Powercity Flex Protocol Review 2026: Interest-Free HEX Loans

Powercity Flex Protocol is a PulseChain borrowing protocol that issues interest-free HEXDC loans against HEX collateral. It is a small, unaudited niche product with a tight 110% minimum collateral ratio.

Our verdict on Powercity Flex Protocol

4.8/10

Powercity Flex Protocol suits experienced PulseChain users who hold HEX and want dollar liquidity without selling or paying interest. Its main strength is the zero-interest loan structure. The main caveat is risk: no audits are listed, TVL is small, and a 110% minimum collateral ratio gives little protection against a HEX price drop. Treat it as a high-risk tool, borrow well below the limit, and only commit funds you can afford to lose.

What is Powercity Flex Protocol?

Powercity Flex Protocol is a decentralized borrowing protocol on PulseChain. It lets holders of HEX take out interest-free loans in HEXDC, a USD-pegged stablecoin, without selling their HEX. It has a native token, FLEX, and has been tracked since July 2024.

It is part of Powercity, an ecosystem of projects built for PulseChain and linked through a central hub called the Core, which acts as the staking platform for the WATT token. Flex is the borrowing arm of that set of products.

The protocol holds roughly $196,000 in total value locked, with a 7-day increase of about 9.5%. That makes it a small niche protocol. The team, governance process and audit history are not published in any source we could cite, and no audits are listed.

How Powercity Flex Protocol works

Flex Protocol is a collateralized debt position (CDP) system. A user deposits HEX into a smart contract and borrows HEXDC against it. HEXDC is a stablecoin pegged to the US dollar, and the protocol states that these loans carry no interest.

Each position must stay above a 110% collateral ratio. That means the HEX locked must be worth at least 1.1 times the HEXDC borrowed. If HEX falls in price and the ratio drops below the minimum, the position can be liquidated under the protocol's rules, which generally means the collateral is sold or seized to cover the debt.

To close a loan, the borrower repays the HEXDC and withdraws their HEX. Because there is no interest, the main risk to a borrower is the collateral price falling, not the cost of carrying the debt.

6 features

Key features

01

Interest-free loans

Borrowers draw loans without an ongoing interest charge, which makes the cost of a position mainly a matter of collateral risk.

02

HEXDC stablecoin payouts

Loans are paid out in HEXDC, a stablecoin pegged to the US dollar, so borrowers receive a dollar-denominated asset.

03

HEX-backed borrowing

Users lock HEX as collateral instead of selling it, keeping their exposure while accessing liquidity.

04

110% minimum ratio

Each loan must keep at least 110% collateralization, a ratio that is lower than many lending protocols require.

05

PulseChain deployment

The protocol runs on PulseChain, where gas costs are generally lower than on Ethereum mainnet.

06

FLEX token and ecosystem

A FLEX token is tied to the protocol and sits within the broader Powercity set of projects.

Pros and cons

What we like

  • Loans are described as interest-free, with no recurring borrowing cost
  • Lets HEX holders access dollar liquidity without selling their position
  • Low 110% minimum collateral ratio allows high capital efficiency
  • Runs on PulseChain, where transaction costs are generally modest
  • Fits into a wider Powercity ecosystem with its own staking hub

Watch out for

  • No audits are listed for the protocol, so smart-contract risk is unquantified
  • Collateral is limited to HEX, a volatile asset, so a price drop can push a loan toward liquidation
  • The 110% minimum collateral ratio leaves a thin safety buffer
  • TVL is small, at roughly $196,000, which can mean thin liquidity for the HEXDC stablecoin
  • Depends on PulseChain and HEX, so it carries ecosystem-wide risk
  • Team, governance and fee details are not published in any source we could cite

Powercity Flex Protocol fees

The protocol describes its loans as interest-free, so there is no recurring interest on the HEXDC you borrow. That is the main cost advantage over lenders that charge a variable rate.

The protocol does not publish a full fee schedule in any source we can cite. Possible charges such as a one-time borrowing fee, redemption or liquidation penalties, and PulseChain gas costs would appear in the app before you confirm. Check them there first.

Is Powercity Flex Protocol safe?

No audits are listed for Flex Protocol, and the team and governance details are not published in sources we could cite. Smart-contract risk is therefore unquantified. Borrowing protocols have a long record of exploits and oracle problems, and small ones with limited review are more exposed.

The main user-side risk is liquidation. A 110% minimum ratio leaves little room, and HEX is a volatile asset, so a sharp price drop can wipe out a position. The HEXDC stablecoin also depends on the protocol's mechanisms to hold its peg. Use small amounts, keep a wide buffer above the minimum, and verify the official app through the project's verified channels.

6 steps

How to get started with Powercity Flex Protocol

  1. 1

Set up a wallet that supports PulseChain and fund it with a small amount of PLS for gas.

  2. 2

Hold HEX on PulseChain, since that is the collateral the protocol accepts.

  3. 3

Find the official Flex Protocol app through the project's verified social account and avoid links from unknown sources.

  4. 4

Connect your wallet and review the collateral ratio, fees and liquidation terms shown before opening a position.

  5. 5

Deposit HEX, borrow HEXDC conservatively and keep a margin well above the 110% minimum.

  6. 6

Monitor the HEX price regularly and add collateral or repay debt if your ratio narrows.

Who Powercity Flex Protocol is for

Flex Protocol is for existing HEX holders on PulseChain who are comfortable with CDP mechanics, liquidation risk and unaudited contracts. It is not suited to beginners, or to anyone who cannot actively monitor their collateral ratio.

Powercity Flex Protocol FAQs

What is Powercity Flex Protocol?

It is a decentralized borrowing protocol on PulseChain. Users lock HEX as collateral and draw loans in HEXDC, a USD-pegged stablecoin, without paying interest.

What is the minimum collateral ratio?

Loans must keep a collateral ratio of at least 110%. If the value of the HEX collateral falls too far relative to the debt, the position becomes exposed to liquidation.

Does Flex Protocol charge interest?

The protocol describes its loans as interest-free. Any other costs, such as one-time borrowing or redemption fees, are not published in detail, so check the app before confirming a transaction.

Which blockchain does it use?

Flex runs on PulseChain, so you need a PulseChain-compatible wallet and some PLS for gas. You also need HEX on that chain to use as collateral.

Has Powercity Flex Protocol been audited?

No audits are listed for the protocol. Treat it as high risk, use only funds you can afford to lose, and read any available contract documentation before depositing.

How does it relate to the wider Powercity ecosystem?

Powercity is described as an ecosystem of projects built for PulseChain and connected through a central staking hub called the Core, which serves the WATT token. Flex is listed as one of those products, with its own FLEX token.
