## What is Rocket Pool (RPL)?

Rocket Pool is a decentralized protocol for staking Ethereum (ETH). It lets ETH holders deposit into the protocol and receive rETH, a liquid staking token that represents their staked ETH and can be used in some DeFi applications. Rocket Pool also lets independent node operators run validators with 16 ETH rather than the standard 32 ETH stake for a solo validator. RPL is Rocket Pool’s own token; it is separate from both ETH and rETH. The protocol is designed to distribute staking activity across independent operators, but using it does not remove the risks of staking or of holding crypto assets. RPL is commonly described as a utility and governance token. Its value and role are not the same as the ETH staking rewards represented by rETH, so readers should check the protocol’s current rules before deciding whether either token fits their needs.

## RPL’s role and how it differs from rETH

RPL and rETH serve different purposes. A user depositing ETH through Rocket Pool receives rETH, which is intended to represent a claim on staked ETH and its accumulated staking value. RPL is the protocol token. It is used within Rocket Pool’s node-operator and governance systems, rather than serving as the liquid staking receipt for a depositor’s ETH. Node operators can earn RPL rewards, alongside commission, for participating in the protocol. The requirements and reward arrangements can change through protocol upgrades and governance, so operators should review current documentation before committing funds. Holding RPL alone does not mean that ETH has been staked on the holder’s behalf, and it does not guarantee staking income. Likewise, rETH and RPL may have different market prices and risks. Confirm the token’s contract and purpose before transferring or trading either asset.

## What is RPL used for?

RPL’s main uses are connected to the Rocket Pool protocol: it can be used by node operators as part of their participation, and it has a role in protocol governance. Operators may receive RPL rewards in addition to commission for operating validators. These features link demand for RPL to the protocol, but they do not ensure that the token will rise in value or that rewards will remain available at a particular rate. RPL is not required simply to receive rETH as a liquid staking participant; the protocol’s stated minimum deposit for liquid stakers is 0.01 ETH. That minimum and the operator setup are subject to protocol rules and possible changes. Governance participation may also require holding or using tokens under the applicable voting process. Before using RPL in a contract or governance action, check the current protocol interface and understand any lockup, collateral, or transaction requirements.

## Supply and supported networks

As of 2026-11-05, the reported circulating and total supply are both about 22.96 million RPL. No maximum supply is listed, so this figure should not be treated as a fixed cap. Supply can change over time, including through protocol mechanisms, and token holders should check current token information when making decisions. The reported market capitalization is about $34.4 million on that date; market value and trading activity can change quickly. RPL is issued on Ethereum, Arbitrum, and Polygon. Check the network and token contract carefully before sending assets, since a token on one network may not be interchangeable with the same-named asset on another without a supported transfer route. RPL is not listed as the native token of any of these chains; it is a token used in the Rocket Pool ecosystem, rather than the gas token for those networks.

## Risks and storing RPL

RPL holders face price volatility, and token prices can fall sharply or become difficult to trade. The token’s usefulness depends in part on Rocket Pool’s protocol, its governance decisions, and continuing demand for node-operator participation. Protocol or smart-contract faults, validator penalties, changes to staking rules, and network congestion can also create losses or delays. Liquid staking does not make staked ETH risk-free, and RPL rewards are not guaranteed returns. If you hold RPL, use a wallet that supports the correct network and protect the recovery phrase offline; never share it or enter it into an untrusted site. Hardware wallets can reduce exposure to online key theft, but they do not prevent mistakes such as sending tokens to the wrong network or approving a malicious contract. Check contract addresses through reliable official sources before interacting, and consider whether you can tolerate losing the amount you commit.

By the numbers

Rocket Pool in numbers

Rocket Pool (RPL) is ranked #611 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $32.4M and a price of $1.41 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($32.4M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.

The price was down 5.0% over 7 days, down 23.3% over 30 days, down 53.9% over the past year. It trades about 98% below its all-time high of $61.90, set on Apr 16, 2023.

About 22.96M RPL are in circulation. No hard maximum supply is listed, so new tokens can still be issued.

24-hour trading volume was about $772K, or 2.4% of its market cap: moderate turnover.

RPL has token contracts on 3 chains we track, including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Polygon. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

RPL is linked to Rocket Pool, which we cover in our Staking Pool rankings. See our Rocket Pool page for how the protocol works and how we score it.

RPL FAQs

What is Rocket Pool (RPL)?

RPL is Rocket Pool’s protocol token, used in node-operator participation and governance. It is different from rETH, the liquid staking token received by ETH depositors.

Is RPL the same as rETH?

No. rETH is the liquid staking token associated with deposited ETH, while RPL is Rocket Pool’s protocol token. Holding RPL by itself does not mean you have staked ETH.

Which networks support RPL?

Rocket Pool supports RPL on Ethereum, Arbitrum, and Polygon. Confirm the network and token contract before sending it, because using the wrong network can result in lost funds.

What is the supply of RPL?

As of 2026-11-05, the reported circulating and total supply were both about 22.96 million RPL. No maximum supply was listed, and supply can change over time.

How can I store RPL?

RPL can be held in a compatible wallet that supports the network where the token is located. Keep recovery phrases offline, use trusted contract details, and take care not to send tokens to an incompatible network.

What is the market cap of Rocket Pool?

As of Nov 6, 2026, Rocket Pool had a market cap of about $32.4M, ranking #611 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.

What is the all-time high of RPL?

Rocket Pool's all-time high is $61.90, reached on Apr 16, 2023. Its all-time low is $0.008847 (Aug 27, 2018). Past prices say nothing about future returns.

What is the circulating supply of RPL?

As of Nov 6, 2026, about 22.96M RPL were in circulation; no fixed maximum supply is listed.

Which blockchains is RPL on?

It has token contracts on Ethereum, Arbitrum, Polygon.
