Defi Swap Review 2026: Crypto.com's Uniswap V2 Fork

Crypto.com DeFi Swap is an automated market maker forked from Uniswap V2, built to swap tokens and farm rewards with CRO. Its liquidity is small, so it suits low-stakes use better than large trades.

Our verdict on Defi Swap

5.5/10

Defi Swap is a plain Uniswap V2-style exchange from Crypto.com, linked to the CRO token and the Cronos ecosystem. It suits CRO holders and small-scale swappers who want a non-custodial option from a known brand. Its main strength is the simple, proven design and a recognizable operator. The main caveat is shallow liquidity of about $1 million, along with unpublished fee and audit details. Liquidity providers should weigh impermanent loss and contract risk before depositing.

What is Defi Swap?

Defi Swap, branded Crypto.com DeFi Swap, is a decentralized exchange from Crypto.com. It is described as a fork of Uniswap V2, aimed at swapping and farming DeFi tokens. A September 2020 article reported its deployment as an automated market maker powered by the CRO token.

The DEX listing shows roughly $1.03 million in total value locked, with a 7-day change of about 1.1 percent, and two audits listed. The tracked deployment is on Ethereum, and the project's analytics pages also refer to the Cronos PoS chain. A promotional post from April 2025 suggests the protocol is still being marketed.

It is separate from the main Crypto.com app and exchange, which are custodial and require identity verification. DeFi Swap is non-custodial, with users trading from their own wallets. The Crypto.com site presents its onchain wallet as the route into DeFi products.

How Defi Swap works

DeFi Swap is an automated market maker. Instead of matching buyers and sellers, it holds pools of two tokens. A formula keeps the pool balanced, so the price shifts as traders swap one token for the other. This is the constant-product design that Uniswap V2 introduced, and DeFi Swap is a fork of it.

Liquidity providers fund the pools by depositing both tokens in a pair. In return they receive pool shares and, in standard V2 designs, a cut of trading fees. DeFi Swap is also described as a place to farm, where extra rewards linked to the CRO token can be paid to providers. The exact reward terms are not in the reviewed material.

The risks are the usual ones for this model. If the prices of the two tokens diverge, providers can end up with less value than if they had simply held the tokens, which is called impermanent loss. Thin pools also mean larger slippage for traders.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Backed by Crypto.com, a large and well-known crypto company
  • Built on the Uniswap V2 model, which is simple and widely understood
  • Two audits are listed for the protocol
  • Non-custodial swaps from your own wallet
  • Ties into CRO, giving existing CRO holders a use for the token

Watch out for

  • Total value locked is only about $1 million, so large swaps can move prices a lot
  • It is a Uniswap V2 fork, so it lacks concentrated liquidity and other newer AMM features
  • The project does not publish a clear fee schedule or audit details on the pages reviewed
  • Liquidity providers face impermanent loss and smart-contract risk
  • Farming rewards depend on the CRO token, whose price can swing sharply

Defi Swap fees

The reviewed sources do not publish a fee schedule for DeFi Swap. Pair-level pages in the swap analytics section are where users would look for pool details, and the interface should show estimated costs before a swap is confirmed.

On top of any protocol fee, every transaction costs network gas. On Ethereum this can be significant for small trades. Slippage matters too, because pools with about $1 million in total value can move noticeably on mid-sized orders.

Is Defi Swap safe?

The listing data shows two audits, but the auditors, dates and findings are not given in the sources reviewed, so readers should look for the reports themselves. Using a Uniswap V2 fork reduces some code risk, since the base design has been tested for years, though any modification or deployment can introduce bugs.

Swaps are non-custodial, so funds stay in your wallet until you trade, but liquidity providers deposit into smart contracts and carry contract risk. The Crypto.com exchange and app are described as regulated in the US, but that does not apply to the on-chain DeFi Swap contracts. No hack or shutdown is mentioned in the reviewed material.

6 steps

How to get started with Defi Swap

  1. 1

Set up a self-custodial wallet that supports the network you plan to use, and keep a small amount of the native token for gas.

  2. 2

Open the DeFi Swap interface from the official Crypto.com site and connect your wallet.

  3. 3

Pick the two tokens you want to swap and review the quoted price, slippage and network fee.

  4. 4

Start with a small test trade to confirm the route and the final amount received.

  5. 5

If you want to provide liquidity, review the pair's pool data and the risk of impermanent loss first.

  6. 6

Check the audit information and any reward terms before depositing larger amounts.

Who Defi Swap is for

DeFi Swap fits users who already hold CRO or use the Crypto.com onchain tools and want a basic token swap or small farming position. It is less suited to traders moving large amounts, who would face slippage in thin pools, or to anyone who wants the newest AMM features.

Defi Swap FAQs

What is Crypto.com DeFi Swap?

It is a decentralized exchange run by Crypto.com, forked from Uniswap V2. Users swap tokens against liquidity pools and can supply liquidity to farm rewards. It is separate from the centralized Crypto.com app and exchange.

Is DeFi Swap a Uniswap fork?

The listing describes it as a Uniswap V2 fork, which means constant-product liquidity pools. Its dedicated analytics pages refer to the Cronos PoS chain, while the tracked TVL is attributed to Ethereum. Check the app for which networks and pairs are currently live.

What are the fees on DeFi Swap?

The reviewed sources do not publish a fee schedule. Pair pages in the swap interface are where users would see pool details. Network gas fees also apply to every swap, and they vary by chain.

What token does DeFi Swap use?

The CRO token is tied to the Crypto.com ecosystem and is associated with DeFi Swap in the listing data. Promotional material describes yields paid through the protocol, but the exact reward mechanics are not detailed in the reviewed material.

Is DeFi Swap audited?

The DEX listing shows two audits, but the auditors and reports are not named in the sources reviewed. As with any liquidity pool, smart-contract bugs remain possible. Read the audit reports before depositing meaningful funds.

Do I need KYC to use it?

Swapping through a self-custodial wallet does not require a Crypto.com exchange account. The Crypto.com app and exchange do require identity verification, and those are separate products. Rules can depend on your country, so check local requirements.
