BetterBank Review 2026: PulseChain Lending and Seigniorage Protocol
BetterBank is a PulseChain protocol that combines lending with seigniorage-style tokens. It launched in August 2025 and was exploited for roughly $5M within days, so treat it as high risk.

Our verdict on BetterBank
3.2/10BetterBank is an experimental PulseChain protocol mixing lending with seigniorage tokens. Its strongest point is a clear concept and published contract addresses. The main caveat is the August 2025 exploit of about $5M and a tracked TVL of $0 now. It suits only experienced PulseChain users who accept total-loss risk and who have verified the project's current status and recovery plans. Newcomers and anyone wanting predictable lending yield should look at more established, battle-tested lending markets instead.

What is BetterBank?
BetterBank is a decentralised finance protocol on PulseChain that describes itself as combining seigniorage and lending. Users can deposit assets, borrow against collateral and interact with a set of protocol tokens, including the ESTEEM token tracked in market data.
The project announced its app as fully live in August 2025. Posts from its X account said vaults drew more than $2M in 15 minutes and more than $3M in six hours. DefiLlama lists it from 20 August 2025.
A few days later, on or around 27 August 2025, one news write-up reported that the BetterBank contract on PulseChain had been exploited, with about $5M stolen and swapped into roughly 215 ETH. The project's own posts referred to an exploit situation, told holders not to buy the Favor tokens because it would be a loss, and promised updates as it worked to resolve the issue.
Tracked TVL is now $0. The sources reviewed do not say whether users were compensated or whether the protocol has relaunched. The project continued to post about its custom contracts in October 2025.
How BetterBank works
BetterBank combines two DeFi ideas. The lending side works like a money market: users deposit assets into pools, and borrowers post collateral to take loans. Interest paid by borrowers is the source of yield for depositors.
The seigniorage side uses protocol-issued tokens whose supply is adjusted by the system to try to keep prices near a target. Newer tokens are minted when demand is high and supply is reduced or incentives change when demand falls. Designs like this depend on continuing market demand and have a mixed record across crypto.
All of this is run by smart contracts on PulseChain. That means no company holds user funds in the traditional sense, but it also means a bug in the contracts can put every deposit at risk, as the August 2025 exploit showed.
5 features
Key features
01
Lending and borrowing
Users deposit assets to earn yield and can borrow against collateral, in the style of a money market on PulseChain.
02
Seigniorage mechanics
The protocol pairs lending with seigniorage tokens, a design where supply expands and contracts around a target price. The Favor tokens belong to this part of the system.
03
Published contract addresses
The project's materials mention liquidity protection, yield optimisation and on-chain mechanics, and it publishes a page of token, LP, LP oracle and protocol contract addresses.
04
Vault deposits
Deposits and vaults were announced as live at launch, with early deposits the project put at more than $3M within six hours.
05
Listed audits
Two audits are listed in tracking data, though the auditors and findings are not detailed in the sources reviewed.
Pros and cons
What we like
- Clear concept: a lending market paired with seigniorage tokens on PulseChain
- Publishes a list of its token, LP, LP oracle and protocol contracts, which helps verification
- Two audits are listed in tracking data
- Acknowledged the exploit publicly and said it would post updates
- Early deposit figures show real initial demand from PulseChain users
Watch out for
- A contract exploit in August 2025 reportedly drained about $5M, shortly after the protocol went live
- Tracked total value locked is currently $0, so there is no visible liquidity to lend against or borrow from
- Seigniorage-style token designs can lose their peg or value quickly, and the project's own posts warn against buying its Favor tokens during the incident
- Audit reports are listed but did not prevent the exploit, and their scope is not described
- Team, fee schedule and recovery or compensation plan are not published in the sources reviewed
- Runs only on PulseChain, which limits tooling, liquidity and exit options
BetterBank fees
BetterBank does not publish a fee schedule in the sources reviewed. Interest rates, borrowing costs, protocol fees and any token-related charges would be visible inside the app before a transaction is confirmed.
On PulseChain, users also pay network gas fees in the chain's native token on every transaction. Because the protocol was exploited and its liquidity has largely disappeared, costs matter less than whether funds can be recovered or the protocol relaunched.
Is BetterBank safe?
The main safety fact is the August 2025 exploit. One news write-up reports about $5M stolen from the BetterBank contract on PulseChain and converted into roughly 215 ETH. The project's own posts confirm an exploit situation. Funds taken in exploits like this are rarely recovered in full.
Two audits are listed, but the auditors and scope are not described, and an audit does not guarantee safety. The team, any insurance or compensation plan, and the current state of the contracts are not published in the sources reviewed. Smart-contract risk, token-design risk and the narrow PulseChain ecosystem all apply. Only deposit what you can afford to lose entirely, and verify everything through the project's official channels, since impersonation and fake apps are common after incidents.
5 steps
How to get started with BetterBank
- 1
Check the project's latest official posts first to see whether the app is operating normally after the August 2025 exploit.
- 2
Confirm the app address only through the project's official social account, and compare any contract addresses against the project's published contract list.
- 3
Set up a wallet that supports PulseChain and hold a small amount of the native token for gas.
- 4
Read the available audit documentation and understand how the seigniorage tokens and collateral rules work before depositing.
- 5
If you proceed, start with an amount you can afford to lose entirely and check the app's displayed rates and fees before each transaction.
Who BetterBank is for
BetterBank suits experienced PulseChain users who understand seigniorage token mechanics and accept the risk of losing everything. It is not a good fit for beginners, anyone looking for stable lending yield, or users who want a proven security record.
BetterBank FAQs
What is BetterBank?
BetterBank is a DeFi protocol on PulseChain that combines lending and borrowing with a seigniorage mechanism. Its own description presents it as a bank-like protocol run on-chain rather than by a company.
Was BetterBank hacked?
Reports from August 2025 say the BetterBank contract on PulseChain was exploited and about $5M was stolen, then swapped into roughly 215 ETH. The project's posts on X acknowledged an exploit situation and said further updates would follow as it worked to resolve it.
What happened to BetterBank's TVL?
The project's own social posts say the vaults opened with more than $2M deposited in 15 minutes and more than $3M in six hours. The tracked TVL is now $0, which suggests funds are no longer deposited at meaningful scale.
Which blockchain and token does BetterBank use?
BetterBank runs on PulseChain. DefiLlama tracks its token as ESTEEM, and the project also refers to Favor tokens, which are part of its seigniorage design.
Is BetterBank safe to use?
Public sources list two audits, but the audit firms and scope are not described, and an exploit still occurred. Anyone considering the protocol should treat it as high risk, never deposit more than they can lose, and check the project's latest official announcements first.
What fees does BetterBank charge?
A fee schedule is not published in the sources reviewed. Any fees would be shown inside the app at the point of depositing, borrowing or swapping.
