What Berachain and BERA are

Berachain is a Layer 1 blockchain, meaning it runs its own network rather than sitting on top of another chain. BERA is its native token, described in the project data as the gas token of Berachain. Gas is the fee paid to send transactions or run smart contracts on the network, so almost any action on the chain needs a small amount of BERA.

Berachain is publicly described as EVM-compatible, so apps written for Ethereum-style chains can be adapted to run on it, and common wallets can connect to it. Its main design idea is called Proof of Liquidity. Instead of tying network security only to staked coins, it tries to link the chain's security to liquidity that users supply to apps on the chain. BERA is listed in the Layer 1 and DeFi categories, which reflects both its role as a chain token and its close tie to decentralized finance activity on the network.

What the token is used for

The clearest use of BERA is paying gas fees. Every transaction on Berachain consumes a fee denominated in BERA, so demand for block space translates into a need to hold the token.

Beyond gas, Berachain is publicly known for a multi-token design. Alongside BERA, the project uses a separate token called BGT, which is tied to governance and rewards and is not meant to be freely traded, and a stablecoin called HONEY. In this model, users who supply liquidity to supported apps earn BGT, and BGT holders can direct rewards toward validators and protocols. BERA remains the tradable asset used for fees.

This page does not go deeper into reward rates or governance rules, because they can change and are best checked in the project's own documentation. If you plan to use the chain, treat BERA as the fuel for activity and read how BGT and HONEY work before committing funds.

Supply and tokenomics

At the time of writing, as of 2026-11-05, about 351.7 million BERA were circulating, out of a total supply of roughly 564.2 million. The data lists no maximum supply, so there is no confirmed hard cap on the figures we have. The gap between circulating and total supply means a large block of tokens was not yet in open circulation, and those tokens can enter the market over time through unlocks or releases.

That gap shows up in valuation. The market capitalization was about $43.5 million, while the fully diluted valuation, which assumes all existing tokens are circulating, was about $69.8 million. We do not have a verified allocation breakdown or unlock schedule in our data, so we are not stating how tokens were split between the team, investors, community and ecosystem. Check the project's published tokenomics before drawing conclusions, and watch for scheduled unlocks, since new supply can weigh on a token's market.

Chains, holding and trading

BERA is the native token of the Berachain network, so its home is Berachain itself. Our data shows no versions of the token issued on other chains, though bridged or wrapped versions may exist elsewhere and should be verified before use.

In general terms, people hold BERA in a self-custody wallet that supports EVM networks, with Berachain added as a custom network if it is not already listed. Others keep it on a centralized exchange. The token is categorized as a Binance HODLer airdrop token, which indicates it was distributed to some users of that exchange and trades there. At the time of writing, 24-hour trading volume was about $7.4 million, modest next to the project's earlier peak, and the token ranked around 500 by market capitalization. Lower liquidity can mean wider spreads and bigger price moves on larger orders, so check the depth of a trading pair before placing an order.

History and price context

Berachain's mainnet went live in early February 2025, which lines up with the token's all-time high of about $14.83 on 2025-02-06, the same period as its debut. The data also labels the token as part of the Binance HODLer airdrops group and shows backing from investors such as Polychain Capital and Outlier Ventures, according to the category listings.

Since that peak, the price has fallen sharply. As of 2026-11-05 it was about $0.124, roughly 92% below where it traded a year earlier, and it had also set a new all-time low of about $0.123 that same day. Over the previous seven days it was down about 15%. These are descriptions of past moves, not forecasts. A decline of this size is common among tokens that launch at high valuations with a large share of supply still to be released, but the data here does not tell us the specific causes, and we are not guessing at them.

Risks to understand

BERA carries the usual risks of a young Layer 1 token, plus some specific ones. Price volatility is high, and the token has lost most of its value over the past year. Because total supply exceeds circulating supply, future unlocks could add selling pressure. There is no stated maximum supply in our data, so long-term dilution is an open question.

Technical risk matters too. A newer chain with a novel consensus design and a layered token system has more complexity than a plain network, and complexity can hide bugs. Apps built on the chain can fail or be exploited, and funds placed in liquidity pools or lending protocols can be lost. Liquidity risk is relevant given the modest trading volume relative to the project's earlier peak, and the project's activity depends on keeping developers and users engaged.

Nothing here is investment advice, and we are not predicting where the price goes. Only commit money you can afford to lose, and read the project's own documentation before using its apps.

How to store BERA safely

For anything beyond small amounts, self-custody is the safer route. Use a well-known wallet that supports EVM networks, and ideally pair it with a hardware wallet so the private keys never touch an internet-connected device. Write down your recovery phrase on paper or metal, keep it offline, and never type it into a website, chat or support form. Nobody legitimate will ask for it.

When adding Berachain to a wallet, take the network settings from the project's official documentation rather than from social media posts or search ads, since fake network and token listings are a common scam. Double-check contract addresses before approving any token spending, and revoke old approvals you no longer need. Send a small test transaction first when moving funds to a new address.

If you leave BERA on an exchange, remember that you rely on that company's security and solvency. Turn on two-factor authentication and use a unique password. Keep a small amount of BERA available to pay gas fees.

By the numbers

Berachain in numbers

Berachain (BERA) is ranked #485 by market capitalisation, with a market cap of about $43.0M and a price of $0.1179 as of Nov 6, 2026. Its fully diluted valuation is $66.5M, so roughly 65% of the eventual supply is in circulation today; tokens still to be released could add selling pressure.

The price was down 14.5% over 7 days, down 47.9% over 30 days, down 92.2% over the past year. It trades about 99% below its all-time high of $14.83, set on Feb 6, 2025.

About 365.09M BERA are in circulation, from a total supply of 564.32M. No hard maximum supply is listed.

24-hour trading volume was about $11.5M, or 27% of its market cap: very high turnover.

BERA is the native token of Berachain. Always check the contract address before buying or bridging: copycat tokens often reuse a well-known name and ticker.

BERA FAQs

What is BERA used for?

BERA is the native gas token of the Berachain network. It pays transaction fees on the chain, and it is the tradable token in a system that also includes BGT and HONEY.

Is Berachain its own blockchain?

Berachain is a Layer 1 blockchain with its own network, and BERA is its native token. It is described as EVM-compatible and built around a design called Proof of Liquidity.

What is the supply of BERA?

Our data lists no maximum supply. As of 2026-11-05, about 351.7 million BERA were circulating and roughly 564.2 million existed in total.

Why is BERA's price so far below its high?

As of 2026-11-05, BERA had fallen about 92% over the previous year and was near its all-time low, after peaking at about $14.83 in February 2025. The data does not explain the causes, so we do not state them. This is not a prediction or advice.

Can I hold BERA in my own wallet?

Yes. BERA can be held in a self-custody wallet that supports EVM networks, with Berachain added using settings from the official documentation. A hardware wallet and an offline recovery phrase add protection.
