such as the X account gravitaprotocol, rather than search ads.

  2. 2

Read the documentation and audit reports to understand collateral ratios, liquidations and fees.

  3. 3

Connect a compatible wallet and select the network you want to use, such as Ethereum or Arbitrum.

  4. 4

Deposit a supported LST or yield-generating asset as collateral.

  5. 5

Borrow GRAI conservatively, leaving a wide buffer above the minimum collateral ratio.

  6. 6

Monitor your position and repay GRAI to reclaim your collateral when you are done.

Who Gravita Protocol is for

Gravita is for experienced DeFi users who hold LSTs or similar yield-bearing ETH assets and want to borrow against them while keeping their staking exposure. It is less suitable for beginners or anyone who needs deep liquidity or a long track record at scale.

Gravita Protocol FAQs

What is Gravita Protocol?

Gravita Protocol is a borrowing protocol focused on ETH-based collateral, specifically liquid staking tokens (LSTs) and yield-generating assets. Users borrow GRAI, the platform's debt token, against that collateral.

What is GRAI?

GRAI is the debt token of the platform. It is minted when a user borrows against collateral and is meant to be repaid to get the collateral back. The project does not give details of its peg mechanism, so check the official documentation before relying on it.

Which chains does Gravita support?

DefiLlama lists Gravita on Ethereum, Optimism, Arbitrum, zkSync Era, Linea, Polygon zkEVM and Mantle. A Medium post describes reaching Arbitrum by toggling a network option in the Gravita front-end.

How much value is locked in Gravita?

DefiLlama shows about $394,191 in TVL, up 4.0% over seven days. That is a small figure, so liquidity and market depth may be limited.

Has Gravita been audited?

DefiLlama lists two audits, but the project does not say who performed them or what they found. An audit lowers risk but does not remove it, so read the reports and size positions carefully.

Does Gravita have a governance token?

DefiLlama shows no governance token for the protocol. GRAI is the debt token, not a governance or investment token. Anything described as a Gravita token on price sites should be verified against official sources.
