Conic Review 2026: Curve Omnipools That Shut Down

Conic was an Ethereum DeFi platform that let liquidity providers spread a single asset across several Curve pools. It shut down in 2025, more than a year after exploits that cost about $3 million.

Our verdict on Conic

3.0/10

Conic is mainly of historical interest. It offered a straightforward way to spread one asset across several Curve pools, and its V2 work was audited. But exploits of about $3 million and a collapse in deposits ended the project. It is not a place to deposit funds today. Readers studying DeFi risk can learn from its oracle-manipulation exposure and the audit's warnings about withdrawal edge cases.

What is Conic?

Conic Finance was a DeFi platform on Ethereum built for liquidity providers who wanted exposure to several Curve pools at once. Its main product was the Conic Omnipool, which allocated one asset across multiple Curve pools according to protocol-controlled weights.

The project is no longer operating. A March 2025 report said Conic shut down more than a year after exploits that cost roughly $3 million. Total value locked fell from about $156 million before the hack to under $600,000.

The team had raised $1 million from Curve founder Michael Egorov, according to a project post. It later released V2, which added LAMs, bonding, platform fees and security improvements, and commissioned a ChainSecurity audit of the crypto pool update. Its token, CNC, has a listed max supply of 10 million.

How Conic works

Curve is a decentralised exchange built around pools of similar assets, and liquidity providers earn trading fees and rewards. Conic sat on top of Curve. A user deposited one asset into a Conic Omnipool, and the protocol spread that deposit across several Curve pools.

How much went to each Curve pool depended on weights set by the protocol, not by the depositor. The idea was to give a liquidity provider diversified exposure without having to manage many positions.

Conic V2 added a new oracle to price LP tokens of Curve crypto pools, plus a contract deciding each Conic pool's share of CNC rewards. Accurate LP token pricing matters because manipulated prices can let attackers take value from a pool.

5 features

Key features

01

Omnipool allocation

A pool that took one asset and spread it across several Curve pools. Users did not have to pick or rebalance pools themselves.

02

Protocol-set weights

Funds were allocated to Curve pools in proportion to weights controlled by the protocol, not by individual depositors.

03

CNC reward distribution

CNC rewards were distributed to Conic pools, with a dedicated contract in V2 determining each pool's share.

04

V2 upgrades

V2 introduced LAMs, bonding, platform fees and security improvements, according to the project's published update.

05

Curve crypto pool oracle

V2 added a new oracle for pricing LP tokens of Curve crypto pools, which was the subject of a third-party audit.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Clear concept: one deposit gave diversified exposure across multiple Curve pools
  • V2 was reviewed by ChainSecurity, and the report is public
  • The team documented its V2 changes, including bonding and platform fees
  • Backed by a $1 million raise that included Curve's founder, according to a project post

Watch out for

  • The protocol has shut down, so it can no longer be used for new deposits
  • Roughly $3 million was lost in exploits, according to a news report
  • Total value locked fell from about $156 million before the hack to under $600,000
  • A third-party audit rated the V2 codebase as having an improvable level of security and flagged a withdrawal-time oracle manipulation risk
  • The CNC token trades at a fraction of a cent, with no trading volume reported by one price tracker

Conic fees

Fee details are not published in the sources reviewed beyond a mention that V2 introduced platform fees. The exact rates were set in the protocol's contracts and documentation, which a user would have checked before depositing.

Users of Curve-based strategies also pay Ethereum gas costs for deposits and withdrawals. With the protocol wound down, current fee levels are no longer relevant for new users.

Is Conic safe?

Conic suffered exploits worth about $3 million and then shut down, according to a March 2025 news report. That is the central safety fact for anyone assessing the project.

The ChainSecurity audit of the V2 crypto pool update found the code functionally correct and mostly resistant to oracle manipulation, under assumptions about Curve's price oracle and arbitrage. It also flagged edge conditions where manipulation during withdrawal could extract value, which Conic said it accepted for the time being. The auditor summarised the codebase as having an improvable level of security and noted that audits are time-boxed and cannot find every flaw.

Smart-contract and oracle risk are inherent to DeFi, and funds sat in contracts rather than with a custodian. The project does not publish any regulatory status.

5 steps

How to get started with Conic

  1. 1

Confirm the protocol's status first: it has shut down, so new deposits are not possible or advisable.

  2. 2

If you still hold a position or CNC, look for official wind-down or withdrawal instructions from the project's own channels.

  3. 3

Only use a site you have reached through official channels, since lookalike sites are common after a shutdown.

  4. 4

Connect a wallet you control and check every transaction before signing.

  5. 5

Keep records of any withdrawals for tax purposes.

Who Conic is for

Conic suits no one as an active platform because it has shut down. It is relevant to former liquidity providers and CNC holders looking for context, and to researchers studying how Curve-based aggregation and oracle risk played out.

Conic FAQs

What was Conic Finance?

Conic Finance was a platform for liquidity providers who wanted exposure to several Curve pools without managing each one. Users deposited into an Omnipool, which allocated funds across Curve pools using weights set by the protocol.

Is Conic Finance shut down?

A March 2025 news report said Conic shut down more than a year after exploits totalling about $3 million. It reported that deposits fell from $156 million before the hack to under $600,000.

What was a Conic Omnipool?

Conic Omnipools allocated liquidity in a single asset across multiple Curve pools. Protocol-controlled weights decided how much went to each pool, so a depositor held one position with diversified Curve exposure.

What is the CNC token?

CNC was the protocol's token, used for rewards and governance-style mechanics such as bonding in V2. One price tracker lists a max supply of 10 million CNC and a price near $0.0008, with no meaningful 24-hour volume.

Was Conic audited?

ChainSecurity audited the V2 crypto pool update, covering a new oracle for pricing Curve crypto-pool LP tokens and a contract for splitting CNC rewards. The audit found the code functionally correct but noted edge cases where oracle manipulation could extract value during withdrawal.

Can I still use Conic?

Public sources point to a wind-down, with almost all deposits gone. Anyone with a remaining position or CNC should check official project announcements and be wary of lookalike sites.
