What Dusk is
Dusk is a public, permissionless Layer 1 blockchain built for regulated financial markets. Its stated aim is to let companies and exchanges issue, trade and settle real-world assets, such as digital securities, on-chain while following European rules. The project description names MiFID II, MiCA and the DLT Pilot Regime as the frameworks it is designed around.
The network combines privacy-preserving smart contracts with zero-knowledge proofs. The idea is that transaction details can stay confidential while still allowing selective disclosure to regulators or auditors when required. That is a different approach from most public chains, where every balance and transfer is visible to anyone.
DUSK is the network's token. It sits in several categories: Layer 1, real-world asset (RWA) and zero-knowledge tokens, and it is also tagged as a privacy blockchain asset. The project lists partnerships with NPEX, a Dutch exchange regulated as an MTF, and Quantoz, a MiCA-compliant issuer of the euro-linked token EURQ. It also mentions institutional custody tooling called Dusk Vault. Those are the project's own claims, so read them as descriptions of intent and relationships rather than proof of adoption.
What the DUSK token is used for
Public sources describe DUSK as the working asset of the network. Its main role is securing the chain: validators stake DUSK to take part in block production and consensus, and they earn network rewards for doing so. The chain uses Proof of Stake.
DUSK is also used to pay transaction fees, often called gas, and to pay for deploying and running smart contracts. Because the network supports confidential transactions, these fees apply to private activity as well as ordinary transfers. Some sources also mention governance-style uses such as voting on proposals, but that varies by source and by how the network has evolved, so check the project's current documentation before assuming it.
The token also trades on exchanges, and some third-party pages list speculative trading as a use. That is a market activity, not a function built into the protocol. The project's longer-term pitch is that regulated assets issued on Dusk will need DUSK for fees and security, but how much real demand that creates depends on adoption that is hard to verify from outside.
Supply and tokenomics
The maximum supply is 1 billion DUSK. As of 2026-11-05, about 612.8 million tokens were circulating, and the total supply figure matched that number, which is about 61% of the cap. Because the data shows total and circulating supply as equal, the remaining roughly 387 million to reach the maximum would have to be created later. The data does not say how or on what schedule, so check the project's published token documentation for emission details.
At the time of writing, the price was about $0.076, giving a market cap of about $46.4M and a market-cap rank near 471. The fully diluted value shown in the data was the same $46.4M, which reflects how that figure was calculated rather than a statement about future supply. Reported 24-hour trading volume was about $4.5M.
The price had fallen about 18.7% over seven days but was up about 51% over one year. The all-time high was about $1.09 on 2021-12-29, and the all-time low was about $0.0111 on 2020-03-12. These figures change constantly and are not a forecast.
Chains and how it is held or traded
DUSK is issued as a token on Ethereum and BNB Chain, which means it can be held in standard wallets that support those networks and traded on exchanges that list those versions. The data does not list a chain for which DUSK is the native coin, although the project describes its own Layer 1 network and has a native wallet and connection tools. Treat the token versions and the native network as related but distinct, and check which one an exchange or wallet supports before moving funds.
In general terms, people acquire DUSK through centralized exchanges or decentralized exchanges that list the Ethereum or BNB Chain versions. Staking on the native network is a separate activity from holding on an exchange, and it typically involves moving tokens to the network and locking or committing them under its rules.
Sending tokens to an address on the wrong network is a common and often irreversible mistake. Always confirm the network, contract address and any memo requirements, and consider a small test transfer first.
History and notable events
The launch date is not given in the data, but the price history shows trading as early as March 2020, when the all-time low was set. The token then reached its peak in late December 2021, during the broader market high of that period, and has traded far below that level since.
More recently, public material from 2026 describes a product direction toward privacy-preserving infrastructure for regulated onchain finance, including a new wallet and a connection tool called Dusk Connect. The token is also listed in the portfolio of YZi Labs, formerly Binance Labs, according to the categories in the data.
I have no verified details on specific incidents, network upgrades or audit results beyond this, so check the project's official announcements and independent security reviews for a fuller timeline.
Risks to understand
Adoption risk. The thesis depends on regulated institutions actually issuing and trading assets on Dusk. Partnerships are not the same as large-scale usage, and competing chains and traditional market infrastructure are also targeting tokenized securities.
Regulatory risk. Rules such as MiCA and the DLT Pilot Regime are still being applied in practice. Changes or strict interpretations could affect what the network can offer. Privacy features may also draw extra scrutiny from exchanges and regulators.
Market risk. DUSK is a small-cap token, and the drop of about 19% in a week shows how sharply it can move. Liquidity can thin out quickly. Remaining supply that is not yet circulating could also dilute holders, depending on the emission schedule.
Technical risk. Zero-knowledge systems and smart contracts are complex, and bugs can be costly. Bridges and wrapped or multi-chain token versions add further points of failure.
Nothing here is investment advice, and you should only risk what you can afford to lose.
How to store DUSK safely
For small amounts, a reputable exchange account is convenient but means the exchange controls the keys. For longer-term holding, a self-custody wallet gives you control, but you are then responsible for the recovery phrase. Write it down offline, never store it in screenshots or cloud notes, and never share it with anyone, including people claiming to be support staff.
A hardware wallet that supports Ethereum or BNB Chain is a sensible choice for the token versions, since it keeps signing keys off your computer. If you stake on the native network, use the project's own wallet or tools and read how locking and withdrawal work before committing funds.
Before every transfer, confirm the network and address. Be cautious with airdrop messages, fake support accounts and unsolicited links, which are common around smaller tokens. Using a dedicated address for experimenting with new apps limits your exposure if something goes wrong.
By the numbers
DUSK in numbers
DUSK (DUSK) is ranked #465 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $45.9M and a price of $0.0749 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation ($45.9M) is close to its market cap, so little new supply is still to come.
The price was down 17.2% over 7 days, down 8.4% over 30 days, up 37.1% over the past year. It trades about 93% below its all-time high of $1.09, set on Dec 29, 2021.
About 612.98M DUSK are in circulation out of a maximum supply of 1B (61% issued).
24-hour trading volume was about $5.11M, or 11% of its market cap: high turnover.
DUSK has token contracts on 2 chains we track, including Ethereum, BNB Chain. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.
CoinGecko groups DUSK under Layer 1 tokens, Real-world asset (RWA) tokens, Zero-knowledge (ZK) tokens.

DUSK FAQs
What is DUSK used for?
DUSK is used for staking to secure the network, paying transaction fees and paying to deploy and run smart contracts. It also trades on exchanges, though trading is a market activity rather than a built-in feature.
What is Dusk Network?
Dusk is a public, permissionless Layer 1 blockchain aimed at regulated financial markets. It focuses on issuing and settling real-world assets with privacy features and zero-knowledge proofs, in line with European rules.
What is the maximum supply of DUSK?
The maximum supply is 1 billion DUSK. As of 2026-11-05, roughly 612.8 million were circulating, which is about 61% of the cap.
