Our verdict on Alien Base
7.0/10Alien Base suits active Base users who want swaps, limit and DCA orders, concentrated liquidity and ALB staking in a single app. Its main strength is the breadth of tools together with a transparent, itemized fee table and documented audit coverage. The main caveat is that much of the codebase relies on audits of forked protocols, Mothership is still unaudited, and several earlier products were discontinued. Treat it as a mature but evolving DEX, size positions carefully, and verify the migrated ALB contract before interacting.

What is Alien Base?
Alien Base is a decentralized exchange native to the Base network. It launched on August 8, 2023, and its documentation reports about $2.86 billion in lifetime swap volume. The project describes itself as a meta-DEX that combines trading, liquidity provision and token launching in one interface.
On the trading side, it offers a terminal with swaps, limit orders, take profit, stop loss, trailing stops and DCA orders. Liquidity providers can use concentrated-liquidity V3 pools or strategy vaults. The ALB token can be locked as esALB or govALB for rewards, Real Yield in WETH and governance votes.
The project has also retired several products. Predictions and Lottery are listed as discontinued, Carbon Orders, Area 51 and StableSwap as deprecated, and a B3 multi-chain expansion as shelved. ALB itself has moved to a new contract, and old tokens can be swapped 1:1 with no deadline or fee. The documentation does not name team members in the material reviewed here.
How Alien Base works
Alien Base is a decentralized exchange on Base. You connect a wallet and trade directly from it, with no account or custody by the platform. Swaps run through the Epsilon Router, which acts as both an on-chain order engine and a meta-aggregator that can source liquidity from several places.
Liquidity providers deposit token pairs into pools. In V3 concentrated-liquidity pools they choose a price range, which can earn more fees per dollar but stops earning if the price moves out of range. Vaults, built on Bunni, manage positions with a strategy. Pool fees go half to liquidity providers and half to esALB stakers.
The ALB token ties it together. Converting ALB to esALB locks it in a non-transferable form that earns ALB rewards and WETH Real Yield from protocol fees and gives voting power. govALB, with a 2-year lock, multiplies voting power by ten. Limit, stop and DCA orders are triggered by keepers, which collect a fee for executing them.

Pros and cons
What we like
- Broad toolset on one Base-native app: swaps, limit, stop, trailing and DCA orders
- Detailed public fee table with per-product rates and where each fee goes
- Real Yield in WETH is paid to esALB stakers from protocol fees
- Epsilon Router is reported as audited by Hexens, and the docs break down audit coverage by contract
- No buy or sell taxes on the ALB token, according to the docs
- Open documentation with governance process, contract list and troubleshooting guides
Watch out for
- Most native contracts rely on audits of the protocols they were forked from rather than their own audits
- Mothership is still pre-launch with its audit upcoming, so it is not yet a proven product
- Several earlier products (predictions, lottery, Carbon orders, StableSwap, B3 multi-chain) were discontinued, deprecated or shelved
- ALB was migrated to a new contract, so holders of the old token must act and should check they use the correct address
- Fee structure is layered across pool fees, router fees and keeper fees, which makes the total cost of advanced orders harder to estimate
- Liquidity is limited to Base, and concentrated-liquidity positions can fall out of range and stop earning
Alien Base fees
Alien Base publishes a detailed fee table. V2 swaps charge a 0.16% pool fee, split 50% to liquidity providers and 50% to esALB stakers. V3 pools use fee tiers of 0.01%, 0.02%, 0.03%, 0.04%, 0.075%, 0.30% and 1.00%, with the same 50/50 split. The Epsilon Router adds a flat 0.05% protocol fee on swaps, paid to esALB stakers.
Advanced orders add keeper fees by token class (stables, blue chips, other): limit and take-profit orders 0.01% / 0.05% / 0.10%, stop loss, trailing stop and trigger DCA 0.10% / 0.20% / 0.45%, and regular DCA 0.01% / 0.10% / 0.20%, each plus the 0.05% protocol fee. The Token Generator costs 0.015 ETH per token mint. The docs state there are no buy or sell taxes on ALB. Normal Base network gas applies to all transactions.
Is Alien Base safe?
Alien Base is non-custodial: you trade from your own wallet, so the main risks are smart-contract bugs, wallet security and phishing. The docs split contracts into audited, audit upcoming and inherited audits. The Epsilon Router is reported as audited by Hexens. Mothership's audit is still upcoming. Other native contracts, including the V2 factory and router, farm, esALB contracts and Token Generator, rely on audits of the upstream protocols they fork, which does not cover the project's own changes.
The ALB token migration to a new contract is a point of caution. Verify contract addresses in the official docs and use only the documented migration route. The Token Generator lets anyone launch tokens, so tokens traded on any DEX can be scams or low-liquidity assets. The project does not publish a regulatory licence in the material reviewed. DeFi trading carries a risk of loss, and you should check the rules that apply where you live.
6 steps
How to get started with Alien Base
- 1
Set up a Base-compatible wallet and fund it with ETH on Base for gas, bridging from another chain if needed.
- 2
Open the Alien Base app and connect your wallet, checking that the site address matches the one in the official documentation.
- 3
If you hold old ALB or esALB, use the migration page to swap them 1:1 for the new tokens before doing anything else.
- 4
Start with a small swap in the trading terminal to see quotes, fees and slippage before using limit or DCA orders.
- 5
To provide liquidity, pick a V3 pool or vault, choose a price range, and monitor whether your position stays in range.
- 6
To stake, convert ALB to esALB and read the unstaking rules first, since exits are staged over 30 to 60 days.
Who Alien Base is for
Alien Base is for traders and liquidity providers who operate on Base and want advanced order types, concentrated-liquidity pools and a staking model that pays fee revenue in WETH. It also suits builders who want to launch a token from a template. It is less suited to users who need multi-chain access or who want every contract independently audited.
Alien Base FAQs
What is Alien Base?
Alien Base is a decentralized exchange built for the Base network, described in its documentation as a meta-DEX. It combines swaps, advanced order types, liquidity provision, staking and a token generator in one interface. It launched on August 8, 2023.
Which blockchain does Alien Base run on?
Alien Base is native to Base (chain ID 8453). The docs also list a shelved multi-chain plan on B3, so Base is the only supported network for the live product.
Is Alien Base audited?
The Epsilon Router order engine is reported as audited by Hexens. Mothership's audit is upcoming. Other native contracts rely on audits of the protocols they fork, such as Uniswap, PancakeSwap, Bunni and Bancor Carbon. Audits reduce risk but do not remove it.
What are the fees on Alien Base?
V2 swaps carry a 0.16% pool fee. V3 pools use tiers from 0.01% to 1.00%. The Epsilon Router adds a flat 0.05% protocol fee on swaps, and advanced orders add keeper fees that vary by token type. The docs say there are no buy or sell taxes on the ALB token.
What is esALB and govALB?
esALB is a non-transferable, locked form of ALB that you get by converting ALB 1:1. It earns ALB rewards and Real Yield in WETH from protocol fees and gives voting power. Converting to govALB with a 2-year lock raises voting power tenfold. Exiting esALB takes a staged unstake, with 85% redeemable from day 30 and 100% at day 60.
Do I need to migrate my ALB?
Yes. The docs say ALB moved to a new contract and that old ALB and esALB can be swapped 1:1 for the new tokens through the migration page, with no deadline and no fee. Holders should follow the migration guide and confirm contract addresses in the docs before swapping.
