What Nano is
Nano (XNO) is a cryptocurrency built for sending value quickly and without transaction fees. It runs on its own network rather than on Ethereum or another chain, so it is a Layer 1 coin. Its design is a block-lattice, a form of directed acyclic graph (DAG) in which every account has its own chain of blocks. Only the account owner can add to that chain, so users do not have to compete for space in a shared block.
The protocol is deliberately narrow. Its stated aim is to be a high-performance digital currency, not a general platform for apps. Although some data providers tag it as a smart contract platform, the project itself describes a simple protocol focused on payments. The original paper, then called RailBlocks, and a first beta were published in December 2014, which makes Nano one of the earliest DAG-based cryptocurrencies. The network is meant to run on low-power hardware, with no mining rigs required.
What XNO is used for
XNO is a payment and transfer coin. The project pitches it for everyday use, such as paying merchants, sending money to other people, and small transfers where a fee would be a large share of the amount. Because the protocol charges no fees, tiny payments are practical in a way they are not on many other networks.
Public material also mentions experiments and integrations such as in-game transactions and Internet of Things ideas like tracking parking spaces. Treat these as examples of what people have tried, not as proof of broad adoption. XNO does not pay for smart contract execution, and the protocol is not built around DeFi. Its role is simply to be the unit that moves between accounts.
Supply and tokenomics
Nano has a fixed supply. According to the data used here, circulating, total and maximum supply are all about 133.2 million XNO, so the supply is fully issued. There are no mining rewards, no staking rewards and no inflation schedule to wait for. Because circulating supply equals the maximum, fully diluted valuation matches market cap.
As of 2026-11-05, XNO traded at about $0.33, giving a market cap of roughly $43.7 million and a rank near 497. Reported 24-hour volume was only about $119,000, which signals thin trading. The price was down about 66% over the past year and about 1.8% over the past seven days. The all-time high was around $33.69 in early 2018, and the all-time low was about $0.026 in July 2017. These figures move constantly and are given for context only.
How the network reaches consensus
Nano reaches agreement through Open Representative Voting (ORV). Account holders choose a representative, which is a node that votes on their behalf when conflicting transactions appear. Votes are weighted by the balance delegated to each representative. It resembles proof of stake, but the project says it involves no inflationary rewards and no locking of coins, so delegating does not take your XNO out of your control.
Because each account has its own chain, a transfer involves a send block from the sender and a receive block from the recipient. The aim is fast, deterministic settlement. Running a node needs modest resources compared with mining-based networks, though representatives with a lot of delegated weight carry more influence, which is a decentralization question worth watching.
Chains, trading and holding
XNO has its own network, and the data lists no other chain on which it is issued, so you hold it in a Nano wallet rather than as a token on Ethereum. Wrapped or bridged versions may exist elsewhere, but check the details before relying on one.
Most people trade XNO on centralized exchanges, and public reporting mentions listings on platforms such as Binance and Pluang. Availability varies by country and changes over time. Liquidity is limited, as the low daily volume suggests, so larger orders can move the price and spreads may be wide. Moving XNO between exchanges and wallets is quick and free of network fees, though the sending service may have its own withdrawal rules.
History
Nano was among the first DAG cryptocurrencies, alongside projects such as Byteball and IOTA, each using a different approach to consensus. Nano's approach was balance-weighted voting on conflicting transactions. It first became known under the name RailBlocks, and later took the Nano name.
The data here gives no launch date, so none is stated. The price history shows a large peak around the start of 2018 and a long decline since, with the coin trading far below that level in 2026. The data does not list specific incidents, and this page does not cover any beyond what is stated.
Risks
XNO is a small-cap, thinly traded asset, and its price has been volatile. A fixed supply does not guarantee demand. Because there are no fees and no mining or staking rewards, there is also no built-in financial incentive for running nodes, which some critics see as a long-term sustainability question. Feeless networks can face spam, and the protocol relies on other defenses against it.
Representative concentration, exchange dependence and low liquidity add to the risk. Marketing language such as unlimited scalability should be read as a design claim, not a guarantee. Scams that use the Nano name, including fake wallets, fake giveaways and phishing sites, are a common hazard for any coin. Nothing here is investment advice.
How to store XNO safely
Nano uses a seed phrase, so anyone who has the seed controls every account derived from it. Write it down offline, keep it out of cloud storage, screenshots and chat apps, and never type it into a website that contacts you first. Keeping XNO on an exchange means trusting the exchange, so it is safer for larger amounts to use a wallet you control.
A hardware wallet that supports Nano keeps keys off an internet-connected device. Download wallet software only from sources you have verified, and test with a small transfer first. Double-check addresses before sending, because transfers are final. If you pick a representative, choose a reliable one that is not already very large, to support decentralization.
By the numbers
Nano in numbers
Nano (XNO) is ranked #477 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $44.0M and a price of $0.3304 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($44.0M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.
The price was down 0.6% over 7 days, down 7.3% over 30 days, down 63.0% over the past year. It trades about 99% below its all-time high of $33.69, set on Jan 1, 2018.
About 133.25M XNO are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 133.25M (100% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $113K, or 0.3% of its market cap: low turnover, so large orders can move the price.

XNO FAQs
What is Nano (XNO)?
Nano is a cryptocurrency for fast, feeless payments. It runs on its own block-lattice network, where each account has its own chain, and uses Open Representative Voting for consensus.
Does Nano have transaction fees?
Yes. Nano's protocol charges no transaction fees. Exchanges or services you use to buy, sell or withdraw XNO may still charge their own fees.
How many Nano coins are there?
The supply is fixed at about 133.2 million XNO, and all of it is already in circulation. No more will be created, and there are no mining or staking rewards.
Is Nano mined or staked?
No. Nano uses Open Representative Voting, where balances are delegated to representatives who vote on conflicts. It is similar to proof of stake but has no inflationary rewards and no coin locking, and it needs no mining hardware.
Why is Nano's price so far below its all-time high?
As of 2026-11-05 XNO was far below its early-2018 peak of about $33.69, trading near $0.33 and down about 66% over one year. Nothing here predicts future prices or recommends buying or selling.
What is the market cap of Nano?
As of Nov 6, 2026, Nano had a market cap of about $44.0M, ranking #477 among cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation. Market cap is price multiplied by circulating supply, so it moves with the price.
What is the all-time high of XNO?
Nano's all-time high is $33.69, reached on Jan 1, 2018. Its all-time low is $0.0262 (Jul 15, 2017). Past prices say nothing about future returns.
What is the circulating supply of XNO?
As of Nov 6, 2026, about 133.25M XNO were in circulation, against a maximum supply of 133.25M.
